SCP-4027 - The Despicable Not-hero
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-4027

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4027 is to be kept in a large animal containment unit. A ventilation and filtration system rated to handle poisonous gases is to constantly operate. In case of failure, the chamber is to be immediately evacuated via 5 high-flow fans and refilled with clean air from an on-site cryogenic air liquefaction plant. SCP-4027 is to be fed once every 7 days with 3 kg of meat paste, primarily composed of beef, pork, and poultry. Livestock used to create this meat paste should be butchered in the most inhumane ways possible, and subjected to methods of extreme torture, to increase their Combined Suffering Index (CSI=QHI1+QPI2+QDI3) to more than 15. Any personnel must wear full biohazard suits before contacting, interacting with, or containing SCP-4027. A wireless tracker is to be set on the body of SCP-4027 to track the subject if the subject leaves the chamber.

Any personnel must maintain the emotion of “hatred” (QHI>=5) toward SCP-4027. If any personnel undergo any “rescuing” action done by SCP-4027, after the “rescuing” finishes, such personnel must undergo a psychological evaluation. If such personnel are discovered to have the emotion of “thankfulness” (QHI<0) toward SCP-4027, such personnel will be treated with class B amnestics, and forced to attend Hatred Gain Training4 afterward. If such personnel transform into SCP-4027-2, they are to be terminated. All entities of SCP-4027-2 are to be terminated.

Description: SCP-4027 resembles a Chrysaora fuscescens5, with the noted ability to live out of water. Its height measures approximately 2.63 meters high, and its umbrella 1.21 meters long. SCP-4027’s umbrella resembles the shape of a human face, with a facial expression of sadness and hopelessness. SCP-4027 has 20 tentacles and 5 oral arms. They all show high extensibility and can be extended from 2 meters long to around 6 meters long. There are 1 orifice and 10 suckers found attached on each oral arm, which are observed to be used in balancing its own body, moving, ingesting food, and breathing.

SCP-4027 absorbs oxygen from its orifices. In the process of breathing, several small amounts of poison gases are released into the air around SCP-4027. The gases include carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxide, and chlorine, plus several unknown gases. The process of its respiration and how these gases are produced are still unknown.

SCP-4027 is normally extremely docile in the containment chamber. The images from the video records show that the subject in most of the time just stands still in the middle of the chamber. The subject does not respond to any action performed by any personnel nearby (except when feeding). Any personnel with appropriate protection measure can touch, attack, or even position subject without any consequence.

SCP-4027 will respond to personnel in danger within the subject’s perception area. The subject has a spherical perception range of 2 km. When SCP-4027 detects any danger of any personnel within its perception area, the subject will teleport to the nearest personnel detected immediately, and start its “rescuing” process toward the personnel. If such personnel’s life is threatened by any kind of violence done by other humans or anomalies, SCP-4027 will enter its aggression state and attempt to assault the attacker. Its common attacks include whipping with tentacles and oral arms and emitting poison gas toward the attacker. The speed of tentacles and oral arms can be up to 300 m s-1. The tentacles can also easily cut any steel wall in front of the subject.

If SCP-4027 successfully drives out the attacker and rescues the personnel, the subject will then teleport toward the next nearest personnel who are in danger. If there are no more personnel in danger, SCP-4027 will revert to its docile state and stand still. If the personnel who are rescued have the emotion of “thankfulness” (QHI<0) toward the subject, such personnel’s CSI will then increase drastically within 24 hours6. Such personnel will begin to suffer from anxiety, hallucination, and mania in the following day. When CSI of the personnel reaches 30, such personnel will finally be transformed into SCP-4027-2.

SCP-4027-2 resembles a blob of human tissues and bones, with a human face on it. The facial expression on the human face is similar to the one on SCP-4027’s umbrella. SCP-4027-2 will continuously mumble words in repetition. Example of those words are “Why?”, “Why do you do that to me?” and “I hate you”. SCP-4027-2 shows extreme aggression toward other organisms. SCP-4027-2 attacks by bumping its body onto other organisms around it. If SCP-4027-2 causes any dangerous situation toward any personnel inside SCP-4027’s perception area, SCP-4027 will teleport toward SCP-4027-2 and consume the entity using its orifices, by sucking its body gradually.

SCP-4027 requires consuming food every 7 days. The food must have a CSI of >15. SCP-4027-2 has been shown to be a good food source as its QHI, QPI and QDI are adequate. If the subject consumes one SCP-4027-2, the time between each feeding will be increased to one month. However, its perception area will also be enlarged to 6 km, which increases the risk of detecting danger outside of the site, thus causing containment breach. If SCP-4027 is unable to consume enough food of adequate CSI in 7 days, its perception range will be increased by 6 km, and the time between each feeding will be dropped by 26 hours after each substandard feeding.

SCP-4027 was discovered in Incident-4027-A at Site-27 on 31/03/2018. See Incident-4027-A.

Incident-4027-A: On 31/03/2018 14:32 at Site-27, containment breach of SCP-██ happened. SCP-██ was found attacking 5 MTF Epsilon-11 agents, and simultaneously, SCP-4027 was also found assaulting SCP-██ and protecting the agents. After the battle between the two, SCP-██ was subdued by SCP-4027 and was recontained by the MTF, along with SCP-4027 being contained. However, in the following 24 hours, agents who have been rescued by SCP-4027 began to suffer from anxiety, hallucinations, and mania. They were then successively transformed into SCP-4027-2 within the following 24 hours. Before SCP-4027-2 could do any damage to any personnel on the site, one of them was consumed by SCP-4027 (See Addendum 1), and another 4 were immediately terminated, because of SCP-4027’s behavior and the possibility of its containment breach. The whole process was observed by Dr. Brian Josephs and he suggested that the transformation might be related to the victim’s emotion of “thankfulness” toward SCP-4027, based on the evidence from Addendum 1. Because of the risk and the possibility of a chain reaction of spawning of SCP-4027-2, after taking reference from Dr. Brian Josephs’ suggestion, a new standard CSI was formulated. Moreover, the new Hatred Gain Training was also created to train personnel to prevent them from transforming into SCP-4027-2.

Addendum 1: Observation Report of SCP-4027-2 Transformation

Observation subject: Agent Chris Dawson, MTF agent who was “rescued” by SCP-4027 in Incident-4027-A
Description: This document reported the SCP-4027-2 transformation procedure of Agent Chris Dawson, with their physiological and psychological changes over time. Originally, this document was to record SCP-██’s psychological effects on the subject. However, after the observation, we found out that subject was not affected by SCP-██, but instead by SCP-4027. Here are the observations over time:

Date and time: 31/03/2018 15:33 (1 hour after Incident-4027-A)
Subject’s physiological state: No apparent change observed
Subject’s psychological state: No special change observed. The subject feels “thankful” for SCP-4027

Interviewed: Agent Chris Dawson

Interviewer: Dr. Brian Josephs

[Begin Log]

Dr. Josephs: All right, Agent Dawson. This interview is to examine your physiological and psychological state. Are you ready?

Agent Dawson: I am ready, doctor.

Dr. Josephs: OK, now, describe your physiological state please. Have you felt any injuries or any other change on your body?

Agent Dawson: No, doctor, I am fine.

Dr. Josephs: Got it. Then, how about your psychological state? Have you felt any symptoms of contacting with SCP-██?

Agent Dawson: No, I feel fine.

Dr. Josephs: Ah… that’s strange. Seeing how close you are to SCP-██… You should have felt something instead… Hmm… I guess we should observe you for a longer time. Agent, do you have anything you want to say?

Agent Dawson: I want to thank the other monster who saved us. If it wasn’t there, we’re all going to die… Well, the Foundation has finally contained some good thing…

[End Log]

Date and time: 31/03/2018 16:34 (2 hours after Incident-4027-A)
Subject’s physiological state: No apparent change observed.
Subject’s psychological state: Subject began to feel anxiety.

Interviewed: Agent Chris Dawson

Interviewer: Dr. Brian Josephs

[Begin Log]

Dr. Josephs: Agent, it seems like you’re indisposed. What happened?

Agent Dawson: I… I don’t know… Doctor. I just feel very disturbed and uncomfortable. I don’t know what happens…

Dr. Josephs: That’s strange… This is not what we know about SCP-██’s cognitohazard… Could it be because of that new SCP? All right, Agent, tell me how do you feel about that new SCP, please. Has your emotion changed after all?

Agent Dawson: You mean… the one who has saved us? I still thank it… Is my current situation related to it, Doctor?

Dr. Josephs: We will investigate on that.

[End Log]

Date and time: 31/03/2018 18:36 (4 hours after Incident-4027-A)
Subject’s physiological state: Subject’s facial expression began to twist.
Subject’s psychological state: Subject’s anxiety became more serious, and started to be suffering from hallucinations and mania.

Interviewed: Agent Chris Dawson

Interviewer: Dr. Brian Josephs

[Begin Log]

Agent Dawson: Doctor… Please… SAVE ME!

(Subject expressed its extreme anxiety.)

Dr. Josephs: Calm down, Agent! Tell me what happens.

Agent Dawson: I can see it! It’s everywhere around me. No! Don’t come close!

Dr. Josephs: What happened, Agent? What have you seen?

Agent Dawson: The… the monster! It is in front of me! It said since I thanked it, I need to repay it… with my life! OH, DON’T! PLEASE STOP!

(Subject started to scream and tap the table. Interview was forced to stop.)

[End Log]

Date and time: 31/03/2018 23:51 (7 hours after Incident-4027-A)
Subject’s physiological state: Subject’s body began to melt. Blood was coming out from subject’s eyes and nose.
Subject’s psychological state: Subject continued to scream and roll his body on the ground. The subject was shown to suffer from extreme pain, anxiety, and mania.
Notes: Due to the subject’s current situation, the interview was impossible to proceed. The observation continued.

Date and time: 01/04/2018 02:30 (12 hours after Incident-4027-A)
Subject’s physiological state: Subject’s whole body completely melted down and transformed into a creature that resembled a blob of meat-paste-like human flesh and bone tissues. Only subject’s face was visible on top of the creature. The subject was transformed into SCP-4027-2.
Subject’s psychological state: Subject began to mumble and showed aggression toward other personnel.
Notes: While the subject was attempting to attack other personnel, SCP-4027 appeared and consumed the subject. Dr. Josephs and some personnel were saved by SCP-4027 from subject’s attack. However, Dr. Josephs later suggested that the transformation may be due to the “thankful” emotion toward SCP-4027, because of how Agent Chris Dawson emphasized the “thankful” emotion. Dr. Josephs and the personnel who were saved were so treated with class B amnestics and psychological treatment. It was observed that afterward, symptoms on Agent Dawson did not appear on Dr. Josephs and the other personnel.

Addendum 2: Experiment Log of SCP-4027

Experiment-4027-1
Test Author: Dr. Carter Spencer
Description: Experiment-4027-1 was a series of experiment that created a dangerous situation with different variables, to test SCP-4027’s behavior. CSI was introduced to help to test the emotion change of the subjects.

Experiment-4027-1-1

Date: 05/04/2018
Test subject: D-13459, D class personnel
Test detail: D-13459’s waist was suspended from a rope at 1m height. The rope was cut and D-13459 fell toward the ground.
Initial indices: QHI=0, QPI=0, QDI=0, CSI=0
Test result: SCP-4027 did not arrive, and D-13459 dropped on the ground and got a minor injury.
Change in indices: QHI (toward the Foundation) and QPI slightly increased (QHI=1, QPI=1). There was no change in QDI (QDI=0). CSI=2
Notes: It seems like SCP-4027 really can distinguish what a dangerous situation is. Or… is it?

Experiment-4027-1-2

Date: 08/04/2018
Test subject: Class D personnel D-24850
Test detail: D-24850’s waist was suspended by a rope at 25m. The rope was cut and D-24580 fell toward the ground.
Initial indices: QHI=0, QPI=0, QDI=0, CSI=0
Test result: SCP-4027 arrived, and picked D-24580 before he dropped on the ground. Afterward, D-24580 thanked SCP-4027, and SCP-4027 reverted to its docile state and was recontained. After an hour, symptoms appeared on D-24580. After 14 hours, D-24580 transformed into SCP-4027-2 and was terminated immediately.
Change in indices: Just after rescued, QHI dropped (QHI=-7) due to being “thankful”, QPI slightly increased due to inhaled poison gas (QPI=2), and no change in QDI (QDI=0). When the symptoms appeared, all values increased drastically. After transformation, CSI reached 30.
Notes: It happened just as estimated, SCP-4027 does really react to danger… But then about the transformation, is the transformation really caused by the “thankful” emotion? Or because of the poison gas?

Experiment-4027-1-3

Date: 10/04/2018
Test subject: Class D personnel D-33770
Test detail: D-33770 was wearing full biohazard suit, and his waist was suspended by a rope at 25m. The rope was cut and D-33770 fell toward the ground.
Initial indices: QHI=0, QPI=0, QDI=0, CSI=0
Test result: SCP-4027 arrived, and picked D-33770 before he dropped on the ground. Afterward, SCP-4027 reverted to its docile state and was recontained. After an hour, symptoms appeared on D-33770. After 12 hours, D-24580 transformed into SCP-4027-2 and was terminated immediately.
Change in indices: Just after rescued, QHI dropped (QHI=-8) due to being “thankful”, QPI and QDI had no change (QPI=0, QDI=0). When the symptoms appeared, all values increased drastically. After transformation, CSI reached 30.
Notes: The suit has no help in preventing the transformation… but I still don’t know if the transformation is really related to the emotion of “thankfulness”… I guess… maybe we need to make the subject to “hate” first, so the subject will not thank…

Experiment-4027-1-4

Date: 12/04/2018
Test subject: Class D personnel D-35421
Test detail: D-35421 was told about SCP-4027’s information first before the experiment began. Then D-35421 wore full biohazard suit, and his waist was suspended by a rope at 25m. The rope was cut and D-35421 fell toward the ground.
Initial indices: QHI=2, QPI=0, QDI=1, CSI=3
Test result: SCP-4027 arrived, and picked D-35421 before he dropped on the ground. Afterward, SCP-4027 reverted to its docile state and was recontained. After half and an hour, symptoms appeared on D-35421. After 23 hours, D-35421 transformed into SCP-4027-2 and was terminated immediately.
Change in indices: Just after the rescue, QHI dropped less compared to other subjects (QHI=-4), QPI and QDI also had no change (QPI=0, QDI=0). When the symptoms appeared, all values increased at a less fast rate. After transformation, CSI reached 30.
Notes: It seems the initial “hate” had some effects on the transformation time… But it seems like that’s not enough… The subject is still “thankful”! We need someone that has a lot of “hate” to do one more test!

Experiment-4027-1-5

Date: 16/04/2018
Test subject: Agent Emily Dawson
Test detail: Agent Dawson is family of one of the victims in Incident-4027-A. She has been told about the Incident just after her family’s transformation. Her QHI toward SCP-4027 was already at 8 in the beginning. When the experiment started, Agent Dawson wore full biohazard suit, and her waist was suspended by a rope at 25m. The rope was cut and Agent Dawson fell to the ground.
Initial indices: QHI=8, QPI=0, QDI=0, CSI=8
Test result: SCP-4027 arrived, and picked Agent Dawson before she dropped to the ground. Agent Dawson then attempted to attack SCP-4027. SCP-4027 ignored her action, reverted to its docile state and was recontained. After several hours, there was no sign of symptoms appearing on Agent Dawson. After 24 hours, there was also no sign that Agent Dawson was transforming into SCP-4027-2.
Change in indices: Just after the rescue, QHI slightly increased (QHI=9), and QPI and QDI had no change. Within the observation in the following 24 hours, there was no change in all of the values.
Notes: Now, we can prove that Dr. Brian Josephs was right. The transformation is related to the “thankful” feeling. The way to prevent the transformation is to maintain the “hate”, and so the “thankfulness” doesn’t come out! And by the way, we also learned that SCP-4027 does not respond to any action and incident besides dangerous situation or eating, even it's someone trying to hit it. Well, that’s interesting…
