HOCKEYMASK

A non-anomalous and white goalie mask of the same model as SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Safe

Special containment procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be locked away in a locker Unit in Dr. Büchel's office outfitted with a motion sensor, designed to emit a high pitch tone and alert Foundation personnel. No more then three (3) instances should be contained, and superfluous ones are to be incinerated.
The locker is fitted with a titanium 8 digit combination lock.
All access is denied unless special clearance for testing is granted by Dr. Büchel.

Description:
SCP-XXXX are white or black Mylec brand street hockey masks constructed of ABS plastic (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), measuring 21.6 x 16.5 x 7.6 cm.

The anomalous properties manifest when an instance of SCP-XXXX is worn and fully strapped in, the mask will seemingly no longer exist from the wearers perspective. Unaffected individuals will however still be able to perceive and collide with SCP-XXXX, making the mask impossible to remove by the wearer without assistance. In addition, the wearer will no longer be able to see or hear other living organisms, except for a single human or animal (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-A), which will appear and exhibit the same physical appearance and body language of a beloved relative or animal of the wearer.

SCP-XXXX-A will emerge from behind a wall or walk/climb out of a door, hatch or window (even if said entrance is locked), or just generally out of the wearers peripheral and direct line of sight, if neither is possible. SCP-XXXX-A will attempt to make friendly physical contact with the subject, either through a handshake, hug, high-five, a kiss or whatever the wearer would feel is most appropriate behavior for the relative or animal perceived. Communication with the wearer and unaffected humans, is still possible via indirect means such as; ear pieces, monitors and text. Attempts to deliver messages to affected subjects via speakers, have been unsuccessful.

After physical contact with SCP-XXXX-A, SCP-XXXX will temporarily cease to exist, and communication through the previously mentioned methods are no longer possible, Leaving SCP-XXXX-A to be the only form of company the wearer has. At this point the wearer will also be incapable of sensing the effects other organisms have on the wearers immediate, perceived surroundings. This means if a person where to, as an example, place down their coffee mug, prior to the subject wearing SCP-XXXX and then picked it up after, it would appear as if still in place, for the wearer. Physical collision with objects and organisms will behave normally, regardless if affected by SCP-XXXX-A or not.

The only ways to reverse the effects of SCP-XXXX at this point, is if the subject either moves outside a distance of ca 100-200 km of SCP-XXXX-A, expires or terminates SCP-XXXX-A within the perceived reality. Death and termination of SCP-XXXX-A is often the most plausible solution, due to SCP-XXXX-A meticulously following the affected subject around, even kicking down doors and breaking windows to follow the wearer (SCP-XXXX-A does not exhibit hostile behavior, nor does it have super strength).

After a period of ca. 48 to 72 hours of wearing SCP-XXXX, the affected subject will seemingly transform into an additional instance of SCP-XXXX with similar properties. This effect is currently irreversible.

First instance of SCP-XXXX, was discovered on ██-██-20██ in the town of █████, Estonia after a report of a 24 year old male (hereafter referred to as subject-XXXX-01), who was spotted walking around high-fiving and hugging an imaginary friend trying to find his other friends, apparently completely oblivious to his friends who were following him, attempting communication. subject-XXXX-01 first displayed anomalous properties when they were seen briefly levitating in a squatting position while laughing, almost as if someone had lifted him from behind in a playful manner. subject-XXXX-01's actual friends were presumably disturbed by this and evacuated the area and contacted local authorities.

When Foundation agents arrived to detain subject-XXXX-01, communication was initially unsuccessful, as they completely ignored Foundation agents. When Agent Friis then attempted to physically detain the subject, they immediately exhibited extreme signs of paranoia and recoiled away from Agent Friis, and embraced an invisible man (presumably SCP-XXXX-A). Subject-XXXX-01 was anesthetized and brought to site-██ in Germany.

On the way to site-██, SCP-XXXX suddenly appeared on subjects head and was confiscated by Foundation personnel on arrival. It is believed that SCP-XXXX's effect seized, due to SCP-XXXX-A moving outside of SCP-XXXX-A's range.

SCP-XXXX-A presumably failed to follow subject-XXXX-01 into the helicopter. Subject-XXXX-01 was interviewed regarding the incident (see interview transcript below).

Subject-XXXX-01 was escorted out of Dr. Sorensen's office. Subject was allowed to visit Foundation canteen and was giving a glass of water with two (2) refills. Before being escorted out of the facility and was brought back to the town of █████ where he was first located, and was administered Class C Amnestic.

Note: This is interesting. It seems SCP-XXXX-A is not capable of verbal communication, only simple gestures. So far, it seems pretty harmless. We still need to test the object with D-Class personnel before we can safely classify it.
