Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an airtight, 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 cell, at least seven metres below ground level. The walls must be made of approximately 5-inch-thick concrete, with a layer of stainless steel covering either side. The room itself is to be free of any possible breaches, and all ventilation shafts must be blocked or removed entirely, the only entrance/exit is a titanium airlock door, fitted with a deadlock vacuum seal and auto-lock protocols when not in use. Several cameras placed around the cell are to be directed precisely towards SCP-XXXX and any change in its physical properties or size and mass should be reported immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX looks to be a small pile of sand-like material, collected from a beach on the coast of [REDACTED], though small flecks of a pinkish, gelatinous substance can be seen within. If observed for lengthy amounts of time by a single person, it will continuously shift states of matter and occasionally colour. It will sometimes be the state and texture of regular sand, but shift between a liquid and a semi-transparent gas state. When exposed to SCP-XXXX, subjects will begin experience discomfort and severe paranoia. There are intervals where subjects seem to lose all knowledge of there surroundings, the subject seeming to cower away from SCP-XXXX, shouting obscenities and screaming in what only can be assumed is an unknown language. After 10-26 minutes of exposure, the subject will calm substantially, becoming almost lucid. The subject will then proceed to tear at their own flesh, with an almost serene expression on their face. In all cases, the door will lock at approximately 30 minutes after first exposure, and all security cameras will cut out, severing connection with the cell altogether. After 40 minutes, there door will unlock and in all cases, the subject will have disappeared, leaving nothing but words daubed in the victims own blood, "Now you see me, now you don't". SCP-XXXX will be reported to be slightly bigger than before the incident, and the pink flecks will be larger and even more noticable.
