SCP- XXXX at site of containment, brightness enhanced digitally

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4486 is to be kept in a 5m x 10m windowless room, which is to be accessed via a smaller 2m x 2m room. SCP-XXXX is to be contained in the larger of the two rooms. Before opening the door of this room, the door of the smaller room must be securely closed. Both rooms are to be lit by four 15 lumen lightbulbs located in the top corners of each room. Other light sources must never be brought into either room.
SCP-XXXX refuses standard food for domestic cats, but will sometimes consume raw chicken or fish.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a small or juvenile domestic housecat (Felis catus), that appears in poorly lit halls, stairways and doorways of residential homes. SCP-XXXX was first reported in Oldbrook, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, but has also been observed in the surrounding regions and towns prior to containment.

SCP-XXXX is typically seen sitting hunched and low to the ground, appearing as a solid black shape. It is not known is SCP-XXXX has legs or a tail, as it has never been observed in a standing or walking position. When a light source brighter than 20 lumens is switched on in the vicinity, or a light source brighter than 5 lumens is shone directly at SCP-XXXX, it will disappear from sight. On touching the surface where SCP-XXXX was located, the area feels slightly warm. When the light source is removed, SCP-XXXX will reappear in the same location. If observed in low light, SCP-XXXX does nothing apart from remain still and stare at the observer. Attempts to touch SCP-XXXX result in it darting away at high speed, where it will settle in another location.

Photography of SCP-XXXX is possible, and in all photographs, its eyes will stare directly into the camera. The eyes give off a bright yellow or green glow, greater than typically seen in images of typical cats, suggesting SCP-XXXX may have particularly large eyes. Any flash on the camera must be disabled when attempting to photograph SCP-XXXX, or it will not appear in the image.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was recovered after █████ ██████ of Castlethorpe, Milton Keynes called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) to report a “strange creature in her stairs” which disappeared when she switched the light on. Many attempts to contain SCP-XXXX failed, as after capture, it would disappear and escape from its containment if exposed to any light source exceeding 20 lumens. It is unknown exactly where SCP-XXXX has appeared, as it is easily mistaken for a regular pet cat on initial viewing.
