Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Euclid (formerly safe)

Special Containment Procedures: Class reassignment to Keter denied. Object is unable to leave containment unless interacted with by human presence, however due to its inherently violent nature it will be reclassified as Euclid. Currently SCP-XXXX is contained in a 100 meter circular holding cell along with SCP-XXXX-1 at site [Redacted]. The walls are made of a material which prevents telepathic connection. All contact with the SCP is strictly prohibited unless determined otherwise by 05-[Redacted] due to incident SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a heart monitor that was discovered in a sleep study clinic in Albuquerque, New Mexico on 07/21/1996. The serial number of SCP-XXXX has no record with the company stamped on the object, and any attempts to dismantle the object has left the personnel attempting the dismantling in a comatose state. Containment is sustainable as long as SCP-XXXX does not make psychological contact with any humans. It’s means of telepathic contact are unknown.

SCP-XXXX-1: A humanoid form that appears to be transparent in well lit conditions. In poorly lit conditions SCP-XXXX-1 becomes opaque to the human eye. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to have no discernible features or distinguishing marks on it. It takes shape depending on the memory of the person perceiving the object. SCP-XXXX-1 has a corporeal form even though it may appear to be nearly invisible to normal human perception. This SCP can create a telepathic link with any human in a 50 Meter Radius of SCP-XXXX which it is permanently tethered to for unknown reasons. Once a link is established with any sapient being the object can take complete control of the subject. The link can pass through any solid objects. The commands of SCP-XXXX-1 extend well beyond its telepathic link range. The command actions of SCP-XXXX-1 take complete cognitive function of any persons linked to the object. Once the link is broken the person will act as if they have seen someone they miss, or remember fondly.

The item was alerted to the presence of the foundation by Dr. Victor Torres after several incidents involving patients attacking staff due to hallucinations after waking from sleep studies. One patient claimed to see his long deceased spouse after waking from his study. Most incidents were simply written off by staff as symptoms of sleep deprivation, or an active imagination post R.E.M. sleep. Subjects would have no recollection of the incident afterwards only assuming it had all been a dream.

After being removed from the clinic SCP-XXXX was taken to site [Redacted] for further study. Initially the civilians that had previously been exposed to SCP-XXXX were tested, however most forms of amnestics proved to be ineffective, and to keep the foundations secrets from being exposed the subjects were ordered terminated by Dr. Smith. It was only later discovered that Class G amnestics were the only ones to function after exposure to SCP-XXXX. The oversight by Dr. Smith has forced the foundation to ask him to resign from his post and has since been given Class F Amnestics. Currently, he is being monitored to see if the effects of the Class F will wear off.

Incident SCP-XXXX-A: Testing on SCP-XXXX was initiated immediately once a new doctor, Dr. William, was assigned to the case. He began looking for D class subjects that were under constant watch due to their immunity to amnestics. A certain D class subject, who will now be referred to as D-XXXX, was found to have multiple sleep issues including Insomnia, Sleep Paralysis, and Exploding Head Syndrome. D-XXXX was told he was being put in an experimental sleep study designed to track the brain functions of R.E.M. sleep and to uncover the mysteries of the dream world.

Subject was eager to begin the trial, but had to be forced into sedation due to the insomnia preventing D-XXXX from rest. When asleep the heart and brain functions were normal. However once the subject entered R.E.M sleep, the heart rate of the subject began to increase at a lethal rate. Cuts and bruises began appearing on the subjects body and then a humanoid form materialized in the room. At that Moment subject D-XXXX expired. SCP-XXXX-1 scanned the room and met with the eyes of the observer through a one-way mirror.

SCP-XXXX-1 spoke in a voice that sounds like rattling vocal cords. “I see you. I can see what you are, and I know what you’re capable of. The Guard outside the door, I want you to take his gun. You know what to do once he’s dispatched.”

The camera shows the observer stand up from his post, nod in agreement and walk to the door. The camera in the corridor was malfunctioning, but the flash of the gunshot can be seen from inside the observation room footage. That night the observer caused a containment breach of SCP. The most dangerous SCP in that particular compound. It has since been placed back into proper containment, but at a loss of more lives than necessary. The observer died by a self-inflicted gunshot to the head after releasing SCP-1146 from containment.

Due to incident SCP-XXXX-A, SCP-XXXX was relocated to site [Redacted] where it is currently held. As long as no telepathic link is connected, SCP-XXXX can be temporarily neutralized. Currently the foundation has anti-telepathic gear, but SCP-XXXX-1 can directly link to sapient beings by touch. Movement of SCP-XXXX was performed by staff given adrenaline while wearing the anti-telepathic gear.

Incident SCP-XXXX-B: Relocation of SCP-XXXX to prevent further breaches was attempted, but SCP-XXXX linked with a security officer, Sarah. When entering site [Redacted], she turned her weapon on the other members of staff. Seven members of foundation staff were critically injured, and four more were pronounced dead immediately. She then attempted to escape the facility with SCP-XXXX. Sarah has since been placed in D-class after passing psychological testing, since all Amnestics were proven ineffective. Once SCP-XXXX was placed into containment 05-[Redacted] has restricted completely all access to SCP-XXXX due to its dangerous nature.
