Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be contained within an airtight storage unit, on site 103, that is fitted with surveillance and ventilation systems allowing for the dispersal and removal of herbicide "Agent Orange". This system is only to be used in events of emergency and following all completed tests on SCP-XXXX
The lid of SCP-XXXX must remain fastened at all times unless testing has been authorised by a senior researcher. In this instance the lid of SCP-XXXX may be removed for testing purposes only but must be sealed again once testing is complete and proper post test procedures have been followed.
All personnel entering SCP-XXXXs containment cell must be subjected to a full body decontamination to ensure the eradication of any foreign spores or micro-organisms carrying seeds that could possibly enter SCP-XXXX during testing and cause undesirable and/or hazardous results.
After testing on SCP-XXXX has been fullfilled the following post test procedure, designated Protocol XXXXPTP-1 must be followed:
SCP-XXXX Post Test Procedure-1
- Personnel are to assess the threat level presented by the flora affected by SCP-XXXX.
Low Threat Level
- If threat level is deemed to be safe then personnel may enter the containment area to remove the affected flora and soil from the SCP. These elements should then be placed into biological waste bags and transported to site incinerator for destruction.
- SCP-XXXX may then be refilled with soil in preparation for next test.
High Threat Level
- If threat level is deemed dangerous for personnel to enter the containment area then herbicide ventilation systems may be activated to allow the flow of "Agent Orange" into the containment area.
- When flora is deemed to be deceased by a senior researcher overseeing the experiment personnel, wearing appropriate hazmat gear, may enter the containment area and begin the removal of flora and soil into aforementioned bio-hazard bags for transport to onsite incinerator.
FOLLOWING INCIDENT XXXX-07 THE PREVIOUS POST TEST PROTOCOLS HAVE BEEN REVISED. PLEASE SEEK PROTOCOL XXXXPTP-1R FOR REVISED PROCEDURE.
After testing on SCP-XXXX has been fullfilled the following post test procedure, designated Protocol XXXXPTP-1R, must be followed:
SCP-XXXX Post Test Procedure-1 REVISED
- All personnel are to leave SCP-XXXXs containment chamber and enter the control room, sealing the doors to the containment chamber once everyone has left.
- The lid of SCP-XXXX is to be left removed, regardless of whether its anomalous effect has forced it off or not.
- Once the following protocols have been completed activation of the chambers herbicide ventilation system is to be initiated, allowing for the flow of agent orange into the chamber.
- Flow of herbicide should continue until flora has been visibly killed then left for a minimum length of one (1) week to confirm that anomalous flora produce by the SCP is dead.
- After this length of time ventilation system can be switched to remove agent orange from the containment area and once the herbicide is removed SCP-XXXXs containment area may be unsealed and re-entered.
- Personnel are to remove the deceased flora and contaminated soil, which are to be transferred for incineration, and fresh soil should be reintroduced into SCP-XXXX.
In the event of a rapid or uncontrollable biological growth, capable of resisting agent orange herbicide, protocol designated XXXXPTP-2 should be followed:
SCP-XXXX Post Test Procedure-2
- XXXXPTP-2 authorizes the use of flamethrowers to reduce and remove the flora produced by SCP-XXXX.
- Personnel entering SCP-XXXXs containment area while protocol XXXXPTP-2 is in effect must wear hazmat suits capable of withstanding high temperatures as to not be harmed by agent orange used prior to the protocols activation or the high temperatures produced from the flamethrowers and burning flora.
- Personnel should attempt to reduce the flora in size to a point where it can safely be removed, along with the soil, from SCP-XXXX so it can be incinerated externally from the jar to avoid damage to the
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a clear glass coffee jar approximately 25cm in height, with a diameter of 14.5cm. Atop the jar is a solid glass lid that can be used to seal the opening in the top. Etched atop the center of the lid is the Dr Wondertainment logo along with the phrase “Dr Wondertainments Insta-Grow Terrarium!” etched around its circumference.
At the time of SCP-XXXXs recovery the base of the jar was filled with a layer of general soil atop a thin layer of grey pebbles. These elements of SCP-XXXX do not appear to be anomalous themselves as testing has shown that they can be replaced with any soil or compost without changes to SCP-XXXXs behavior, suggesting that SCP-XXXXs anomalous properties are the result of the jar itself and not the base inside it. Testing has also proved that SCP-XXXX will only show results if the base used within the jar is something that flora can be planted in or on and survive in naturally.
SPC-XXXXs anomalous property stems from its capability to rapidly increase the rate of growth of anything planted within a base inside it, as well as mutate the flora to have properties that defy conventional laws of biology. Said anomalous property will only occur once the lid of SCP-XXXX has been fastened securely on top. After this point any any flora or seed planted within SCP-XXXX will undergo rapid growth and mutation over the course of 24 hours. After this 24 hour course has passed ,mutations being created by SCP-XXXX will cease to develop and the growth rate of the majority of specimens will return to normal unless effected by the attributes gained from mutation. Mutations and the rate of growth present in flora as a result of SCP-XXXXs anomalous property vary between different species that are affected.
Note that the effects and nature of these mutations have been noted to be much more unstable and hostile following the events of incident XXXX-07
It has been noted that during their rapid growth induced by SCP-XXXX, many flora have been seen pushing the lid off SCP-XXXX as they outgrow the length of the jar. This observation has resulted in the conclusion that the lid of SCP-XXXX acts merely as a trigger that starts the anomalous period of growth within the jar, therefore allowing for the growth of flora to be greater than the interior capacity of the jar itself.

The following note was found stuck to the bottom of SCP-XXXX during its retrieval from the store room of an abandoned garden center located in ███████████

The following tests, authorized by site director ██████, took place within the year of ████ between the dates 23/01/████ and 17/11/████. Overseeing of these experiments was fulfilled by two senior researchers over the course of this year; Dr N Turner [23/01/████ - 10/05/████] and Dr R Barb [31/05/████ - Ongoing]. These test logs have been placed in chronological order and separated by the report of incident XXXX-07 to show the change in behavior of SCP-XXXX prior to, and following incident.

Procedure: The radish is planted into five (5)cm of general purpose compost followed by the lid of SCP-XXXX is fitted over the top, beginning the 24 hour growth period.

Effect: At the end of the 24 hours the leaves sprouting from the stem of the radish had become much straighter and sprouted from the base of the stem at 90°. The leaves had equal spacing between them and upon closer inspection appeared to be streamline and slightly angled downwards. D-Class was ordered to enter the containment chamber and remove the lid from SCP-XXXX. Upon doing so the stem of the radish began to spin rapidly in a clockwise motion causing the radish to become airborne and uprooting itself from the soil, steadily continuing to rise until it had exited jar and began flying around SCP-XXXXs containment chamber. While airborne it was observed that the now exposed roots of the radish had formed the shape of a rudimentary landing landing skid while it was buried within the compost.

Observation: The "Radish-Copter" (name provided by D-Class present at time of testing) flew around the room using its propeller like leaves for around 3 hours before testing was deemed complete. During this time the "Radish-Copter" used the head of the D-Class as a helipad to land and take off from several times. Closer analysis of the leaves used for flight showed almost perfect resemblance to conventional helicopter blades, mimicking angling and shape almost perfectly. After immobilizing the radish through use of a net and pruning its rotors, dissection revealed that the interior of the radish was completely normal and that the stem just seemed to spin without the use of any form of biological rotor or joint connected to the radish.

Notes: Following the results of the experiment protocol XXXXPTP-1 was followed successfully at a low threat level status and the transfer of the radish, along with the compost used for the test, to the incinerator was successful.

Dr N Turner - Personal Notes: My first experiment on SCP-XXXX was surprisingly pleasant considering some of the other SCPs I've been assigned to. Watching that little radish start flying was a surprise to everyone and watching it zoom around the room was rather enjoyable. The smile on the D-Class's face when that little thing landed on his head was priceless, who would have thought a convicted murderer could smile at such things! I was rather disappointed that we had to apprehend and dissect the poor thing, it wasn't doing anyone any harm, but my duty calls and there is research to be done and data to be gathered. Overall my first encounter with SCP-XXXX has been a pleasant one and I look forward to future experiments.

Procedure: Bluebell seed is planted into five (5)cm of general purpose compost followed by the lid of SCP-XXXX is fitted over the top, begging the 24 hour growth period.

Effect: At the end of the 24 hours the bluebell seed had grow to produce a fully mature bluebell plant, of a normal size, within SCP-XXXX. Mutational changes resulting from SCP-XXXX were seen primarily within the flower. Changes present were the fusing of the perianth segments to create a more distinct bell shape, as well as the formation of a round bulge at the end of the stigma resembling a rudimentary clapper. Flowers followed a consistent pattern, as they dangled from the arching flower spike, where they increased in size at a rate proportional to their distance from the stem, the largest of these being roughly twice the size of a regular bluebell flower.

Observation: D-Class was ordered to enter the containment chamber and remove the lid from SCP-XXXX. Once removed D-Class was ordered to try and remove the bluebell plant from the jar so it could be examined more thoroughly. As the D-Class's hands brushed the flowers, whilst attempting to remove the plant from the jar, chimes could be heard that were quickly recognized to be being produced by the swaying of the distributed flowers. Closer inspection of these flowers once the plant had been successfully removed revealed that all flowers were capable of creating a noise, similar to bell chimes, when swung. The pitch of these chimes was affected by the size of the flower producing it as smaller flowers were shown to produce higher pitches and larger flowers to produce lower pitches.
Specimen was observed to play one of three (3) popular nursery rhymes every ten (10) minutes over the course of it's 2 hour life span before testing was deemed complete. The songs were played by the plant using its flower bells, gained from mutations as a result of SCP-XXXX, to generate the correct notes. The flowers were seen to be capable of swinging and twitching by themselves to produce the notes without external interference . The songs played during this time period were Frere Jacques, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Mary Mary quite contrary.

Dr N Turner - Personal Notes: Another pleasant outcome today. The chimes of the bluebell were incredibly soothing however this wasn't deemed to be an anomalous trait. Permission to experiment whether a fertilizer base will affect the growth rate of flora planted in SCP-XXXX has be requested. Overall I am continuing to look forward to future experiments and am curious to see what exactly what else this SCP will produce.

Procedure: Bluebell seed is planted into five (5)cm of high quality fertilizer followed by the lid of SCP-XXXX is fitted over the top, begging the 24 hour growth period.

Effect: At the end of the 24 hours the bluebell seed has grown into a fully mature plant, however unlike test A-2, the plant breached the lid of SCP-XXXX and outgrown the jar to a height of 50cm. Base of the bluebell was predominantly broader than regular specimens having thicker leaves and a wider stem. The plant had also developed an extra flower spike, both of which split off from the stem in opposite directions and curved upwards. The spikes then joined together in the air as their curves caused them to meet resulting in the formation of a tear shaped arch sprouting from the stem. At the top of this arch grew a single flower which was identical in nature and formation to those in test A-2 apart from its size which was comparable to that of a hand held bell and took up 50% of the space provided within the arch.
