Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently at a fireproof chamber in area 98, away from any SCP’s that may contain the ability to burn the books. See addendum-#.SCP-XXXX is to only be used for testing, and none of the books are to be burned unless authorized by Dr. “”.
If SCP-XXXX-1 is taken 20 meters out of range from SCP-XXXX or completely burned, then SCP-XXXX-1 will be teleported back into the same location it was in SCP-XXXX. It is strongly advised that one does not walk outside of the 60 meter range with SCP-XXXX-1 while it is burning. Doing so will cause all SCP-XXXX-1s to catch fire. See addendum-#.
When SCP-XXXX-1 is caught on fire, (any contact to fire will cause SCP-XXXX-1 to immediately combust into flames) a portal will form above it that is approximately 8 meters in heights and 2 meters in width. The color of this portal is seemingly random. Always be sure to set fire to SCP-XXXX-1 in a different room so that all SCP-XXXX-1s don’t also catch fire.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a wooden, chestnut colored bookshelf that is fireproof. SCP-XXXX-1 are the books that are in the selves of SCP-XXXX. There are [data redacted] SCP-XXXX-1s. The language that SCP-XXXX-1 contains is German, all seemingly written before 1933. When German translators were asked to translate the books to English, they said that they were unable to because “the words are German, but they don’t mean anything.” It is noted that when a book is burned that the words in each of the books seem to randomly displace each time. On the side of the wooden bookshelf, German words are carved out that read in English along the lines of “We are not the enemies.”
SCP-XXXX-2 is the dimension that SCP-XXXX-1 creates after it opens the portal. Every dimension is much like the earth dimension. The portal closes after 18 minutes and 38 seconds have elapsed.
Addendum-XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX was located in [DATA EXPUNGED], Germany. It was found after a forest fire that took place at the [DATA EXPUNGED] library, where a massive portal formed high over the town. According to the local newspapers that were written of the incident, the portal stayed for over 18 hours before finely retracting, with the bookcase completely unharmed and all the books back to where they originally stood. The Secure Contain Protect Foundation quickly gained a hold of SCP-XXXX, and shortly after amnesics were administered to 674 locals who either saw it in the area, or read it on the news. It was quickly relocated to [DATA EXPUNGED] to area-62.
Test-XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX-1 was to be set on fire in a location above SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1’s anomalous effect that allowed it to teleport back to SCP-XXXX was discovered during this first test. A researcher attempted to place it upstairs, but went to the elevator further than 60 meters away from SCP-XXXX. Minimal testing was done to figure out that the approximate range for SCP-XXXX to SCP-XXXX-1 is 60 meters. SCP-XXXX-1 was in the same location before it was moved, and none of its features were altered. SCP-XXXX-1 was set on fire on a flat plain with a high ceiling to discover how tall the portal would be and how long the portal would stay up for. D class personnel, D-45397 was asked to ignite the book with a match. D-45397 lit a match, then tossed it onto the book. SCP-XXXX-1 was observed to immediately combust when the match came in contact with it, in which D-45297 remarked that she could feel no heat being emitted from the book. After 23 seconds, the book rattled and a maroon portal formed above the book. The color was different from the portal that was seen on the news. The portal was timed to stay up for 18 minutes and 38 seconds, before it was completely “evaporated” and teleported back to SCP-XXXX-1. The words that were inside before were completely scrambled. The title, which read “Deutsche Ansprache: ein Appell an die Vernunft” (placeholder)
The same book was burned 2 more times by the same D-class and with a match. Each time yielded different results.
