Item #: SCP-4596
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4596 is contained in a clear locked glass case which was found with SCP-4596. The dimensions of the case are 1ft wide x 2ft long x 1ft high. At the bottom of the case, a layer of ██████ is to be placed within, approximately 2in. in thickness, with SCP-4596 resting on top of it. SCP-4596 is to be kept in the case permanently, barring testing procedures on SCP-4596. SCP-4596 and its' case is also to be kept in a locked standard containment room with dimensions of 10ft wide x 10ft long x 15 high. SCP-4596 is not to be removed from the room for any reason. SCP-4596 is currently kept at Site █, as the sites exterior environment has been seen to have the best results relating to tests performed on SCP-4596's anomalous properties. Any experimentation on SCP-4596 must be passed by Doctor ██████ and at least 3 other Level 4 or higher personnel.
Description: SCP-4596 is an iron double-pronged fork attached to a burgundy leather collar. SCP-4596's appearance is similar to the torture device known as the "Heretic's Fork", of which was used in the Spanish Inquisition, except for carvings in the iron fork of an unknown language or code, of which of yet has been undeciphered. SCP-4596 is measured to be 6.8 inches in length and having a weight of 102 grams. Attempts to detach the iron fork from the leather collar have been unsuccessful.
SCP-4596's anomalous properties begin to appear only when the object is put on by a human. Any other organism or animal otherwise will experience no anomalous effects by SCP-4596. If a human puts on SCP-4596, a variation of events will then transpire, based on the person in question's history. If put on by a subject who has committed no crime or otherwise harmful event on something or someone else, (otherwise known as Subject-A) the subject will experience no effect. If put on by a subject who has committed some crime or act that under the law of [REDACTED] would be considered grounds for a small punishment (Subject-B), the subject will experience a burning sensation of the leather around their neck, lasting from anywhere between 20 seconds to hours depending on the subjects actions.
When SCP-4596 is put on by a subject who has committed a crime that under [REDACTED] would be grounds for death (Subject-C), the subjects head is then forced downward by an unseen force, forcing the blade into the subjects sternum and throat, killing almost instantly. The duration of the piercing is also determined by the severity of the actions of the subject. SCP-4596's severity is subjective to what [REDACTED] perceives as most evil, and will deal out subsequent punishments accordingly.
In extreme cases, seen in subjects who have [REDACTED], the subject will seemingly re-animate, place SCP-4596 on themselves, and once again subject themselves to SCP-4596. In this case SCP-4596-1 is then created. SCP-4596-1 is seen to physically be no different than the deceased person who initially subjected themselves to SCP-4596 except that SCP-4596-1 has strength and speed far past those or normal humans, and will perform no action other than what is necessary in order to get SCP-4596 back on itself. Any attempts to contain SCP-4596-1 from reaching SCP-4596 have been unsuccessful. SCP-4596-1 will only cease when they have once again been killed by SCP-4596 or have been mutilated beyond the capabilities of getting to SCP-4596, which must (as so far seen) be inflicted by staff members in order to happen. In this case SCP-4596 will then disappear and return back to the glass enclosure. This can happen multiple times with one subject, and is thought to be infinite with subjects who are considered to be the most evil of all human history. If not given a subject for a certain amount of time, determined to be at minimum 72 hours, SCP-4596 will become extremely hot, burning through any material it is on, besides [REDACTED].
SCP-4596 was discovered by SCP personnel in [REDACTED] with a host of SCP-4596-1 which was seen to have used SCP-4596 so often that a distinct hole had been made through SCP-4596-1's sternum and jaw. This instance of SCP-4596-1 was destroyed and SCP-4596 was contained and brought to Site ██, where it was seen to have little effect until it was returned to a glass case also discovered onsite, where its' anomalous effects have continued.
