The Iron Key
Item #: SCP-4106
Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4106 is to be held in a chamber measuring 5 m x 5m x 3m of a corrosion resistant material. No glass is to be within a 50 m vicinity of the key. The only exception to this is a 0.2 m x 0.2m x 0.1m pane of colorless tempered glass. This glass appears a coal like black when the key is placed upon it, any color change must be reported to a Level 4 personnel. Surveillance cameras within the chamber must be made of plastic due to the effect of SCP-4106 on glass, which includes camera lenses. Due to SCP-4106 effect on glass, SCP-093 must be kept at a minimum of 10 kilometers from SCP-4106 at all times.

Description: SCP-4106 is a heavily rusted skeleton key dating back to the 19th century composed of 75% Iron, 20% Zinc, 4% Copper and 0.5% of both Calcium and an unknown substance. When not in contact with glass SCP-4106 will produce a black caustic liquid similar to that of the caustic substance secreted by SCP-████. The origin of this substance is unknown as there are no visible cracks on the exterior on the key. The substance can be easily collected. SCP-4106 causes glass, regardless of kind to turn completely black. The glass retains its ordinary properties when met with physical contact, however the glass seems to be extremely sensitive to sounds. Glass panes will completely shatter, spreading outwards at an abnormal radius and speed, if hit by sounds of 15 decibels or louder. If SCP-4106 is in contact with glass, the same effect will apply, however glass will not shatter until 47 decibels are reached. When in transport, SCP-4106 must be accompanied by two level 3 or higher personnel. During transportation, the surrounding area of the path of transportation must be evacuated and sectioned to prevent casualties of personnel working in the vicinity. The path of transportation must be the path with the least amounts of glass present, unless this path encounters vital containment glass.

Addendum: SCP-4106 was discovered in a locked container within the basement of an abandoned home ,which dated back to the 18th century, by a group of four trespassing juveniles just 3.4 km south of Berente, Northern Hungary, who had found the key to the container elsewhere in the house. The key and container seem to be resistant to the caustic substance released by the skeleton key however do not possess the same properties of the skeleton key in terms of their effects on glass. No abnormal effects have been discovered from the key and the container, named SCP-4106-1 and SCP-4106-2 respectively. Both the key and it's container have been tested and no unknown substance has been found that would be resistant to the caustic substance. SCP-4106 was brought to the Foundations attention after one of the juveniles had held the key, which secreted the black caustic substance corroding to the juveniles flesh. Due to the unknown nature of the substance, the juvenile was required to have his hand amputated at a nearby hospital. Foundation personnel arrived at the hospital after 39 hours after the incident had occurred and 1 hour 27 minutes after being notified, travelling from the closest site in ████████. After questioning of the juveniles by Foundation personnel undercover of police officers, the location of the key was obtained and the four juveniles and all personnel within the hospital were released after Class B amnestics were administrated.

Additional Notes: Due to SCP-4106's suspected relation towards SCP-████, Dr. ████████ has requested to bring SCP-4106 into contact with SCP-████, Request is still pending approval.
