SCP-XXXX in containment
O1 to O3 personnel access: Some information in this document has been [REDACTED].
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: The item is kept in a glass cube display cabinet in the middle of a pure steel cube-shaped 3.05 x 3.05-meter containment cell. The entrance to the room is guarded by a 300 pound 2.15 meter high, 1.25 meter wide rectangular concrete steel vault door, aside from 2 security guards keeping watch on the outside of the cell at all times 24/7. The object must always be completely drained of all battery life and must be turned off at all times except for when in the case of testing. Only O4 and above researchers may test only with the ██████ approval of the O5 Council. When starting testing, all personnel must charge the object to 10% battery life only, anything more than the given amount is considered suspicious to all foundation personnel and should be brought in for immediate interrogation. When finishing testing, all researchers performing the test must drain the battery from the object as quickly and efficiently as possible (Turning on the flashlight, playing video games, and activating apps that take a large amount of memory is highly recommended - CAUTION: DO NOT LISTEN TO MUSIC DURING THIS PROCESS, ALL WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THIS RULE WILL BE TREATED WITH AMNESTICS AND WILL BECOME PERMANENTLY DEMOTED. Security guards must be switched out every 8 hours for new personnel to take their place. All guards assigned must be extremely █████ ██ ███ ██ ███████.
Description: SCP-XXXX strongly resembles a regular Samsung Galaxy Series 6 BLACK 32 gigabyte phone. The phone seemed to have been through some rough history, having a giant crack along most of the screen. The crack has been analyzed to be caused by a sudden pressure appliance (most likely from a droppage onto a solid matter) from the top half of the phone, and a violent puncture resembling an unidentifiable bite mark located near the bottom half of the phone.
The ability of the phone isn’t exactly the phone itself, but what happens when you activate SCP-XXXX-01. SCP-XXXX-01 is the Google Play Music version 8.26. 8771-1 app. When activated, the phone will play any song or sound that the listener is thinking of wanting to hear next. This process only works when the listener is wearing headphones or earphones connected to the phone via headphone connector (Bluetooth connections have shown not to work during this process). The process begins when the listener connects their headphones to the phone, activates the Google Play Music app, plays a random downloaded music track on the phone, and puts the music track order on shuffle. Next, the listener will have to think of a song/sound they would wish the music player to play next, and in almost all cases the wish will be granted. The songs being wished to play can be almost anything it seems, from songs that the listener forgets the name of but recognizes the melody, a random sound that a listener has heard before, the sound of memories the listener has experienced in the past in a first or third-person perspective, songs that don’t even exist but are created by the listener through what they remix randomly in their brainwaves, or just songs that the listener is fully aware of the sound and name. The only sounds that are not accessible through SCP-XXXX-01 are sounds from the future. Wishing requests such as “10 seconds from now in my own perspective” does not work, however wishing “10 seconds before” works with no problems. It's shown that this process does not work through speakers, even if there is only one person in a room listening to it. It's also shown that as soon as the listener removes even one earphone or headphone the tiniest amount away from their ear, the app will immediately shut down and the music will turn off. Playing the music through the listener’s headphones so loud to the point others around the listener should hear it does not work, no matter how close to the listener one maybe, they would not be able to hear anything. It has been determined from this research that the phone can’t play anything through your headphones, but instead the headphones enhance anything that your mind desires to hear. The phone is predicted to control what it enhances you to “hear” through a tracklist that your mind keeps adding to. This all means that instead of the phone playing sound through the headphones, it somehow plays it in your mind. However, all of this still doesn't explain how the phone can enhance the listener's memory so perfectly to the point where it can play songs the listener barely remembers, sounds the listener has never heard before, and 3rd person perspectives of memories. Further research will need to be done. This SCP is an incredibly important asset to the foundation due to the phone allowing access to almost any talked about secret information O5 personnel would want to know about. Many SCP’s and secrets about organizations against the foundation have been discovered because of SCP-XXXX.
