Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: MTF Omega-1 ("Zen Eternal") agents have been assigned to guard the vicinity of the temple disguised as Cultural Preservation Troops. As of Incident Firechild (refer to Addendum XXXX-001), local villagers, tourists, and even government troops without imperative, Foundation security clearance, are to be barred from entrance to the temple. Exceptions are to be given to the local monks with respect to their religious practices, and to Foundation researchers, namely assigned senior researchers Dr. Damien and Dr. Vidyarthi.

Access to the temple pool is restricted to Foundation researchers for further experimentation, documentation and preservation. Physical contact with SCP-XXXX is to be avoided at all times, if not in the process of any experiment. Noise-cancelling headphones are to be equipped when within the monks' 20m zone of influence, and they are to be periodically observed for any signs of irregularity or abnormality. Any detectable change in respiratory rate, muscle movement, immobility, and behavior, is to be reported immediately to Dr. Damien and Dr. Vidyarthi.

Level 4 clearance is obligatory before any communication with SCP-XXXX. If granted Level 4 clearance, none other than Dr. Vidyarthi is cleared and qualified to assume transmigration procedures as SCP-XXXX-1. A maximum of 4 personnel is to be inside during transmigration to stand guard.

In any presumable event that Dr. Vidyarthi begins to enter critical stages of transmigration with SCP-XXXX, his request to be uninterrupted during transmigration rites is to be upheld. Dr. Vidyarthi has been given expendable rights by O5, to whom he appealed verbatim "if it's my time, it's my time". Consequently, it is incumbent upon any present Foundation personnel to observe Dr. Vidyarthi's physical state to its eventual transformation to SCP-XXXX, and to document the complete process, without any act of interference or conscience.

Description: SCP-XXXX has been identified as the body of water-like fluid, resting in a 5m x 6m oval pool, and dating back to the ███ Dynasty. The pool itself is situated within the ██████ Temple, a Buddhist enclosure 64km away from ███████, Nepal. The pool is surrounded by a circle of seven monks meditating in a lotus pose. On the surface of SCP-XXXX are lotus flowers with identical shapes and sizes. Carbon dating them has shown a disparity in their lifespans— some are 10 years old, while others date back to ████ years. This data could be essential in investigations surrounding the possible origins of SCP-XXXX.

The external appearance of SCP-XXXX has no difference that can be discerned from any instance of water. The structure of SCP-XXXX is similar to water when splashed, cupped, poured into a container, touched, and many other examples of physical contact. When tested for chemical composition, its anomalous behavior triggers as a response, overheating electronic equipment used on it. Boiling samples of SCP-XXXX proved to be ineffective, as it does not react to any heat, easily withstanding temperatures that exceed the melting point of tungsten1, while interminably maintaining its internal temperature of 10 °C. Likewise, there has been no success in freezing samples of SCP-XXXX.

Efforts to carry any amount of SCP-XXXX around 20m away from the pool have failed. Any taken amount of SCP-XXXX will be pull backed through the air at speeds of [DATA REDACTED] m/s, phasing through any material in its trajectory, up to its return to the pool. This has been attempted with obtaining a microliter sample of SCP-XXXX contained in a vacuum-sealed storage. Once the storage reached the temple door, which met the 20m boundary, the microliter amount of SCP-XXXX was observed to have disappeared from the storage, and phased through several researchers on its way. The researchers remarked they felt nothing pass through them, and they had no cases of any anomaly from the contact. Thus, all tests concerning SCP-XXXX are done inside the temple within the 20m radius from the pool utilizing portable lab equipment.

The monks were recorded to be octogenarians. Despite the absence of any vital indications of life, they show no signs of any physical deterioration, defects, or changes since their initial discovery. Body scans of the monks have revealed that their muscular and skeletal systems are healthy as— or even, healthier than— a human male in his 20s, and cerebral functions are preserved well. These monks exhibit controlled respiration, breathing in a constant respiratory rate of one breath per minute. Researchers were unable to gather blood samples since their extremities are incredibly impenetrable by any sharp objects, even with the help of [DATA REDACTED]. All of these reported anomalies and behaviors are closely linked to their symbiosis with SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX can interconnect with the monks through unknown means, accessing their frontal lobes, specifically the Broca's area, which turns the monks into vocal conduits for SCP-XXXX ad interim. Coincidently, the monks undergo visible rejuvenation temporarily— their physical appearances become extremely young compared to their present ages. During this phenomenon, subjects in proximity to the monks have reported hearing low-pitched humming "urging them to drink from the pond". This was the onset of Incident Firechild.

The main anomaly of SCP-XXXX is "experienced" when it is ingested. This was first demonstrated to Foundation researchers by the head monk, who had been previously designated as SCP-XXXX-1. He cupped the "Waters of Wisdom", as they named it, and drank. What shortly followed was a striking glow emanating from the head monk's right eye, and a rejuvenation of his physical age; he appeared younger by a span of around 50 years from his original age of 80. In this state, SCP-XXXX-1 has taken place, defined as the transmigrated consciousness of SCP-XXXX coalesced with the drinker's consciousness.

The stability of SCP-XXXX-1 is sustained by the equilibrium of influence exerted by SCP-XXXX and the drinker. Dr. Damien has termed this as the Ying-Yang Confluence, which requires a connection strengthened by reducing brain activities to a minimum function. A major part of maintaining the line of communication with SCP-XXXX is repressing any strong emotions. Any sudden emotional change will upset the stability of the balance. The results of an instance of an unstable SCP-XXXX-1 is a large-scale catastrophic event lasting for a short duration, endangering people and objects around it, ultimately ending the transmigration. SCP-XXXX-1 will then undergo liquefaction into a perfect amalgam of SCP-XXXX with all its properties.

SCP-XXXX has no distinctive name. It is capable of speaking in any recorded language simultaneously. The true nature of SCP-XXXX remains unknown due to lack of historical information on it, but from recorded interviews, it describes itself as "the blood of the Earth" or "the life-force of the Earth". SCP-XXXX has been noted to possess vast intelligence and the ability to assimilate information from an SCP-XXXX-1.

Discovery Log - Incident Firechild: On ██/██/2020, the Foundation received an urgent notice from the [DATA REDACTED] branch of the Tibetan Government transmitted to their CF-Networks. It was concerning about a possible, large-scale anomaly that occurred approximately three hours before, and attached to it were encrypted surveillance videos providing a summary of the incident.

As an immediate response, Chief Field Agents "Ogami" O and "Daigoro" D were deployed to handle the investigation of the anomaly in question. Their first lead was the hospital in which the child, currently in a semi-comatose state, was transferred to. Their first priority before assessing the child was to question the surviving witnesses of the incident. The witnesses described the child as "possessed by an angry spirit", and others witnessed the child "crying with tears of fire". Further descriptions remarked that the child walked around screaming "I hate my father!" without cessation. After administering Class A amnestics to the witnesses, agents O and D proceeded to investigate the child and the possibility of an SCP Protocol.

When they arrived to see the child, identified as A███ X█████ they were met with a boy of ten years old suffering from fourth-degree burns on a whole-body scale. Agent O began his audio-recorded examination of the boy, while Agent D began questioning the staff who were handling the patient at present. The body of the boy was damaged to the point of charring and disfiguration. Certain skeletal parts were recognizably jutting out of the skin. Although, complete neurotmesis of the body did not clarify the semi-comatose condition of the boy; cardiac muscles were barely functioning enough to provide blood supplies to essential organs, specifically the lungs. Nevertheless, the respiratory system worked, and the boy was able to breathe albeit strained. The boy was mumbling softly, despite its obvious situation. Twenty seconds later in the middle of Agent O's examination, the boy opened its eyes. Agent O initiated communication:

Along with MTF Epsilon-8, Agents Ogami and Daigoro pursued the liquid mass, which was hovering above and through a number of buildings and propelling itself at a speed of 12km/s. The flight path of the liquid mass led the Foundation to the eventual discovery of the ██████ Temple, 10km away north from the hospital. Agents Ogami and Daigoro followed the liquid mass on foot, nonstop.

They were able to follow the liquid mass drift into the temple. Inside, Agents Ogami and Daigoro stepped before a temple pool. The pool itself is at the center of the temple, constructed within an open stupa, a strange architectural design for a Buddhist temple. Around the pool were a circle of seven monks, nonresponsive to the agents’ intrusion into their meditation. Agent O approached the pool closer in order the study the structure. In the pool was a body of water, inhabited by several lotus flowers. Both of the agents reasoned that this was the source of the anomaly due its temperature— it was -2 °C outside, but the water's temperature did not fall or rise out of 15 °C. Afterwards, as they were about to call again the Foundation to inspect the source, they were greeted by the head monk. Agent O has video recorded the interaction, as usual:

MTF Epsilon-8 arrived later after this incident. Agent Ogami and Daigoro were recovered, of sound health and mind. They were sent back for debriefing and psychological evaluation. The temple was secured, and a perimeter was quickly constructed around it. The Nepalese Government demanded the rights to acquire the temple under their authority. O5 sent Mr. [DATA REDACTED] to arbitrate the dispute, and afterwards they receded their request post-haste. Consequently, all video surveillance cameras that were covertly installed in the temple, by the Nepalese Government, were removed. MTF Epsilon-8 were replaced by Omega-1.

The identity of the khenchen was confirmed as [DATA REDACTED]. There are no surviving members of his family. His father was a famous horologist in Kathmandu, and ran a repair shop before his death. His mother served as a custodian for the temple.

The preliminary reports were still incomplete; much more of the anomaly was unexplained. It is was not conclusive at that time if the water and the vocal entity were two separate beings. The Foundation initiated a high-priority declassification of the anomaly in question. O5 recommended Senior Researcher Dr. Damien to spearhead the operation. However, Agents Ogami and Daigoro both forwarded their recommendation for Dr. Vidyarthi, who was well-known in the field for his expertise in religion-connected anomalies, especially Buddhism. Both parties reached a consensus: to place both senior researchers in a joint operation. Thus, Dr. Damien and Dr. Vidyarthi began their work the Waters of Wisdom, then known as SCP-XXXX.

Experimentation Log – SCP XXXX: From their studies of recorded footage, the two researchers extrapolated that the major part of the mysterious anomaly can only be undisclosed by ingesting the water. Based also from historic texts the temple library provided them, there is esoteric information describing the water as the “heart of the world”, which is a close allusion to the Anavatapta, a mythical lake in the center of the word. Its waters were capable to extinguish the metaphorical fires that trouble beings, as written in the tales.

The scholar monks protected the water from the public eye, employing the prophetic tradition of khenchens, who were able to communicate with the water by the use of deep meditation. This succession lasted for centuries, and it the coming of a new khenchen ultimately meant the end of the previous khenchen. The seven monks around the pool, however, are still unknown in origin.
