Special Containment Procedures: Currently, the Foundation believes there is only one instance of SCP-5819. SCP-5819 Is to be kept hidden from public view. SCP-5819 Is located in the basement of an abandoned church so should not be discovered, however all entrances to the church are to be minimally secured with two sets of locks.
Description: SCP-5819 is the designation referring to a seemingly infinite ladder going into the depths of the Earth, it is clear it is a space anomaly as the ladder can not possibly be as long as it is whilst still remaining in the confines of the Earth. SCP-5819 Is located in the "Denise Abberton Church" in a rural Scottish town.
SCP-5819 appears to make whoever dares venture into it contemplate all of their sins. Everyone who wanders down the ladder never come back with some lasting much longer than others. According to tests on D-class it appears that when they plead forgiveness and show true remorse that they disappear from known reality. The foundation currently has no idea where the subjects end up.
Notes: No one currently has been able to resist the ladders bludgeoning ability to contemplate their sins. So far the longest someone has held out has been two weeks and three days by Padro Marcus, a man put on death row for murdering his wife and kids. The foundation is looking to see how serial killers and psychopaths fare over SCP-5819
Test Log 1 "This is Dr Ember Wyvarian, 25th August 2020, test subject C, Peter Hinds a 24 year old drug cartel member".
"Send him in" commanded Dr Wyvarian.
Peter started climbing down SCP-5819. Nothing of note occurred for 5 minutes.
"The voice, I hear it, it's my own, what do you mean. I did what I had to do you know that. HE WOULD HAVE KILLED MY FAMILY " explained Peter.
"It appears to have taken hold of him" whispered Dr Wyvarian into her recorder.
"NO NO DONT TRY THE GUILT CARD I HAD TO IT WAS HIM OR MY FAMILY".
Peter started crying "Fuck I killed him I ended a man's life. I wish I could take it back. Fuck".
"PETER, Peter?" Asked Dr Wyvarian.
"Vitals show he's gone. Only took 12 minutes. One of the shortest times we've had".
Addendum: After a meeting with the O5 Council about any SCPs that could benefit the government, the CIA requested to use SCP-5819 to force criminals to admit their crimes. The foundation alerted the CIA that no one returns from SCP-5819 but they insisted anyway. It appears the CIA intends to use SCP-5819 on the worst of the worst that they are certain committed the crime.
