Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-6849 not in use are to be contained within Vault-6849 located at Site-01. Vault is only to be opened should the SD-01 JORMUNGANDR array require it.

Description: Instances of SCP-6849 are patches of skin, ranging from 38 to 71 cm across, formerly belonging to Undocumented Anomaly-204-AOFU. Instances of SCP-6849 appear pitch black and textureless to the naked eye on one side, but grey with a somewhat reflective texture on the other. Instances posess a lizard skin-like texture on both sides.

The anomalous properties of SCP-6849 allows it to redirect electromagnetic waves regardless of wavelength. Waves are redirected from their original direction, into the black side of SCP-6849 and absorbed. For example, rays of light will visibly be riderected into SCP-6849 in the vicinity of the anomaly, should they be angled at most ~42° away from it's dark side and less than approximately 2 astronomical units away.

Addendum 6849.1: JORMUNGANDR

The SD-01 JORMUNGANDR Array is a network of 441 Foundation satellites orbiting the Sun at a distance of approximately 32 astronomical units in a spherical formation. The array is used to absorb any outgoing radio and similar electromagnetic waves.

Every JORMUNGANDR satellite contains one instance of SCP-6849, located within it's "display" section, which is a vaacumproof glass seal on the exterior of every sattelite. The opposing side of the satellite holds two gyroscopic motors, used to keep the display section of every sattelite angled towards the center of the Sol system, and to maintain the array's full coverage of all outgoing waves from the Sol system.
