Manifestation of SCP-XXXX
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Containment Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a space with the volume of 1.25 cubic meters, lit to less than approximately 2 tenths candela per cubic meter in said space. The entrance to SCP-XXXX's container must be a cylindrical hallway that is lit in 360° so that SCP-XXXX cannot escape through the shadow of SCP Foundation staff. At the end of the hallway should be a small opening in the wall of SCP-XXXX's enclosure that is 60 centimeters by 60 centimeters to allow access to SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomaly that resides in darkness and becomes neutralized when exposed to light. Physical features include darkness. Most beings with sentience can sense SCP-XXXX. Feelings include, unease, queasiness, nyctophobia, scotophobia, lygophobia, achluophobia, scopaesthesia, and dread. Those diagnosed with nyctophobia, scotophobia, lygophobia, and achluophobia usually have frequent encounters with SCP-XXXX.
Being in direct contact with an area of darkness that SCP-XXXX is manifesting itself in may lead to serious psychological illness or death. Encounters with SCP-XXXX can cause, but is not limited to, death, panic attacks, black outs, heart attacks, organ failure, aneurysms, asphyxiation, paralyzation, increase in adrenaline, increase in CO2 production, and evacuation of the digestive system.
Manifestation of SCP-XXXX
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Containment Class: Keter Thaumiel
Containment Procedures: It is unknown if containment of SCP-XXXX is physically possible due to the nature of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX can, however, be summoned, or rather SCP-XXXX chooses to enter an absence of light, by reducing or eliminating light from an isolated area for an unknown duration of time, unkown status is due to a variety in testing and inconsistent results. SCP-XXXX is not always summoned after known requirements are met, leaving the SCP Foundation to believe SCP-XXXX is the only instance of its existence, but travels at the speed of light and can be anywhere light is absent. Tests attempting to summon SCP-XXXX have been successful on multiple occasions; however, repeating a successful test under the same conditions does not warrant an encounter with SCP-XXXX, even if any controlled variables are unchanged. Known requirements for an SCP-XXXX encounter are as follows:
•any space with a volume of approximately 1.25 cubic meters minimum
•less than approximately 2 tenths candela per cubic meter in said space
•air temperature maximum of 42°C (NOTE: surface temperature does not apply)
SCP-XXXX will not manifest if these requirements are unmet. SCP-XXXX will not always manifest in these conditions.
In an attempt to keep SCP-XXXX in a contained state, all areas of the SCP Foundation will be properly lit unless there is an interference with a separate anomaly.
Description: SCP-XXXX is visually darkness. SCP-XXXX is not, however, all darkness, and is rather what is in the dark. It is assumed that SCP-XXXX cannot be in two places at once. SCP-XXXX is only encountered in low light conditions (NOTE: conditions must meet requirements listed above).
Sentient objects and beings can sense SCP-XXXX presence. Intelligent and sentient objects and beings describe SCP-XXXX encounter as, "a feeling of uneasiness", "a feeling of being watched", or "a feeling of fear of what is in the dark" and is commonly explained away with paranormal activity. Clinical description of chronic encounters with SCP-XXXX can be defined as Nyctophobia, Scotophobia, Lygophobia as well as Achluophobia. However, those clinically diagnosed with the aforementioned phobias may be false manifestations of SCP-XXXX and could be dismissed as a fabrication of the mind or an irrational fear of encounters with SCP-XXXX. It is worth noting some may hallucinate an encounter with SCP-XXXX in a case of sleep paralysis.
As long as sentient objects and beings are not in direct contact with the area (NOTE: any darkness that meets the requirements listed above) SCP-XXXX is currently manifesting itself in, said sentient objects and beings are safe from any negative physical affects caused by SCP-XXXX; however, negative psychological effects are found in many sentient objects and beings after frequent, common, or chronic encounters with SCP-XXXX.
Physical encounters with the area SCP-XXXX is currently manifesting itself in can cause serious injury, death, or disappearance (NOTE: all those who are disappeared by SCP-XXXX have been labeled EXODUS in SCP Foundation files). If a sentient object or being is not disappeared by SCP-XXXX, serious injury or death occurs in cases of extreme blunt force trauma (NOTE: causes of death can only be determined post mortem due to the inability to see one when in the area SCP-XXXX is manifesting itself in).
Addendum: SCP-XXXX was reassigned from object class Keter to Thaumiel after an encounter with SCP-[REDACTED] object class Neutralized, previously Keter, led to the neutralization of SCP-[REDACTED] even after [REDACTED] was unable to Neutralize SCP-[REDACTED]. SCP-XXXX is the cause of disappeared SCPs and other organisms.
