Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: A watchtower is to be constructed at the edge of SCP-XXXX, and staffed by Foundation personnel at all times. The perimeter of SCP-XXXX is to be monitored, and any abnormal activity is to be immediately reported to the Overseer of Site-143.
At least six mobile Scranton Reality Anchors are to be kept in working order and ready for deployment at the watchtower at all times. Additionally, Kant counters are to be installed along the perimeter of SCP-XXXX at intervals of half a kilometer, and kept in working order at all times.
A cover story it to be distributed to all Russian media outlets, and any other outlets that attempt to investigate Krestovaya, stating that the city was destroyed in an earthquake, and the area is not safe to enter.
Description: SCP-XXXX-2 is the designation for an area approximately sixty-four kilometers in diameter, centered around a point five kilometers off the coast of the former city of Krestovaya, Russia. The area is subject to lower than normal Hume levels, on average 15% lower than normal reality. Additionally, several key elements necessary to sustain life are completely absent within SCP-XXXX-2, including iron, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur.
Due to the lack of these elements, no native flora or fauna are found within SCP-XXXX. Living beings brought into SCP-XXXX-2 can survive as long as they have access to the missing elements, whether via artificial supplement or via their own reserves.
SCP-XXXX-1 is the designation for an extradimensional landmass that manifested on January 17th, 20██ and completely destroyed the original land and ocean in the area. SCP-XXXX-1 demanifested approximately eighteen hours after manifesting, leaving behind SCP-XXXX-2.
Prior to SCP-XXXX-1's manifestation, the Russian city of Krestovaya was located within the area. In its current state, only small traces of the city remain within SCP-XXXX, mostly pieces of rubble and destroyed roads, all in a state of advanced degradation.
Addendum-XXXX-01:
On January 17th, 20██, SCP-XXXX-1 manifested near the city of Krestovaya, Russia. A Russian state trooper on firewatch duty near the perimeter of SCP-XXXX-1 witnessed the event and contacted his supervisor, who in turn contacted the Russian government. GRU Division "P" amnesticized the trooper dispatched a squad to investigate the anomaly. The squad went missing within four hours of dispatch, and shortly afterwards, the SCP Foundation was notified and MTF Ipsilon-8, 'Trudgeboots', was dispatched from Site-143. The following is a post-mission report given by Ipsilon-8-Alpha, the team leader.
Four of us; Beta, Gamma, Zeta and myself, entered the zone at 0845. We were geared to the teeth; hazmat suits, flashlights, light firearms, incendiaries, rations, an extra air supply, you name it. Just a standard exploration mission, no obvious threats, nothing too bad.
As soon as we set foot in the zone, Gamma got a severe migraine, but refused to head back out so soon, so we pushed in. Everything was in shades of black and grey, even the air. Visibility wasn't more than five or six feet, even with our flashlights. The whole place felt wrong, like it didn't quite fit in with the regular world outside. The ground was all kinds of messed up. Some places crunched under our boots, others sunk down a good six or seven inches. It made the going slow, but not dangerous.
After maybe half an hour of walking, we noted an upwards incline. Another fifteen minutes, and we crested a hill. Looking down the other side, we got a better look at the area. It was huge, mostly flat, and completely devoid of the forest and town that used to be here. There were a few dead trees and bushes, but they were all warped and tangled, like they got run through a combine harvester a few times and spat back out. The air at the top of the hill was better than down below, enough that we could see most of the area from one spot. The land stretched way out into the ocean, all of it black and wrong. Weird, shadowy apparitions wandered around below us, some humanoid, some not, but none of them seemed to notice us.
At the far edge of the area was a huge city. I'm talking like, the tallest building was easily six or seven kilometers tall, and the walls encompassed well over half the entire area. The whole city was pitch black, and hurt to look at, so we just took a few photos and kept our eyes low.
At that point, Site Command finally got through our radios. Apparently there'd been some interference ever since we entered the area. Told us to come back, something about dangerous radiation levels, so we turned around and started back down the hill. Gamma just stood there, at the top of the hill, staring at that city and clutching his head. Mumbled something about 'blinded ones', then took off down the other side of the hill. I ordered him back, but by the time he reached the bottom of the hill.. he was gone. No clue what happened to him, one moment he was there, the next it was just black smoke and those apparition things. The rest of us weren't keen on following him, so we legged it back out.
Approximately six hours after the expedition concluded, a major seismic event was picked up around SCP-XXXX-1, measuring an 8.8 on the Richter scale at its peak. During the event, the entire landmass of SCP-XXXX-1 was seen levitating away from the Earth, rising approximately half a kilometer into the air before folding in on itself and vanishing over the course of thirty-six seconds. The area it previously occupied was permanent affected and reclassified as SCP-XXXX-2 shortly thereafter.
