Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently contained in Warehouse 12, stored in a secure locker.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an unadorned orange timber door, standing at 0.76 x 1.98 m, and fastened to a metal frame by hinges. The door also has a metal pull handle, with no discernible locking mechanism. All components of the door are approximately 2 years old.

Once the door has been pulled open a new location is revealed in the door's frame. This new location however is only visible to the user who had opened the door, all other observers saw only the now empty frame.
This gateway similarly only allows entry by the user, others who attempted to step through simply went through the empty frame and remained in the starting room. In the same regard nothing on the other side of the door can enter through to the user's side; when subjects were asked to bring items back with them all items remained on the other side during the transition. One subject tested eating food found on the other side of the voyage, upon return the mid-digested food was similarly left behind having somehow left the subjects's body.

Initial testing suggested the door capable of transporting a person to an unpredictable destination across the globe. 80% of subjects would return through the door and suddenly have a fatal heart attack after a minimum of three uses, the exact number of uses varied between each subject.
The uses within Test XXXX-A4 revealed however that each use of the door allows it to begin taking its user to locations more personal to them.
The trend of destinations users went to follows as such:

  • Area 1 - User has visited this location at least once in their life.
  • Area 2 - User is intimately familiar with and has spent long periods of time there throughout their life.
  • Area 3-7 - User's experience with these areas becomes increasingly more personal, each one having progressively more negative associations for them.

Additional Notes: No subjects have been able to enter the door more than seven times, when further attempts are made the user sees only the empty frame. Additionally in some cases, subjects were taken to locations they have never personally visited, but still held strong negative association with.

Medical tests and psych evals were conducted on subjects after every voyage following the first case of heart attack; medical results showed an increased heart rate, dizziness, chest pains or a numbness to pain all together1. All psych evals noted subject's felt intense feelings of isolation and depression that worsened after each voyage.

Inspections conducted on the door and the door frame's materials show it to be of a standard make with no unique properties other than its difficulty to dismantle. The initial location where SCP-XXXX was discovered similarly showed no special properties after the same testing, and movement to Warehouse 12 showed no signs of altering it's properties.
The only noticeable uncommon feature to the door is attempts to dismantle it (i.e. unscrewing the hinges or shedding off chips of wood) were unsuccessful. Even with the aid of power tools the door and frame proved too sturdy to be affected.
It is currently unconfirmed what aspect of the door is responsible for it's anomalous properties.

Addendum XXXX-01: Notable tests conducted. All logs shorter than 7 voyages ended due to heart attacks, or other fatal occurrence. Due to the unpredictability of where the door would open to all tests were conducted in a remote location, and an automatic-closing device was implemented should the user be unable do so themselves.
