Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard containment cell under constant video surveillance. All interactions must be approved by a researcher of 02 rank or higher.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a toy safe, measuring 15 centimeters by 15 centimeters by 30 centimeters matching an existing model sold in commercial retail stores. SCP-XXXX possesses a standard 10-pin keypad lock and an insert slot designed for US coins, though other small change of similar dimensions and folded paper bills are also accepted.

Despite being apparently comprised of standard polystyrene plastic, SCP-XXXX is remarkably resilient to damage, and all attempts at opening SCP-XXXX improperly (including the usage of oxyacetylene torches, plastic explosives, and the like) have yielded no results. The interior of SCP-XXXX can only be accessed by inserting an appropriately-sized coin or bill into the slot and inputting a 4-digit number matching the date that the currency was created. If the safe is not accessed within a 72-hour period, the contents within “reset” and are emptied, and new money must be inserted.

SCP-XXXX's most notable anomalous property exhibits itself whenever a coin or paper bill is deposited into its slot. After inputting the currency's date of manufacture and opening the safe, an item fitting within the dimensions of the safe's interior will present itself. Approximately 60% of all resultant items are intact upon recovery, with the remaining 40% being found in various states of disrepair. All recovered items, however, are found covered in a film of unidentified viscous orange fluid, hereby referred to as Substance XXXX-A.

Substance XXXX-A appears to act as some form of preservative, rendering the results of carbon-dating and other such methods ultimately inconclusive. Alternative ways of tracking SCP-XXXX's contents must be sought, such as cross-referencing of historical data, first-hand accounts, etc.

Experiment Log 1

Experiment Log 1 entails the initial interactions made with SCP-XXXX by the Foundation.

Test 1A
Subject used: A US quarter, year minted: 1964
Result: A copy of the January 1964 issue of Playboy Magazine. Testing via carbon-dating was incongruent with the alleged date, being approximately only a few months old; despite this, no official reprints of the magazine have been recorded as of ██/██/██.

Test 1B
Subject used: A US Silver Dollar, minted 1880
Result: A box of .46 caliber rimfire cartridges. Production of such rounds ceased in 1917.

Test 1C
Subject used: A Japanese 10,000 yen bill, minted 2013
Result: A small stereo boombox, found in a state of severe disrepair. Said boombox was confirmed to be in production during 2013; tracking of the serial number lead to a (now-defunct) electronics factory in Guangzhou, China.

Test 1D-A
Subject used: A 1 dollar bill, freshly printed, never used.
Result: The deposited dollar was recovered.

Test 1D-B
Subject used: The same 1 dollar bill as found in Test D, used in a vending machine by Agent ██████ after Test 1E and later retrieved for testing.
Result: An empty bag of snack cookies, identical to the one purchased by Agent ██████ some 45 minutes prior. Agent ██████'s fingerprints were found on the bag, and inspection of the waste bin reportedly used by him revealed no evidence of such contents, though no one else had been through the room in the time between his presence and test E.

Test 1E
Subject used: A counterfeit Canadian 5 dollar bill, fabricated on-site by Foundation personnel.
Result: None apparent.

Test 1F
Subject used: A counterfeit US 1 dollar Sacajawea coin, confiscated 2016.
Result: A hypodermic needle, containing trace amounts of diamorphine (heroin) and dried blood. DNA testing identified one [REDACTED].
Note: SCP-XXXX seems to retrieve items based on exchanges made with the money in question, rather than the validity thereof.

Test 1G
Subject used: A US 100-dollar bill, printed 2017.
Result: [DATA EXPUNGED]. Site was placed under quarantine for 1 week while containment procedures were in effect. Processing of the resultant item has been filed for future SCP classification.
Note: Investigation has been filed into the possible transactions of anomalous items by certain Foundation Groups of Interest.

Experiment Log 2

Experiment Log 2 entails deliberate testing of various alternative currencies not recognized in a national capacity, as the results of Test G warranted further exploration.

Test 2A

Subject used: A 5-dollar bill used in the board game "Monopoly."
Result: Small plastic house pieces of various colors, also found in said board game.

Test 2B
Subject used: A bank check, written out to the amount of $150USD to Doctor █████████, previously cashed (check was later marked to prevent re-use). Doctor █████████ requested that he receive the enclosed amount in 10-dollar bills.
Date circulated:
Result: $30USD, given in bills of $10.

Experiment Log 3

Enclosed within Experiment Log 3 are a number of tests pertaining to re-use of currency deposited into SCP-XXXX.

Test 3A-A
Subject used: 1 $10 bill USD.
Result: A stuffed animal, made in the shape of a giraffe.
