Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
The following containment procedures are to be printed and hung around the site for staff to view:
- SCP-XXXX is to be monitored and patrolled by a minimum of 4 armed guards at all times.
- All civilian access to SCP-XXXX and area surrounding it is strictly prohibited. Any civilians discovered in the restricted area are to be administered Class-A amnesiacs, released on outskirts of a nearby city, and given a short story as to how they got there as a cover-up.
- Both SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B must be contained in the chamber they were originally found in within SCP-XXXX
- Under no circumstances should any member of foundation personnel attempt to move SCP-XXXX-A or SCP-XXXX-B. Any attempt made is unauthorised and will be met with a considerable reprimand.
- Post Incident XXXX-C-76984 only personnel that have scored 2 or higher on "RMAE" test (Resistance to Mind-Altering Effects) in the past 6 months are authorised to enter the chamber containing SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B.
- In case of emergence of SCP-XXXX-C, personnel are to immediately evacuate from SCP-XXXX-A chamber.
- Lethal force is authorised, should SCP-XXXX-C get past SCP-XXXX-B.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a partially ruined ancient temple built by an unknown civilisation. The temple walls are made from basalt bricks and covered in numerous runic writings and paintings depicting various things [See Addendum XXXX-12A-45 for more details]. Radio-isotope analysis of the wall material suggests SCP-XXXX was built at approximately 15000BC, making it a remnant of a civilisation older than Mesopotamia. Further testing is underway to confirm these results. The surviving temple layout consists of 9 chambers of varying sizes. The largest chamber measures 15m x 15m x 8m and houses SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B
SCP-XXXX-A is a 2.5m x 1.2m x 1m sarcophagus-like container constructed of an unknown metallic material. This material is solid black aside from the desaturated purple veins running through it. An additional item made of a similar but visibly different material prevents the sarcophagus from being opened. The lid of SCP-XXXX-A is engraved with similar runes to those found on the walls of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-A displays mind-altering effects on those within a 15m radius. Personnel report a feeling of unease and the urge to make physical contact with SCP-XXXX-A that increases proportionally to time spent inside the chamber it resides in. These effects immediately disappear once personnel leave the 15m radius.
SCP-XXXX-B is a humanoid creature that stands 3m tall. SCP-XXXX-B is an ancient automaton resembling a set of full plate armour and is made of a silver-blue coloured unknown metallic substance.
SCP-XXXX-B is holding a sword made of the same material. The visor of the helmet is made of a material that is similar to both clear crystal and glass, and a blue glow typically emits from behind it. The entity was been colloquially nicknamed 'Lunar Knight' by personnel due to its colour scheme and the crescent moon shaped markings engraved on its armour and sword.
When first discovered SCP-XXXX-B's entire body was covered in a layer of obsidian approximately 5mm thick. Radio-isotope testing suggests that this entity was encased in obsidian around 3,000 BC. SCP-XXXX-B remains in a dormant, stationary state unless someone enters the chamber it resides in or SCP-XXXX-C appears.
When someone enters the chamber that is not an instance of SCP-XXXX-C, SCP-XXXX-B will turn its head and 'scan' the person with a wave of blue light that emits from behind its visor, after which it will return to a dormant state.
If an instance of SCP-XXXX-C appears, the blue light, emitting from behind SCP-XXXX-B's visor will turn red and it will become hostile, rushing toward SCP-XXXX-C and immediately attempting to eliminate the instance with its sword.

SCP-XXXX-B current status: [Redacted]
SCP-XXXX-B1 is a sword made from the same unknown material as SCP-XXXX-B. Its total length is 150cm, with the blade of the sword measuring 115cm. SCP-XXXX-B1 was obtained during regular testing currently designated 'Event-B1'. SCP-XXXX-B1 is currently bound to HR Dr L. Cromwell who, given this fact, is forbidden from leaving SCP-XXXX containment site. SCP-XXXX-B1 imposes multiple anomalous effects on the person it is bound to. [To see the full list of known anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX-B1, visit addendum XXXX-B1-1A49]
SCP-XXXX-C was first discovered in Incident XXXX-C-76984 [See Incident report XXXX-C-76984-A11 for more information]. These entities vary in individual appearances. The only consistent qualities are hole located in the chest area, the vaguely humanoid shape of the body (although with distorted proportions) and bone-white mask resembling different skulls covering entities faces. Entities are extremely aggressive attacking every human in vicinity.
Incident report XXXX-C-76984-A11
Date of Incident: April 11, 20██
Transcription of events captured on security footage on site.
07:00 AM: Researcher John D. and Junior Researcher Alan B. enter SCP XXXX-A chamber carrying research equipment.

07:31 AM: Researcher John D. receives a message from Head Researcher Dr L. Cromwell and immediately begins to read it while Junior Researcher Allan B. waits for further instructions.
07:32 AM: Researcher John D. involuntarily starts mumbling parts of Dr L. Cromwell message aloud. The words "Touch it" are heard.
07:33 AM: Junior Researcher Allan B. closes the distance between him and object SCP-XXXX-A and places his hand atop of it. Researcher John D. notices the action of Junior Researcher Alan B. and reacts with a loud exclamation of "What are you doing?! Don't touch it!".
07:34 AM: Junior Researcher Alan B. falls on all fours making the coughing and gagging noises. Researcher John D. hits the emergency quarantine button and starts to back away from Junior Researcher Alan B.
07:35 AM: Junior Researcher Alan B. begins to vomit a thick, boiling, cement-like substance that encases his entire body, growing in size. Simultaneously, cracks begin to appear on obsidian shell surrounding object XXXX-B.
07:36 AM: Entity XXXX-C-01 emerges from the mould that Junior Researcher Alan B. was encased in. Researcher John D. screams. Entity XXXX-C-01 attacks Researcher John D and delivers a lethal bite to his throat. Cracks on object XXXX-B increase in size. Parts of obsidian shell start falling off, revealing SCP-XXXX-B underneath.
07:37 AM: Entity XXXX-C-01 starts to drag Researcher John D.'s body towards object XXXX-A. The obsidian shell surrounding Entity XXXX-B shatters. Entity XXXX-B rushes towards Entity XXXX-C-01, raising its sword to strike. The sword begins emitting a silver-blue glow.
07:38 AM: Entity XXXX-B strikes Entity XXXX-C-01 with its sword. This action results in Entity XXXX-C-01 releasing the body of Researcher John D. and bursting into silver-blue flames.

[Interview log XXXX-76984-C78]
Interviewed: 'Agent 78' Tim H█████
Interviewer: Head Researcher Dr L. Cromwell
Foreword: 'Agent 78' displayed dangerous behaviour that carried a risk of a containment breach. He was restrained by fellow agents and detained inside interrogation room 7 pending evaluation.
<Begin Log, 8:35 AM>
HR Dr L. Cromwell: I would like you to answer some questions. Starting with. Do you recall who you are?
'Agent 78': Yes, I'm Tim H█████. Codename 'Agent 78'.
HR Dr L. Cromwell: Correct. Now, do you know why you are here with me?
'Agent 78': Yes… I lost control over my actions and nearly caused another containment breach.
HR Dr L. Cromwell: Do you remember everything regarding this incident?
'Agent 78': Yes.
HR Dr L. Cromwell: Please describe to me what happened. With all the details.
'Agent 78': I entered the chamber with the rest of the containment team. We were sent to secure remains of Researcher John D. and Junior Researcher Alan B.
HR Dr L. Cromwell: I'm aware. Carry on.
'Agent 78': Immediately upon entering the chamber I felt… interested in SCP-XXXX-A. The longer I was inside the more I wanted to touch it. When we were finishing up and leaving the chamber I just… couldn't resist it anymore. I had to touch it, y'know? I needed to touch it. I couldn't think of anything else other than SCP-XXXX-A. Two guys on my team, Agent 45 and Agent 53 tried to stop me. I resisted. I… I was not myself… They dragged me out of the chamber and brought me here.
HR Dr L. Cromwell: How are you feeling now. Do you still feel the urge to go and interact with SCP-XXXX-A?
'Agent 78': No, I don't… in fact, I want to be as far away from this [EXPLETIVE] thing as possible… I was not myself. This thing… it was whispering to me, tempting me… it wanted me to touch it, and it wanted to take control over me… but I'm myself again. And I do not want anything to do with this thing.
HR Dr L. Cromwell: I see. Well, that would be the end of my questions for now. Do you have anything to add?
'Agent 78': May I ask one question myself?
HR Dr L. Cromwell: You may. Go on.
'Agent 78': What will you do to me now?
HR Dr L. Cromwell: You know the procedure. You will undergo a series of tests to evaluate your condition and then will be placed under observation for a while. Depending on the results of the tests, the decision will be made. Until then you are temporarily relieved of your duties and you will be detained. Is that all?
'Agent 78': Yes. Thank you…
<End Log, 8:50 AM>
Closing Statement: Agent 78 was put under observation and given a series of tests including 'RMAE' test.
Note of Head Researcher Dr L.Cromwell
The investigation conducted in the case of an incident XXXX-C-76984 revealed a probable cause of the incident and a solution to avoid a similar situation in the future. Both Agent 78 and deceased Junior Researcher Alan B. had scored only 1 point on a standard 'RMAE' test in past 6 months. Deceased Researcher John D. and all other members of Containment Team had scored 2 or more points on a standard 'RMAE' test in the same period. All surviving members of Containment Team were interviewed. All Agents report feeling interested in SCP-XXXX-A after entering its chamber but unlike Agent 78, none of the other agents expressed the intensity of the feeling to be noticeably strong. Therefore, the Special Containment Procedures for SCP-XXXX are to be revised to prevent the risk of another incident. Agent 78 was redirected to site█ to work with their Containment Team.
Case closed.
