Special Containment Procedures: Currently, the Foundation is aware of one instance of SCP-5311. It is currently on the surface of Mars and is imperative it doesn't reach Earth. The foundation must make sure all satellites have SCP-5311 blurred out so the general public does not become aware of its existence.
The foundation is unaware of the full extent of SCP-5311 as the only information the foundation has is the extra terrestrial USB. In order to prevent the Earth's destruction a special MTF team Echo 17 is to be sent to Mars via teleporters whenever a human or vessel enters Mars' atmosphere. Echo 17 is to keep reconnaissance on both SCP-5311 and the humans on Mars to ensure they are separated. Echo 17 is to prevent any knowledge or parts of SCP-5311 to go to Earth.
Description: SCP-5311 is the designation referring to a rhinoceros like creature that was revealed when Mars rover Curiosity found a USB like device. NASA spent months decrypting it and learned of "Xogon", the bio weapon created by an unknown extra terrestrial species in order to get rid of Mars' water supply and make the land extremely barren beyond repair. NASA alerted the foundation of the decryption and upon vast reviews of satellite footage the foundation found SCP-5311.

SCP-5311 appears like a standard
African black
rhinoceros except the satellites show SCP-5311 being the blackest possible black, the kind we can barely imagine. From our perspective it appears to be a giant creature. The foundation estimates that SCP-5311 is 20 metres in length and 7 metres in height with a width of 3 metres.
SCP-5311 has a giant horn that changes colour every 5 seconds. The colour changing seems to be random as no pattern has been summised.
SCP-5311 appears to slowly [REDACTED] the area it touches and it appears to keep expanding at a minuscule pace until space becomes unavailable.
SCP-5311 appears to wander Mars' surface constantly suggesting it doesn't rest or doesn't need to. Since Mars is barren it can be assumed that SCP-5311 has no need of sustenance which is interesting considering the extra terrestrial USB referred to SCP-5311 as a bio weapon.
The foundation theorises that SCP-5311 is some kind of mechanical machine due to being at least 3.7 billions years old since that is when Mars became barren.
Notes: Knowledge of SCP-5311 has existed since [REDACTED] when Mars rover Curiosity found an extra terrestrial USB hidden on the surface of Mars. NASA believed they managed to transcribe parts of the USB. The transcription can be found below.
"To any civilisations reading this. I am Polkanuh. I was ordered by the ????? of Mars to investigate how to stop the Xogon. I sadly failed to save Mars but as long as I use this anti gravity belt I should be immune to its world destroying effects and will do as much research as possible to stop this happening ?????".
"Its been two days since Xogon destroyed Mars and I still don't know why the ????? created it. Certainly not for anything on Mars. Maybe they hated us? I don't know but that doesn't matter now".
Research Log: "I have a 500 kilometre per hour plasma gun able to burn through Kavalan steel. I suspect this thing bleeds but let's find out".
"I SHOT IT IN THE ????? IT BLEEDS IT'S FRICKING ORGANIC. Never did much since its wounds healed almost instantaneously but we know it can die, I'm not yet sure how to kill it. Let me observe the creature longer".
"Xogon has gone 2 months without sustenance of any kind and I've never seen it stop. What is this thing it is organic but doesn't need energy. Like some sort of Cyborg".
"Now I have observed that Xogon is a mechanical biological hybrid it seems waiting out won't work. I need to kill it ?????. I am prepping the plasma rifle. It's all I have this is my hail Gorat".
"I started blasting at Xogon's leg and thing came off. Haha there is hope left"..

Wyvarian-Arachnid Protocol

The Wyvern-Arachnid Protocol is a planned protocol intended to be used in case Echo 17 fails to keep SCP-5311 and humans separate. Upon confirmation of The Wyvarian-Arachnid Protocol Echo 17 is to. decimate all humans on Mars and destroy any
remnants of them. NASA will alert the general populace that a massive solar flare destroyed the colony.
Incident November 25th 2019: The Wyvarian-Arachnid Protocol has only had to be used once when a deep Mars exploration mission by private company "MilkyEx" was launched. "MilkyEx" found the crus of an unknown species and intended to bring it to Earth for research. Echo 17 suspected this may have been the leg that came off as told by Polkanuh and Echo 17 blew up the base and killed all survivors before returning to Earth. NASA claimed a freak solar flare destroyed "MilkyEx"'s base..
Upon return from each mission Echo 17 are to be given a psychological evaluation. If deemed mentally unstable then the members of Echo 17 will be forcibly given amnestics procured from SCP-3000.
Addendum: Analysis from Echo 17 suggests that the horn of SCP-5311 is what allows the creature to be practically immortal but it is inconclusive. SCP-5311's horn appears to be made from a metal that according to scans conducted by the foundation have not existed in the observable universe for 3 billion years. It is known that SCP-5311 regenerates any severed body materials however the lack of replacements available for the horn suggests it would not grow back. One member of Echo 17 "Ronald Dreyton" theorises that the metal of the creatures horn possesses regenerative properties that is used up overtime explaining why no more exists.. if this theory is true then without the horn SCP-5311 will not be able to regenerate.

2. Although the USB transmission mentioned that the Martian used anti gravity boots to avoid succumbing to Xogon neither Echo 17 or other humans have died despite touching the Martian soil. The foundation does not know why this is.
