Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in drawer #███-A in Site-XX's archival library. The keys to the drawers containing SCP-XXXX and any other directly related materials are held by Site-XX's librarian and can be used by personnel with security clearance level 4 or higher. Under no circumstance is any writing utensil allowed within direct proximity of SCP unless used for testing.1

Description: SCP-XXXX is a 105 page atlas map of Scotland. SCP-XXXX places priority on roadmaps and landmarks, with varying marks dictating population for cities, towns and villages.

SCP-XXXX bears a strong resemblance to Scotland AZ Visitors' Atlas and Guide, despite all text present on the book being in Scots Gaelic. Further analysis of the texts, by linguistics analyst Dr. Cunningham, indicate the dialect of SCP-XXXX's Gaelic to be vastly different and seemingly further developed than contemporary Gaelic. The back cover also mirrors that of its' look-a-like, with the addition of a symbol closely resembling a mix between a celtic knot and a pentagram. Below the symbol reads, in bold text, "ARIAMH BAILEPÀIPAR", which is assumed to translate to, "Never a paper town."

Any and all population centers and landmarks present on the map will exist in the exact location displayed without exception, including any features added by marking the map with any standard writing utensil. The visitors guide section in the second half of the book will amend itself accordingly to any additional edit; including adding text, images, and in the case of test-XXX, anomalous pages.2

Addendum: 5/17/██: Dr. F█████ Test Log

  • General location: Countryside area far east of Inverness near the river Spey
  • Addition: Population center. Named, "Goldmay", name made up by Dr. F█████
  • Result: SCP-XXXX-A Mid-size town similar in size and city structure to surrounding villages. Complete with shops, cafes, a post office, community center, and a population of approximately 550. [I don't know what SCP number/classification to give the townspeople of SCP-XXXX-A or otherwise] When interviewed, townspeople claim their home is nothing out of the ordinary and was founded some time in the 1700s.

5/23/██: Dr. F█████ Test Log

  • General location: 10 kilometers north of Glasgow.
  • Addition: Population center. Named, "Torrnock", name from combining surrounding area names, "Torrance" and "Baldernock".
  • Result: SCP-XXXX-B Suburb-like extension of Glasgow similar to surrounding nearby towns such as Cumbernauld and Clyde Bank. Major roads and bus routes go to and from Glasgow. Interviewed citizens respond similarly to questioning as previous testing.

((Writers notes + bullets for more tests below))

Ideas for other tests

  • Seattle, Washington. Scale version of seattle washington with similar exports and culture, created. Notable american-sounding regional accent
  • UnLondon. A similar version of glasgow underground similar to UnLondon SCP emerges into existence. UnGlasgow.
  • Crossing out the name of Dundee and re-writing Dundave (by a Dr by the name of david, obviously) Dundee exists unchanged with the exception of its name, which appears to be, and to have always been, Dundave. After erasing the mark with pencil, all returned to normal.
  • Redrawing the border of Scotland to include the town of Berrick upon Tweed, making the towns surrounding country switch for the 15th time unknowingly.
  • It's worth noting that before testing commenced, the capital of Scotland "Edinburgh" is written in the location Edinburgh exists in today.
  • Site-19. Fully functional SCP site, not site 19, similar in structure. With a full scottish staff that have reportedly always worked there.
  • Ayr-Upon-Sea, population center located 15 km off the coast of Ayr in the ocean. Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX producing places in such a manner that they appear to have always been there, a MTF discovered ruins of a standard British town entirely underwater. No populants currently inhabited the area, but ruins suggest abandonment.
  • Eiffel Tower, the full structure appears. Aprox. 1.5:1 scale.
  • Druim-scarlad, loosely translated as "Scarlet-Ridge", the city on the map's billing address located on the inside cover, complete with latitude coordinates: ██°██'██.█"N █°██'██.█"W. The coordinates are assumed to be used for the expressed purpose of re-writing the town name on the map. When explored by mobile task force, they were met with a large city with a mix of traditional european architecture and contemporary buildings similar to any major European hub city, with the notable absence of any traditional places of worship. The publishing firm indicated on SCP-XXXX's inside cover appeared normal, even including many other atlases, presumably with similar anomalous qualities, of SCP-XXXX. Including those for England, Ireland, "An Gall" (Presumably France), and ███████.
    • Scarlet ridge, Scarlet King, pagan magic, things are starting to link up a bit here
  • Site-0. Redacted.
  • Testing ends from executive order from O5 council.

Subtext: SCP-XXXX is theorized to be from an alternate universe where, rather than dying out by integration with the English, the Scots ethno-linguistic group dominated the population of Scotland. More significantly, magic is real, the celts managed to figure it out, and can use it to travel between universes.
