SCP-5893-A at initial recovery site

Item #: SCP-5893

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5893 and all its instances are to be contained in Site-██ in separate, 1 meter thick 20x20 meter steel chamber measuring 5 meters in height. The inside of the chamber is to be coated in several layers of caramelized sugar and high fructose corn syrup several times a day in order to help neutralize the anomalous effects. No personnel are permitted to enter the containment chamber without level 4 or higher security clearance and protective equipment to stop the effect of wanting to use SCP-5893.

Description: SCP-5893 refers to three (3) NordicTrack 2.5 CHP treadmills hereby referred to as SCP-5893-A, SCP-5893-B, and SCP-5893-C. Despite the identical resemblance to a NordicTrack treadmill, executives from NordicTrack deny ever having produced treadmills with the serials number found on SCP-5893. SCP-5893 is not considered to be sapient.

When within a 15-meter radius, a subject will experience a strong urge to use the nearest SCP-5893, which will becone stronger once the subject draws closer to the object. Once the subject, now reffered to as SCP-5893-1, mounts an SCP-5893, the speeds on the treadmill speed up to speeds ranging from 9 to ██ km/h. During this time, other subjects near the anomaly will not feel the urge to use it, and an invisible, inpenetrable barrier will surround the object, denying both entry and exit. SCP-5893-1 is forced to run and is unable to stop, resulting in certain death due to exhaustion. Once SCP-5893-1 is dead, all other anomalous effects will resume.

When within 100 meters, any and all food products with high fat and sugar content will begin to disintegrate and will continue until no trace is left. Many tests have been conducted by Dr. ████████ to learn more about this effect, and it has been discorvered the the higher the fat/sugar content, and the closer the food product is to an SCP-5893, the faster it will disintegrate.

It is also important to note that another discovery has been made where it has been found out that while an SCP-5893 is "consuming" food products, its other anomalous effects will slow down. This discovery has led to authorization to coat the inner walls of the containment chambers with caramelized sugar and high fructose corn syrup several times per day.

SCP-5893-A was discovered inside a household in the neighborhood of ████████ in Missouri in 20██. The family risiding in the household started reporting anomalous effects to the police starting "with all sugary food near the treadmill disappearing". This effect then progressed into a strong urge to use SCP-5883-A.

When the SCP foundation was notified, a squad consisting of ten (10) members was sent out on-site for containment and relocation to Site-██. While on-site, one of the squad team members began using SCP-5983-A, and ran at a high speed for an extended period of time. Now referred to as SCP-5893-1, SCP-5983-1 showed signs of distress and severe exhaustion before eventually collapsing. All attempts to rescue SCP -5893-1 have since failed.

Addendums:

Addendum A: On █/██/████, one day after the squad member used SCP-5893-A, another instance of SCP-5893 appeared next to SCP-5893-A, now referred to as SCP-5893-B. At the time, it was unknown what caused this to happen. It was only after a D-Class subject used SCP-5893-A, and a new instance of SCP-5893 appeared, now reffered to as SCP-5893-C, that it was discovered that SCP-5893 uses the energy from its victims to create copies of itself.

Addendum B: After attempts to destroy SCP-5893-B and SCP-5893-C, it was discovered that instances of SCP-5893 are indestructible, and all testing involving mounting an instance of SCP-5893 now requires O5-level approval.
