Special Containment Procedures: A disinformation campaign sponsored by the Foundation is working at full effectiveness to prevent non-Foundation Related researchers from uncovering the nature of the anomaly. Persons influenced by the effects of SCP-ZXC-A, up to and including Foundation Personnel, are to be quarantined for further research and study. MTF Gamma-12 ("Misery Companions") is designated the power and authority to recover research and persons that the Foundation considers unsafe for the containment of the anomaly, this includes infected individuals and groups.
In the event that information regarding SCP-ZXC is released to the public at an uncontainable scale, researchers and scientists in contact with the Foundation are to publish research against these claims, or otherwise delegitemise their claims by any means available.
Description: SCP-ZXC is the collective designation given to two different related anomalies.
SCP-ZXC-A refers to a number of psychological and emotional phenomena reminiscent of the effects of Depression. Its effects include apathy, demoralization, lack of empathy, and overall emotional weakness. Studies show that the anomaly can manifest in any being capable of emotion and conscious decision-making. Besides Humans, it has been observed in a number of other animals, extraterrestrials known to the Foundation, and other SCPs. Despite its symptoms, SCP-ZXC-A can not always be clinically diagnosed as Depression. This is due to selective nature of the anomaly, its infected may become apathetic, but will not necessarily become suicidal, for example.
SCP-ZXC-B refers to an entity. Its exact dimensions or location are unknown, but measurements indicate that is is omnipresent in the observable universe, and most likely further beyond. SCP-ZXC-B does not exist in the physical plane, only in the mental sphere of beings with the aforementioned abilities. SCP-ZXC-B seems to either cause, or manifest itself as SCP-ZXC-A in 0.003% of the universal population, it is unknown if this percentage is constant trough time.
