Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, apprehension of infected individuals is not currently feasible. Anomalous behavior of suspect instances - henceforth to be documented as SCP-XXXX-A - may be verified by the given instance of SCP-XXXX having no measurable cerebral activity above the brain stem. Verified instances are to be reclassified as SCP-XXXX-B. Instances of SCP-XXXX-B are to be covertly monitored for study, or they are to be neutralized and replaced with a body double. The latter method is only to be used on instances garnering major political support, so as to delay the progress of SCP-XXXX's unknown intentions. Prior to the aftermath following Operation ████ (see addendum XXXX-1), the special containment procedures of SCP-XXXX involved the public assassination of confirmed instances via false-flag assets.

Description: SCP-XXXX refers to the apparent "possession" of select political or social leaders, wherein they begin to strongly advocate for heavily funding space exploration and/or programs analogous to SETI.¹ The route of infection and SCP-XXXX's origin are not known, nor is it known whether infected individuals are being influenced by a corporeal entity or an unidentified memetic agent. Alerting instances of SCP-XXXX to the fact that their secrecy has been irreversibly compromised immediately results in total brain death within the instance, with neurally-regulated biological processes immediately following suit. Notably, this appears to be a consciously activated event, as voicing suspicions to an instance of SCP-XXXX will only trigger denial. Multiple hypotheses surrounding SCP-XXXX have been proposed by assigned researchers, and they are listed in the addenda.

SCP-XXXX was discovered on May 8, 19during Incident-XXXX-1 when the late American president John F. Kennedy, when being examined by Foundation-appointed physician Dr. Albert ████████ for possible abnormalities,² noted an apparent lack of brainwave activity. Kennedy (SCP-XXXX-B-1) immediately began to dismiss the measurements as faulty, and insisted that the check-up be concluded. Strict time limits with presidential access, alongside the Foundation's restrictions on apprehending government officials, prevented further testing on SCP-XXXX-B-1, who vehemently refused to attend any further Foundation checkups. SCP-XXXX-B-1 was successfully neutralized during Operation ████. It is unknown how many instances existed prior to SCP-XXXX-B-1, but following the first instance, five more have been observed.

Addendum XXXX-1: Operation ████ was the code name for the neutralization of SCP-XXXX-B-1, under the pretense of a crazed gunman. Through extensive conditioning,³ D-XXXX-1 assumed the identity of Lee Harvey Oswald, and assassinated the president of the United States. Abduction of SCP-XXXX-B-1 was deemed non-feasible for multiple reasons, including (but not limited to) diplomatic ramifications involving the United States government, maintaining Foundation secrecy, and ethical concerns regarding abduction of a world leader. Per the override of the Ethics Committee's veto powers by O5-██, it was decided that the containment of SCP-XXXX would be through neutralization, due to concerns regarding allowing SCP-XXXX to remain uncontained.
