SCP-XXXX, prior to containment
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
*Threat Level:** ● Orange
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained at Biological Containment Site-103 in a 10m x 13m x 10m glass container, placed inside a larger room.
Every day, instances of SCP-XXXX taller than seven meters must be cut by at least one Class-D Personnel escorted by no less than two security guards, and remnants must immediately be put in a vat of boiling water.
In addition to this, the ground in SCP-XXXX's container must be misted every week.
If an instance of SCP-XXXX is spotted outside its container, all personnel in the area must be temporarily evacuated and an on-site senior guard must place a temporary glass containment dome over the instance and Mobile Task Force Theta-4 ("Gardeners") is to arrive at the facility and remove the offending SCP-XXXX instance/s and place it in its container (or inside a vat of boiling water) and the container to SCP-XXXX is to be thoroughly checked for any cracks or holes and have them repaired immediately.
If any personnel smell of mint, they must be thoroughly inspected for any cavity and have any located instance of SCP-XXXX surgically removed and immediately placed in a vat of boiling water.
If an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is located, on-site personnel are to restrain the subject and have SCP-XXXX surgically removed from them, and then placed into a vat of boiling water or in its container.
SCP-XXXX-1 is authorised to be terminated if hostile to personnel. As of Incident XXXX-A, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 is, under no circumstances, allowed to be terminated.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a form of common spearmint.1
SCP-XXXX can grow rapidly (approximately one centimeter a minute) and can spread through any non-transparent surface, and has shown to grow over 30 meters tall.
Testing to determine if SCP-XXXX is sentient has shown to be inconclusive.
When SCP-XXXX comes into contact with an object that:
- is organic
- is sentient, and
- is alive
SCP-XXXX will rapidly increase in growth, piercing into the body of any object that meets the following criteria, and detach itself from the host. 80% of all Class-D Subjects2 have reported feeling no pain when that occurs and only express a slight discomfort. For the 10% that do feel pain, the amnestic effect does not take place either. Approximately thirty minutes after contact with SCP-XXXX, subject will begin to experience severe cramping in the area nearest to where contact was established. Analysis confirmed that SCP-XXXX has completely covered the organ in question. Approximately three hours later, subjects will no longer respond to external stimuli and two minutes later, will turn into an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. In 80% of these cases, SCP-XXXX will seemingly insert a compound similar to intravenous Class-A amnestics.
SCP-XXXX-1 is the designation for any organic, living subject that has had SCP-XXXX growing inside of them. SCP-XXXX-1 shows to rapidly be able to plant instances of SCP-XXXX by skin-to-surface contact. In addition to this, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will rapidly decompose and, if subject expires, will instantly turn into a patch of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-1 has shown to behave like unaffected humans, a difference being they are not able (or not willing) to speak.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 has shown to be 100% more fragile than non-anomalous humanoids, allowing them to be terminated very easily.
When introduced to boiling water, the effects of SCP-XXXX will be neutralised and will instantly turn into non-anomalous spearmint.
Addendum XXXX-Alpha: Incident XXXX-2███-B.
On 05/14/20██, SCP-2███ breached containment. During the containment breach of SCP-2███, a small portion of the glass in SCP-XXXX's container has been cracked, and SCP-XXXX has taken over adjacent rooms and hallways, leading into eighteen personnel converted into SCP-XXXX-1.

Addendum XXXX-Gamma: Discovery and Containment of SCP-XXXX.
11/08/200█, 1511 hours During a routine expedition in Ghost Site 8122433, MTF Theta-4 had come across a 32-meter tall strand of spearmint (now designated SCP-XXXX.) Approaching the strand, it has shown to have almost (windows and glass containers were seemingly untouched) completely taken over a building4 MTF ϴ-7 were able to dig up and trim most of the SCP-XXXX instances and were all placed in temporary miniature containers (plastic.) This process has been done for approximately two hours until all instances have been captured and transferred back to Site-66.
