Pathogen Carrier

Item #: SCP-xxx

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-xxx must be contained in an air-tight chamber with its own gas cycling and conditioning system at all times. Personnel entering the chamber are required to enter an air lock and receive a bleach shower before entering. Any laceration to the suit of any persons must be immediately repaired, and the person inside the lacerated suit must be transported to quarantine without delay. Personnel leaving the chamber must receive another bleach bath and exit their suits thereafter. Janitorial crews are required to inspect the suits for any abnormality that may compromise the effectiveness of protection.

Description: Contained in Site-19 after discovery in July of 2001. Species is indistinguishable due to severe decomposition, but it is believed to be a member of the genus Canis due to the corpse (pictured above) found at the scene of its discovery. The animal poses no threat to personnel aside from the pathogen it carries. Possibility of the pathogen being a prion disease has been eliminated. It is most likely a highly contagious airborne virus that causes the misfolding of proteins in the nervous system. All infected personnel and non-human entities have displayed common symptoms of eroded brain tissue in the stem and frontal lobe, caving in of the eyes, blindness, and severe contraction and erosion of intestinal tissue. The pathogen is hesitant to kill its victims, therefore making euthanasia of infected humans the most ethical course of action. Common reference to the pathogen: “███████ Disorder”.

The pathogen carrier itself is timid and non-aggressive. While severely weakened due to the infection it is not in critical condition. Estimated age is 9 years. The item is passive but caution must be taken in expectation of accidental damage to personnel. Item may tear suits while seizing.

Chamber must be entered by two or more personnel every other day to clean defecation and urine from the animal. Blood clotting disorder may cause excessive bleeding from abdomen and intestinal area. Rotting on the stomach must be closely monitored to ensure that vital organs remain functional. The item must be fed or it will quickly resort to chewing on its own limbs and/or personnel.

The pathogen infecting Item SCP-xxx has severe potential to become a biological warfare weapon. Caution must be taken to ensure that ████████ does not access knowledge of the genetics of the pathogen (found in Documents ████, ███, and 0█7█). If information is detected outside of the confines of SCP Foundation, culprit must be immediately exterminated.

CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING LEAD IN ███████, ████████. DETECTED POSSESSION OF PATHOGEN.
