Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Example of SCP-XXXX

Special Containment Procedures: Any public restrooms, abandoned buildings, and subway stations in the Northeast region of the U.S. should be regularly monitored for manifestations of SCP-XXXX by agents disguised as city/state workers, as instances that are removed have been found to reappear on, or around the original area. Any instances of SCP-XXXX are to be removed from the surface they’re located on immediately by scrubbing the affected area with standard cleaning supplies. Any civilians seen calling the numbers included in SCP-XXXX are to be stopped and administered Class-A amnestics.

Description: SCP-XXXX are various phone numbers, usually written in permanent marker, which appear on the walls of subway stations, and abandoned houses, but are most prevalent on the walls of public restrooms. When called, these numbers result in the disappearance of the individual within ~24 hours if they are not being monitored.

SCP-XXXX was first brought to the attention of the Foundation on █/██/20██ when reports of missing people in █████ ████, NJ suddenly spiked up from an estimated █ every 2 months to about ██ in the same period. Research in to the missing person(s) phone records on dates before the disappearance reveal that they had called one or more numbers included in SCP-XXXX.

When these numbers were searched for in local and national phone number databases, they were listed as unregistered. Testing of SCP-XXXX has been restricted, as no conclusive research can be made regarding where the missing persons go, and minimal research has been made on how to prevent disappearances. The best solution the Foundation has for containment at this moment is to cover up or remove SCP-XXXX,although the prefered method is removal. SCP-XXXX has also been found to reappear in the same, or nearby locations after being removed. Since this discovery, regular monitoring for SCP-XXXX is now required.

For information on the tests conducted, see Test Logs █/██/20██-█/██/20██

Experiments regarding SCP-XXXX were halted following Experiment XXXX-H, after Researcher ██████ went missing during testing.
