Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in Dr. Bright's office when not in use. If you find SCP-XXXX, or come to possess SCP-XXXX, please slide it under the door to Dr. Bright's office. D-class personnel are no longer allowed near SCP-XXXX (See Incident XXXX-1).
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a standard, solid white envelope sold by ███████ with no text or decorations. Its dimensions are 110 x 220mm. There is a standard square of glue at the envelope fold that can be licked to seal SCP-XXXX.
For all purposes, SCP-XXXX is a plain envelope made of what seems to be paper. Unlike paper, SCP-XXXX cannot be ripped or torn. To activate SCP-XXXX, the square of glue must be licked and the envelope sealed. Upon licking the square of glue, subjects report xerostomia and slight dehydration. After being sealed, SCP-XXXX enters an active state.
Immediately after being sealed, text appears on the envelope indicating the receiver. Upon examination, the text appears to be written with a mixture of hemoglobin, platelets, proteins, and [DATA EXPUNGED]. Within 24 hours, the envelope and its contents will appear in the possession of the intended receiver. Although the method of delivery is unknown, SCP-XXXX has appeared in the following locations: jacket pockets, a briefcase, desk drawers, and a cereal box. There is no known method to influence where SCP-XXXX will appear.
Upon receiving the envelope, the receiver may easily open the flap without needing to tear anything unlike traditional envelopes. However, subjects who are not the receiver are unable to open SCP-XXXX by any means found to date. After unsealing the envelope, the text on the envelope dissipates and no evidence of its appearance is left on SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX becomes inactive while unsealed and will not dematerialize from subject's possession.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX came into foundation custody after being discovered upon police investigation of a homicide. The victim's wife reported that he had received a threat contained within SCP-XXXX a day prior to the incident. She stated that the letter itself was made with magazine cutouts, but that the envelope had "words in dark red ink." Upon producing the envelope which contained the letter, she appeared dismayed as the writing had "faded." Although this alone would not be enough for the foundation to take interest in the envelope, she stated that she had found it in her husband's jacket but was unable to open the envelope herself.
Agent ███████ discovered the existence of SCP-XXXX during routine surveillance and proceeded to work with the ███████ Police Department to obtain the anomalous envelope. It is suspected that there are more uncontained instances.
Incident XXXX-1: A D-Class asset successfully sent SCP-XXXX to their child with a note containing information of the foundation and various anomalous entities including [DATA EXPUNGED]. The child has been tracked down and given a class-A amnestic. SCP-XXXX was recovered.
Addendum: Please note that SCP-XXXX should be used to send important classified messages and not used to "hit on" foundation staff.
