Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure storage area in a separate structure from the main containment building. Its requests may be met as a behavior reward.

Communication with SCP-XXXX is limited to level two personnel only. All personnel of level 3 and above are to keep a distance of 9 meters 11 meters from not remain in the same building as SCP-XXXX. It is not to exit its containment structure without being placed in a secure container.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a bronze-age gladius uncovered during an archeological dig in ███████, Bulgaria. It is sapient and is capable of communicating via telepathy. The subject claims itself to be "Faustus Portius Aruns," and has expressed in interviews that it used to be a Greek soldier that fought in the Pennepolysian Wars, despite the inconsistency of its narratives and that fact that the sword it possesses to not be of Greek origin. SCP-XXXX has so far refused to share how it arrived at ███████.

SCP-XXXX has further claimed that its current form is a punishment by Greek gods for boasting about its martial skills. The subject has revealed that it must slay "five men of the same name but of different pronunciations" in order to be freed. However, so far it has neither attempted to achieve its release conditions nor has expressed further interest in such matter in later interviews.

SCP-XXXX has also shown to be capable of retrieving data telepathically from those it communicates with it. Testing has shown that its limits of such ability extend to individuals who are present within the same structure it resides in, regardless of distance. Its telepathic abilities also allow it to communicate with individuals in its native language.

SCP-XXXX so far seems to be limited to communication with a single entity at a time. Due to information extraction being a previously unknown ability, further testing may prove this untrue. Level 3 personnel are to be advised to not remain in the same structure as SCP-XXXX even during interviews.

Testing shows that SCP-XXXX does not posses cognitohazard traits, and can be safely approached and wielded.

Interview-XXXX-A

Due to initial reports of the object being capable of communicating in Bulgarian, a linguist capable of bronze age linguistics was not used for the interview.

SCP-XXXX: Hello, who are you?

Researcher █████: I am Researcher █████, I wish to interview you.

SCP-XXXX: I guess did will do as a conversation.

Researcher █████: How did you arrive at ███████?

SCP-XXXX: Well, I… Are you here to just ask questions?

Researcher █████: Please answer the question.

SCP-XXXX: You know how the gods are petty and the whatnots, right? They stuck me into this sword when I was talking to my fellow companions about my skills with the blade. That I had to be used to draw blood from five men of the same name but different sounds. It's a bit dark in here, you know? At least I didn't need to breathe.

SCP-XXXX refused to communicate any further.
