Special Containment Procedures: Each instance of SCP-XXXX is to be held in a standart biological creature containment cell at Site-66. Instances of SCP-XXXX are each to be supplied with 5 cubic meters of metal every day. No electronic devices are permitted within SCP-XXXX's containment chamber. As of incident XXXX-1, faraday cages are put in place around the instances' holin order to prevent communication between instances and to the outside world. No device with any access to the internet or communication ability may be brought within the containment room.
Description: SCP-XXXX designates a species hairless, canid organisms discovered on a farm in ███████████, Kansas. Instances of SCP-XXXX are born about 0.3 meters long, and can grow up to 4 meters in length. At birth, instances of SCP-XXXX resemble the Eunice aphroditois, or the “Bobbit worm,” with the exception of 4 short canine legs. As they grow, their bodies become more canine in nature, except for the mouth, which does not change during development, except retracting the large pincers possessed by the larvae. Instances of SCP-XXXX seem to be able to see, smell, and hear, despite the lack of any visible sensory organs that would allow for this.
Instances of SCP-XXXX will actively seek out small scraps of metal and man-made electronics. They are able to sense strong electronic signals from up to 20 meters away, and will hunt down the source when they can. Instances of SCP-XXXX hunt alone, and will not hesitate to kill other instances of SCP-XXXX if they are hunting down the same device. Instances of SCP-XXXX do not consume any form of organic matter. Autopsy reports show that their internal organs are not properly equipped to consume animal or plant matter. Instead, they find sustenance in metal. They do not secrete normal waste products, but rather emit a thick cloud of steam and smog every 2 hours.
In the event that a specimen ingests a functioning electronic device, it will not be digested. Instead, their body will substitute it for one of its existing organs, or add it onto themselves as a sort of augmentation. It is unknown how SCP-XXXX instances keep their augmentations powered, but researchers have theorized that they might have specialized organs that can harness the electricity in the air. This electricity likely flows through their veins and arteries instead of blood, as they are identical in appearance to basic electric wiring. It is assumed confirmed that SCP-XXXX instances are conscious of their augmentations, but it is currently unknown how much knowledge they possess of human technology and they possess a sprawling understanding of human technology. What follows is a list of all currently observed augmentations.
- A toaster, re-purposed as a sort of crude cattle prod on one of the specimen’s front legs.
- A blender, restructured to replace one of the specimen’s paws with a spinning blade.
- A clock, moved to the chest of the specimen, functioning as armor.
- A police taser, mounted on the back of the specimen, still functional.
- A jackhammer, replacing most of the rear end of the specimen, functioning in a similar fashion to the tail of a scorpion.
- An electronic keyboard, moved to the back of the specimen, functioning as armor. The specimen has proven that it is still able to play the keyboard, but it does not seem to be for any clear purpose.
- An iPhone 6, attached to the underbelly of the specimen, allowing for it to communicate online, resulting in incident XXXX-1.
- A Colt 45 pistol, mounted on one on the specimen’s shoulders, still functional. The specimen’s body began to produce ammunition out of consumed metal that was not used for sustenance after this augmentation was created.
- A light bulb, placed on the head of the specimen, used to provide crude night vision.
Document XXXX-1: Incident XXXX-1
On █/█/2012, a breach in the foundation’s digital cognitohazardous media storage was detected. No files were deleted from the storage server, but an estimated 14 cognitohazards were downloaded to an anonymous source that was later discovered to be the iPhone 6 attached to SCP-XXXX-4’s underbelly. The instance was sedated, and the augmentation was removed from the instance. SCP-XXXX-4 has since exhibited extreme hostility towards all SCP personnel. Upon examination of the removed phone, it was discovered that the instance had posted the cognitohazards on ██ seperate internet forums before it was sedated. Each post had a title with a question relating to the forum’s topic, all including “see full post for more details,” with the media attached in the post. The posts were promptly deleted, but only after numerous users had viewed them. In the month following this event, the foundation dealt with █,███ cognitohazardous events, far above the average. Alterations to anomalous media put in place to remove their cognitohazardous events, such as shifts in the pitch of audio and the color of images, were reverted by SCP-XXXX-4. This confirms that instances of SCP-XXXX have the ability to access classified information about SCPs, that they understand how to navigate the internet, that they have the ability to breach high-security digital barriers, and that they appear to have a malice for humanity that goes deeper than pure instinct. Further research into these abilities of SCP-XXXX has yet to be permitted, and all further contained instances with internet-connected augmentations are to have them removed. The possibility of internal augmentations still remains, so more precautions have been taken to ensure no outside access is possible for SCP-XXXX.
