Item #: XXX
SCP Class: Euclid
Special Containment procedures: SCP-XXX is to be kept in a room of 3.05 by 4.57 meters with a LEVEL 3 and above keycard able to access the room. When interacting with SCP-XXX, class D personnel may enter the room on their own with a researcher observing any and all interactions with 2 to 3 guards accompanying the researcher. When not under observation, all power directed towards SCP-XXX’s containment space must be restricted and prevent powering on without touching the power cord. Any class D personnel witnessed attempting to tamper with the cord or purposefully damage SCP-XXX are to be removed from the premises immediately and punished accordingly for insolence. At all times SCP-XXX is to be displayed on a desk table with no cloth and made of metal heavy enough to prevent attempts at lifting both SCP-XXX and the table by class D personnel. In addition, Internet access is to be made unavailable at all times within a 35 mile radius around SCP-XXX’s containment site, only utilizing paper and walkie-talkies for communication and recording of discoveries and notes.
Description: SCP-XXX is a infohazard that appears as an Dell Precision 386XS/25 desktop computer that was recovered on [REDACTED], 2001 at ██████████, Indiana at a public library following reports of hostility and attempted bombings of federal buildings. The desktop is a tan color with a tan keyboard in the ‘QWERTY’ format as the system unit hosts a disk spot with the monitor with a limited screen resolution.
The origins of SCP-XXX were nothing close to anomalous and remained as a public resource for citizens in a public library. Following the events of ‘Y2K’1 and 9/11, reports of heightened aggression and criminal behavior had increased after people frequented the library and used SCP-XXX. As a result, Site-███ had seized the device under the guise of maintenance in order to observe its effects. Local newspaper and police reports noted that victims displayed violent behavior and intent on causing mass harm to communities after being on the device and especially after browsing the internet for an indeterminate amount of time.
Upon testing and observations carried out by Dr. Hinov, it has been concluded that SCP-XXX’s main impact on victims is the rapid info-dumping of particularly violent crimes and events, mainly relating to both international and domestic terrorism. Dr. Hinov also discovered that class D personnel of differing nations such as refugees or civilians that were awaiting being granted immigration that their behavior had been directed towards their home country as opposed to only one nation, such as the United States. As a result, it is believed that SCP-XXX’s goal is to incite unrest and domestic terrorism across the world and increase incidences of paranoia and instabiltiy among its victims as those left untreated often acted erratic and recklessly, often losing their lives due to accidents they created at least 6 months following exposure.
However, due to SCP-XXX’s lack of internet access since its seizing in 2001, its information regarding weapons, chemicals and methods of killing and events related to these are stuck at any article and website detailing these prior to 2001. Unlike SCP-2521, SCP-XXX does not desire for information and its only intend seems to spread information and push victims to carry out violent acts as opposed to gather new information, but Dr. Hinov notes that this is subjected to change as it is still under investigation.
