Item #: SCP-3734

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3734 is to be kept inside a 5 x 5 x 5 meter steel container at all time. Security must monitor SCP-3734 through cameras at all times to prevent a containment breach.

Description: SCP-3734 is a rook chess piece, carved from an unknown metal that resembles silver, although actual inspection reveals it to be an alloy, containing both [REDACTED] and silver. Its weight fluctuates frequently, varying different every time it is measured. Its anomalous properties can only be viewed when it is used in a game of chess, substituting for a normal rook. Testing has been limited due to its weight variations, sometimes being unliftable. When used in a game of chess successfully, nothing happens unless SCP-3734 is the one to checkmate the enemy’s king. If this scenario takes place, SCP-3734 will advance on the king and shatter it completely. The loser of the game of chess will then be killed through the materialization of several chess pieces within their organs. Currently only the heart, kidneys, lungs, and liver have had chess pieces found within them. It is also shown that the winner begins to feel extreme remorse for their actions, and will attempt to commit suicide. Upon trying to keep such a winner in a solitary confinement cell, they gouged out their own eyeballs with their teeth, swallowed the eyeballs, and began using the teeth to slowly remove limbs. (See Addendum 3734-B) Additionally, anyone directly viewing SCP-3734 will feel compelled to lift it. (Or attempt to.)

Addendum 3734-B: D-Class-472 was sent in to attempt to lift the rook, with Dr. Sven monitoring the experiment. Note: D-472 is a serial killer, taken from death row. He has never regretted his actions, instead relishing in them.

Dr. Sven: “Alright 472, please lift the silver rook from the chessboard in front of you.”

D-472: “Just that? Alright. ”

D-472 proceeds to lift the rook, hitting himself in the face.

Dr. Sven: “Are you okay, D-472?”

D-472: “Yeah, I’m fine. Damn thing is so light, just wasn’t expecting it. Especially since this last guy told me it was like, unliftable or something.”

NOTE: Dr. Xavier: “Who the hell forgot to file the termination request for D-2432? We don’t need the cattle D-Class spreading around sensitive information!

Dr. Sven: “Good to hear. Please take a seat at the board. White side, if you may.”

D-472 takes a seat on the white side.

Dr. Sven: “We chose you for this SCP specifically because you are extremely good at chess. Send her in.”

The test chambers open and D-534 walks in.

Dr. Sven: “Please, D-534, take a seat on the black side, and begin to play. D-472, you must checkmate her with the silver rook.”

The game proceeds as normal, with D-472 ending the game in a matter of minutes.
Upon checkmating D-534 with SCP-3734, the rook moves of its own accord. It flies at a high velocity (approx. 272 km/h), it destroying her king. She looks indifferent for a moment, and then suddenly begins to sob uncontrollably.

D-472: "Hey! Are you okay!? What's wrong? Tell me!"

He seems very concerned for her, attempting to comfort her.

D-534 begins wailing at 150 decibels (louder than any human ever recorded). The tone bares significant resemblance to a “Shepard's tone”. In a matter of minutes, she dies.//

Dr. Sven: “Thank you D-472, the guards will now escort you back to your cell.”

D-472: “What the fuck? You made me kill her!”

D-472 appears to begin hyperventilating.

Dr. Sven: “Calm down 472. What's different about her from the other people you directly murdered?"

D-472: “I- I don't know! But that's fucked up! Why!?"

D-472 picks up SCP-3734 and drops it onto his head. Its weight fluctuates midfall and turns to approximately 23476 kilograms, enough force to crack the floor easily. D-472 suffers brute force trauma to the head, and subsequently dies.
