Secure. Contain. Protect. Three words trapped in our heads as the passing days aged on. As a level 3 personnel, I had access around the facility primarily site-34. It was the same routine every day. Go to work, file papers, go home. Not really exciting but I guess it can be considered important. The most interesting thing I have seen all day was some dude getting their hands cut off by a candy bowl because they couldn't stop eating the candy. I swear the things you hear these days. I take a sip of my coffee as I continue filing my reports. Ever since rumors went about of a cup that sticks to your hand and makes you drink weird shit, I made sure to bring my cup at the house instead of what this dump offers me. And maybe a straw or two. Just in case
More reports come in on my desk, I ask him "What happened this time?"
He just responds "Eh, more D-Class. You know how it is."
I just nod in response and get back to work. That's all the papers I ever get now a days. Mostly just incident reports of idiot scientists wanting to find out more of something they should just leave alone. They say D-Class are expendable, they bring in new ones every month that's for damn sure. Don't know where previous ones go. I don't get that much info and I don't really care to be honest. One day I was in the cafeteria getting, God knows what. Honestly when are we ever gonna be served real food. Site-14 has a pizza box that literally makes their favorite pizza just by touching it. Too bad we weren't lucky to have that.
Some of my old pals that work with was hanging around a table that day and I go ahead and join them in courtesy. They throw rumors around and what not and I just ignore them and pretend that I'm listening. Heard something that they kill all the D-Class after the end of a new month or so. Supposedly they are promised freedom if they survived. Yea. ok…
I headed for the restroom and as I was walking by some MTF guards acknowledged me. Familiar faces and friends. Yes I know a lot of people here and I make friends with MTF guards. God forbid if a breach occurred these guys are gonna be my protection, might as well get to know them. They just ask how my day was and we just make short talk with each other. They asked why I was only a level 3 personnel, when I qualified for a much higher position. And its true. I was one of the first members of the foundation. So I have basically seen it all. Reason why nothing is really exciting any more. Don't get me wrong we get new documents of new SCPs every few weeks or so from other sites. Things I haven't seen before and it breaks away from the monotony of incident reports. I simply respond in a joking manner "Because I like the concept of sleeping." Although I don't get enough sleep as is. They just laugh and the day proceeds as normal.
God normal… When was the last time that was relevant?
Wish things could be back to the way they were normally. That would be pleasant. But knowing what I know now, I don't think I can ever have my old life back, not the way it used to be at least, knowing how many damn anomalies are out in the world just waiting to be discovered. If I'm lucky one might kill me in my sleep instead of torturing me in a dimension then killing me. Yes, that is a thing that happens.
I rather not remember that day we went into that forest. That damn distress signal nearly got us all killed. Might as well have hotwired it to a fucking nuke cause that's about as much damage as that thing could have caused. I don't even remember what it was, any less did I know what it was when I was there. This was before the whole foundation was made. I know because I was part of the discussion of a group of people who decided upon it. Why me? Luck of the fucking draw I guess. Was the only one to survive that encounter before we knocked its ass out with tranq darts and it fell unconscious. Secured it in the most durable damn thing we could find. Didn't know what worked better: the darts or the container it was secured in. Since whatever it was didn't seem to able to break out at all. Either that or didn't care. I didn't care either. Made doing the shit safer for us.
A few days after reports got around about the encounter. We were called in a congressional meaning held secretly. Supposedly it was that important to not let the public know of this strange occurrence. Felt kind of unreasonable but understandable. Don't want to have everyone being scared straight that something my climb in their room at night and murder them. Anyways, the room was filled with senior researchers. Basically just about everyone their had a phd and masters degree in paranormal activity, go figure, and biological attributes. Your typical try to put science behind it type of ordeal.
Much of the meeting was just background detail, nothing I didntn already know from being there. The only thing that grabbed my attention was their proposal to do something. Sure it was dangerous. But what if this thing had reached populated area. What then? And we can't just let thing go out on media and have everyone know. Such a compromise was made. An organization hidden in secret from the public and supported by the national government under certain jurisdiction that all actions must be humane and within reason. As if anything that has happened can be considered "Within reason". What was the goal of the organization. To search out anomalies liks this one. Contain in a certain undergrouns facility away from the public. And study them to understand more of what they are and possibly where they are coming from and how to kill it.
