Item #: SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]
Object Class: Safe.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-[VALUE REDACTED} is to be contained within the opaque container that it was found in, and said container is to be placed in a secure locker at Site-██. The container is to remain in its designated locker, and is not to be moved from said locker save for testing approved by the overseeing researcher of Site-██. Any personnel who comes into contact with SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] are to immediately be administered a Class-A amnesiac and reassigned away from SCP-[VALUE REDACTED].
In the case of a containment breach by an instance of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-2, the instance of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-2 is to be immediately terminated, and the containment of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] is to be assured by at least one D-Class personnel.
Description: SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] is a crystal composed of the mineral Musgravite1, cut into a round brilliant cut with ten facets on the lower section. Atomic scans of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] have shown it to be of the same chemical composition to a normal gem of Musgravite. However, when SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] is observed by a physically present human, SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] emits a flash of 1.3 candelas, which initiates an infection. 72 hours after infection, the observer is replaced over 0.0005 seconds by an instance of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1. This effect of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] has not been observed to occur to blind individuals (see Test Log 7), nor to individuals who view the effect in remote areas (see Test Log 2), nor recordings of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]'s effect (see Test Log 8). The infection of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] can be cured by use of amnesiacs.
SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1 occurs when a human observes the flash of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]. SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1 are humanoids of approximately 1.7 meters in height, composed of faeces (determined to be Homo sapiens), blubber (determined to be Megaptera novaeangliae), and [DATA REDACTED]. Instances of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1 are aggressive and will attack any personnel on sight. These instances have limited intelligence, and are dispatched simply. As none of the matter found in instances of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1 allign with the person replaced, study is ongoing as to where the instances originate and where the personnel removed are taken.
SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] was given to the Foundation on ██/██/████, by a man named Alex ██████. Mr. ██████ willingly handed SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] in its current containment to a Foundation agent after Incident [VALUE REDATCED]-A, which resulted in ██ infections and █ instances of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1. There were ██ casualties, including ██ fatalities. Mr. ██████ was administered Class-A amnesiacs and now has no memory of the incident.
Test Log 1
Researcher: Dr. ███
Subject: D-638291
Result: D-638291 was exposed to the flash of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]. Subject was placed into a secured chamber, and 72 hours following exposure, became an instance of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1, and subsequently terminated.
Test Log 2
Researcher: Dr. ███
Subject: D-273802
Result: D-273802 observed a live stream of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED], and was contained for 72 hours. After 72 hours, D-273802 was not found to have became an instance of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1.
Test Log 3
Researcher: Dr. █████
Subject: One Canis lupus familiaris
Result: SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] did not emit any flash. The subject did not become an instance of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1.
Note: How interesting. It appears SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] produces no effect when exposed to non-human life. - Dr. █████
Test Log 4
Researcher: Dr. █████
Subject: One Mus musculus, D-735429
Result: Both subjects were exposed to SCP-[DATA REDACTED], which flashed at 1/2 the normal intensity. Both subjects were placed into secure chambers, and released after 72 hours. An additional 72 hours later, an instance of SCP-[DATA REDACTED]-1 was found in D-735429's cell and breached containment, causing █ casualties. The Mus musculus was not found to have been replaced after the additional 72 hours.
Note: Even more fascinating. SCP-[VALUE REDACTED] seems to only have an effect on humans, and presence of non-humans lowers the intensity and increases the time taken for replacement. - Dr. █████
Test Log 5
Researcher: Dr. █████
Subject: One Foundation breakroom during break hour.
Result: SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]'s light was seen by several staff in the room. Within 30 minutes, over ██ instances of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1 occurred in the breakroom. ██ casualties were recorded.
Note: The inverse applies when more humans are added to the equation. How perplexing. - Dr. █████
Test Log 6
Researcher: Dr. ███
Subject: Dr. █████
Result: Dr. █████ was exposed to SCP-[VALUE REDACTED], and was administered Class-A amnesiacs 71 hours after exposure, and did not become an instance of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]-1.
At least Dr. █████ was of some use in his tenure here - Dr. ███
Test Log 7
Researcher: Dr. ███
Subject: D-932001, blind
Result: D-932001 was exposed to SCP-[VALUE REDACTED], which flared at its normal intensity. D-932001 was held for 144 hours, before being returned to his designated cell.
Test Log 8
Researcher: Dr. ███
Subject: D-028374
Result: D-028374 was exposed to a recording of SCP-[VALUE REDACTED]'s effect, taken during Test Log 2. D-028374 was held for 144 hours, before being returned to her designated cell.
