Special Containment Procedure: SCP-XXXX is currently being held in a standard containment chamber designed with procedures described in documents of Addendum XXXX-01. Further security measures have been deemed unnecessary, as the current anomalous status of SCP-XXXX is under review.
Name:
Description: SCP-XXXX is a Pre-Colombian mesoamerican artifact, specifically an effigy-headed metate1 carved in a shape depicting a jaguar, which is believed to be of Costa Rican origin. The structure is missing its hind legs and tail, which appear to have been broken off. Exact period in which these damages occurred are currently unknow. However, photographs uncovered during SCP-XXXX's initial discovery indicate the hind legs were damaged some time after the late 1940s, and tail was damaged during the early 20th century.
Discovery Log: SCP-XXXX was first discovered by . This breach caused significant damage to the structural integrity of the site which resulted in its near total collapse. During the process of assessing the debris and the recovery of SCPs for re-containment, a basement floor was discovered beneath the site's 6th level. This floor is not present on Site-04 construction plans and appears to have been in disuse years prior to the breach. The floor consists of a several connecting halls, each of which containing at least 4 steel doors, and an decommissioned elevator whose doors have been welded shut. Bolted on the wall beside the elevator is a small placard. Parts of the text on this placard are heavily obscured due damage. However, the following can be read: "Keter Wing 01 - Critical Containment".
All doors on this floor have a small glass peephole with a number written beneath. They each lead to a standard issue containment chamber. These chambers were found to all be empty and in disrepair, apart from two, chambers 04 and 48. SCP-XXXX was found contained within chamber 04, held in a glass box placed on top of a pedestal in the center of the chamber. Bolted on the wall beside the door of containment chamber 04 is a placard, which reads: "The Jaguar. Entry is prohibited under all circumstances."
No documentation has been found describing the original containment procedures, recovery, or class designation of SCP-XXXX. When questioned, the remaining Site-04 personnel expressed no knowledge of the basement floor, SCP-XXXX, or its research team. A ensuing investigation conducted by RAISA into all surviving Site-04 files produced no additional information concerning the nature of SCP-XXXX. A subsequent investigation into the general Foundation database is now undergoing. Due to this lack of information, current containment procedures have been based on the state of containment chamber 04.
Addendum XXXX.01: Results of Anomalous Effects Investigation 4/30/19
| Subjects | Instruction | Result |
|---|---|---|
| D-1319 | Enter chamber 04 and remain for approximately 30 minutes | No additional anomalous effects detected |
| D-1319 | Gently handle, lift, and shift position of SCP-XXXX. Maintain continued contact with SCP-XXXX for approximately one minute. | No additional anomalous effects detected |
| D-4211 | Utilize SCP-XXXX to grind a variety of grains and seeds, including corn, cocoa, rice, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds. | No additional anomalous effects detected. |
Notation: Additional analysis by the Binah Pattern Recognition System returned the following:
- 83.3% anomaly certainty
- Potentially Category Aleph Room (“Greatest Concern”) (12% ±5% confidence)
- Potentially Keter (2.4% ±5% confidence)
- Potentially uncontainable (0.72% ±5% confidence)
Said data. the structure's pre-established containment within Site-04, and the potential previous designation of Keter has lead the SCP-XXXX research team to request further testing prior to the decision of a new containment class. This request was approved.
Addendum XXXX.02: Results of Anomalous Effects Investigation 5/03/19
| Subjects | Instruction | Result |
|---|---|---|
| D-4211 | While in chamber 04, consume traditional mesoamerican cuisine made utilizing grinds from previous test. | No additional anomalous effects detected |
| D-4211 | While in chamber 04, consume a series of fruits, vegetables, and cooked meats which are consistent with the Pre-Columbian diet of the Central American region. | No additional anomalous effects detected |
| D-4211 | Consume a series of raw meats which are consistent with animals available to Pre-Columbian society in the Central American region | Subject is believed to have contracted Salmonella. No additional anomalous effects detected. |
Notation: After these results were reported on, a representative of the Ethics Committee was sent to Site-04 to preform an inquiry into the research's team methodology, as well as to insure no unneeded abuse of test subjects was occurring. Site-04 was then approved for further testing, with the added prerequisite of the presence of an Ethics Committee representative during the experimentation.
Addendum XXXX.03: Results of Anomalous Effects Investigation 5/10/19
| Subjects | Instruction | Result |
|---|---|---|
| D-1319 | While in chamber 04, vocalize a series of pre-selected words, phrases, and chants in a variety of mesoamerican native dialects | No additional anomalous effects detected |
| D-1319 | Perform several rituals consistent with the practices of Pre-Columbian cultures, involving minimal self harm and laceration. If no reaction is seen, use blood produced by said ritual to interact with SCP-XXXX | No additional anomalous effects detected |
| D-1319 and D-1320 | Perform a detailed ritual consistent with the practices of Pre-Columbian cultures, involving a human sacrifice. | Death of subject D-1319. No additional anomalous effects detected. |
Notation: After these results were reported on there was an immediate intervention by the Ethics Committee into the practices of Site-04. All testing was momentarily suspended. The entirety of the SCP-XXXX research team, including the Ethics Committee representative, were detained and questioned. After an extensive examination of the psyche and behavior of these subjects in search of anomalous influences, it was determined the researches preformed the prior testing by their own volition. The team was therefore given appropriate disciplinary action and/or removed from the project.
Further investigation into SCP-XXXX's effects has been approved with a specific focus into possible pressence of cognitohazards, infohazards, or other mind influencing properties.
Addendum XXXX.04: Additional Documentation of SCP-XXXX
The following items were found within containment chamber 07 scattered on the floor beside an empty podium. They are the only known pieces of Foundation documentation which make reference to SCP-XXXX and have thus been designated SCP-XXXX-A, -B, and -C. All are now contained in the Site-01 air tight archive vaults.
- SCP-XXXX-A is a black and white image which depicts what appears to be an undamaged SCP-XXXX. On the back of the image in faded black ink is written: "The Jaguar. CAUTION: Fragile."
- SCP-XXXX-B is a Polaroid picture which depicts what appears to be SCP-XXXX after it has lost its tail, but still retaining its hind legs. On the back of the image in faded marker is written: "The Jaguar. WARNING: Dangerous. Handle with extreme care."
- SCP-XXXX-C consists of the following incomplete and torn document showing signs of decomposition.
