Item #: XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: No plane or ship is to travel within fifty (50) kilometers of the island on which SCP-XXXX is located, hereby designated Area-XXXX-A, unless for military purposes for the following countries: United States of America, █████ ███ ██████, the ███████ Islands, and █████. To prevent potential casualties, all monitoring of SCP-XXXX is to be be completed remotely by drones. With the exception of testing, no members of Foundation personnel are to interact with SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a ring of a black, stone-like substance, the composition of which is yet to be determined. SCP-XXXX has a circumference of 18.16 kilometers, a width of three meters, and a height of four meters. SCP-XXXX is, thus far, impervious to damage by conventional means. SCP-XXXX is located on an island at -█.██████, ███.██████, and shows no sign of previous habitation outside of the SCP in question, nor any information as to who constructed SCP-XXXX.

The anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX are activated when in the direct presence of the anomaly. If one encounters SCP-XXXX in person, the subject feels compelled to walk alongside its perimeter for a number of days equivalent to their age in years. Following this, they will come across a doorway built in SCP-XXXX, although it is unclear to Foundation personnel whether or not the doorway has a physical presence in the world. The entrance leads to a hallway of indeterminate dimensions, designated SCP-XXXX-1. Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX-1, few things are known about the anomaly, save for the lack of light.

The primary anomalous feature of SCP-XXXX only affects 79% of everyone who observes it. Experiments with the other 21% of observers show that they never find the entrance into SCP-XXXX-1. Researchers at Area-XXXX have been trying to link the people unaffected by SCP-XXXX, but their efforts have been inconclusive.

History: SCP-XXXX was discovered in 1944, when a PT boat came across Area-XXXX-A in search of downed fighter pilot Jonathan ██████, whom had gone missing two weeks earlier. When the boat found ██████, he was unwashed and disheveled, and huddled against SCP-XXXX. When two crewmembers attempted to bring him to the boat, ██████ resisted violently and cried out that “‘She needs me, I want her’”. He was brought to [DATA EXPUNGED], but committed suicide before he could explain his situation. Tales of SCP-XXXX spread throughout [REDACTED], and numerous field agents reported the properties and location of SCP-XXXX to Site-43. It was cataloged and given SCP classification in 1949.

Plans to build an offshore platform that would house researchers observing SCP-XXXX were drawn up in the early 1950s, but the administrators of Site-43 were unsure that Foundation personnel could resist the allure. A few years after Area-XXXX, an offshore research center, was completed one hundred kilometers north of Area-XXXX-1, an experiment was set up with a small cabin equipped with research equipment on a peninsula on Area-XXXX-A’s northern shore1. Two of the researchers joined SCP-XXXX, and the remaining researcher left in fear.

From that point onward, SCP-XXXX was only observed via hourly helicopter flyovers and small boats within Area-XXXX-A’s red zone. In 2015, drones were implemented in near constant observation of SCP-XXXX.

Experiment Log-XXXX: Enclosed are five experiments involving various subjects exposed to SCP-XXXX. The remains of every subject were never found.
