Item #: SCP-(4196)
Object Class: Safe/Thaumiel
Threat Level: Blue
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-(4196) is to be kept in a 5x5x5 meter containment cell with a large dog bed and several chew toys. The containment cell must have 90 watt LED lighting, any access to the containment cell must be through a single Hydraulic Seal door with no less than 6,000 PSI. SCP-(4196) must have a full “food bowl” at all times. SCP-(4196) may roam Sector E during the hours of 21:00-03:00 unless restricted by Overseers. One armed guard is to remain outside the cell at all times. SCP-(4196) may be “played” with but only under special permission from Overseers of SCP-(4196) and all personnel must be on break. Although SCP-(4196) may be “played” with at any time [Under special permission] during its time spent “asleep” no contact with SCP-(4196) is permitted and any attempt will be punishable by loss of clearance level and rank. While SCP-(4196) is resting all lighting in it’s containment cell must be dimmed to 5 lumens of light. During events of a containment breach SCP-(4196) is to be lead by 3 armed containment guards to assist in the evacuation of all nearby staff and personnel.
Description: SCP-(4196) is a disfigured humanoid like entity, between it’s os coxa and it’s clavicle it measures at 1.8 meters in length. SCP-(4196) has (similar to) normal human appendages that are 0.5x the average length. SCP-(4196) also possesses two additional appendages protruding from its shoulders, these are described [By Doctor Bennet] as looking similar to “smooth black pool noodles with no divots and with curved tips.” The hands, feet, and extra appendages of SCP-(4196) all produce a sticky residue that allows for it to climb on walls and ceilings. This residue however also sticks to SCP-(4196) as it can not be removed from the entity, due to this, it is impossible for researchers to find out the chemical compound that makes up this sticky residue. SCP-(4196) is extremely intelligent, as normal humans have a left and right brain lobe, while SCP-(4196) has a left, middle, and right brain lobe. The middle lobe, however, only appears to be used as extra memory storage and cognitive function, due to the fact that SCP-(4196) can “twist” it’s upper body 1200 degrees without adjusting it’s lower body, SCP-(4196) has to make very complicated movements to climb on walls and use it’s flexibility correctly. SCP-(4196) also possesses a mechanical jaw that opens in three different areas similar to a “flower rapidly blooming.” These jaws all contain razor like teeth (measuring 1.3 cm) and in a long row, along with a single tongue measuring at 4 cm in length. As SCP-(4196) is completely herbivorous, however, it is unknown why the entity possesses these teeth. SCP-(4196) has two eyes in the same area as normal humans, but is described as having dog like eyes, the entity also possesses two “black fluffy ears” on its head, similar to a “puppy’s ears,” and for unknown reasons doesn’t possess a nose. SCP-(4196)’s sleeping stage occurs when the entity will curl into a ball and raise its body heat to total of 50-77 degrees Celsius. The time SCP-(4196) spends asleep can deviate from about 3 hours to 7 months and time spent awake ranges from 27 minutes to 1 year. Along with this SCP-(4196) has a healing factor as it’s skeletal structure is mostly made of cartilage and will absorb nutrients out of the air and surfaces around it to repair itself.
Note: It was discovered by Containment Guard ████████ that SCP-(4196) changes colour depending on the day/night/moon rotation [See Addendum 4196-1 for more details]
Note: [By: Doctor Jacque] X-rays performed on SCP-(4196) shows that the entity has no organs besides an esophagus, vocal cords, brains, tongue, skin, and a heart. It is unknown how SCP-(4196) produces or releases excrement. And among other things that have also confused Doctor Frost and I we are trying to find out where the food and substances SCP-(4196) consumes goes. Another thing we’re confused about is how the entity breathes as it doesn’t have lungs and the heart doesn’t beat, yet furthermore SCP-(4196) still has high amounts of Oxygen in the bloodstream and high amounts of Platelets and new red blood cells.
Recovery: SCP-(4196) was recovered in the state of Alaska on ██/██/2015. After the entity had broken into several houses and fallen asleep in their dog’s beds along with eating all vegetables and plants found inside the house. The Foundation was immediately made aware and sent task forces Omega-8 along with Alpha-0 to retrieve the entity. Retrieval went smoothly as SCP-(4196) is naturally extremely curious and proceeded into the mobile containment chamber (MCC) on its own accord. It is unknown whether the entity originated in Alaska and is a natural phenomenon, if the entity is a by-product of genetic engineering, or if the entity is completely anomalous.
Experiment Log:
4196-1 [This experiment will cover an array of tests performed upon SCP-(4196)]
4196-1-A: An injured D-Class was sent into 4196’s cell [D-Class personnel had a broken arm]
SCP-(4196) quickly rushed to the D-Classes aid and would not let others get near the D-Class after the test had ceased.
Note: It was discovered that SCP-(4196) can say simple phrases, as when containment guard personnel attempted to remove the injured D-Class, SCP-(4196) growled at personnel and said

*Low growling* “Do not” *more growling* “touch”

4196-1-B: [SCP-(4196) has had several “run ins” with the Chaos Insurgency and attacks anyone on-sight who belongs to the Chaos Insurgency (It is believed that SCP-(4196) recognises their symbol)]
A single D-Class was sent in to play with SCP-(4196) for one hour, before exiting the cell and putting on a recovered Chaos Insurgency uniform and given an AR-16 with a full clip of ammo. SCP-(4196) before attacking recognised the D-Class as the same D-Class from before and did not attack. The D-Class was told to fire upon SCP-(4196) and did so. SCP-(4196) tackled the D-Class to the ground, but yet did not attack. The D-Class was told to fire again upon SCP-(4196). SCP-(4196) then used its sticky residue on its hands and extra appendages along with its brute strength to stick on to the D-Class and ████████████████ ███████████████
4196-1-C: An injured D-Class was sent into the cell and SCP-(4196) reacted the same as it did in the first test, a D-Class wearing Chaos Insurgency uniform [SCP-(4196) had recognised the D-Class and did not attack]. The D-Class was told to fire upon the injured D-Class and then move onto SCP-(4196). Immediately after the D-Class [in Chaos Insurgency uniform] fired upon the injured D-Class, SCP-(4196) jumped in front of the injured D-Class taking the bullets to the chest. SCP-(4196) immediately charged forward at the D-Class with the gun and hesitated for 2.3 seconds before █████████████████████
Note: No further testing with SCP-(4196) is permitted, unless given authority by O5-◼️. All tests seem to follow simple rules.
1. If SCP-(4196) recognises you, you are safe.
2. If you are injured, you are safe.
3. If you are not of the Chaos Insurgency, you are safe.
4. If you are wearing Chaos Insurgency uniform, but SCP-(4196) recognises you, you are safe.
5. If you attempt to injure or attack SCP-(4196) or anyone it is protecting, you are NOT safe.
4196/███-2: [Purpose: To see if SCP-(4196) will protect other SCPs]
[The following test was performed by Doctor █████ with Assistance from Doctor █████, this test involves SCP-(███). All personnel with less than Level 6 clearance attempting to access this file will not know the identity of the other entity involved in this test as it will be redacted]
SCP-(███) was released into SCP-(4196)’s containment cell. SCP-(4196) immediately brought a bouncy ball to SCP-(███) to throw. SCP-(███) threw the ball which was retrieved and returned to SCP-(███) by SCP-(4196). This continued until SCP-(███) fake threw the ball, which confused SCP-(4196) and resulted in SCP-(4196) running along the walls and ceiling of the containment cell looking for the ball. SCP-(4196) of course did not find the ball and layed down on the floor. Before SCP-(███) could throw ball for SCP-(4196) again, a single D-Class entered the cell carrying an AR-16 and fired upon SCP-(███). Immediately SCP-(4196) jumped in front of SCP-(███) absorbing the bullets. SCP-(4196) then proceeded to charge at the D-Class and then proceeded to ████████████████
Additional Notes: [By: Doctor █████] Although the interaction between SCP-(4196) and (███) was adorable. What SCP-(4196) did to that D-Class ruined my appetite. This test however does show that SCP-(4196) is willing to protect all life. Maybe we can have a D-Class that (4196) doesn’t know and have him dressed in some recovered Chaos Insurgency gear and then have that D-Class try to play with SCP-(4196) instead of attacking it and see how SCP-(4196) reacts?
Interview Log: [Interview between Doctor Bennet and SCP-(4196). Purpose: To test SCP-(4196)’s speech capabilities and origin]
<Begin Log>
Dr. Bennet: Hello. Do you know you’re name?
SCP-(4196): Hel…lo. You call… you call me 4196.
Dr. Bennet: That is correct. I just have a couple questions for you. Is that okay?
SCP-(4196): It… it is… okay.
Dr. Bennet: Do you know why you are here?
SCP-(4196): To help.
Dr. Bennet: Are there more like you?
SCP-(4196): [Long Silence] No. I- I am… alone.
Dr. Bennet: How were you created?
SCP-(4196): I do… not… know.
Dr. Bennet: What is your first memory?
SCP-(4196): Cold… never ending… just- cold.
Dr. Bennet: Why do you always protect those around you?
SCP-(4196): To help.
Dr. Bennet: I mean, why do you try to save people?
SCP-(4196): I am nice.
Dr. Bennet: Alright… How old are you?
SCP-(4196): I am tired… I need to sleep now.
Dr. Bennet: SCP-(4196) could you please stay awake? I still have some more… Alright, it’s asleep. *Sigh* End the interview. We’ll try to start it back up once it wakes up.
<End Log>
Addendum: 4196-1 (Colour Change):
Containment Guard ███████ realised on ██/██/2018. That SCP-(4196) changes colour depending on the night/day/moon rotation. It is still unknown what this has to pertain to the entity and research it still going underway.
Black- during the day.
White- during full moons.
Light Grey- during non full moons.
Red- during harvest moon, along with boosted activity and hunger levels.
Blue- during blue moon and super moons, along with boosted activity levels.
Dark Purple- during Solar or Lunar Eclipses, along with low levels of activity.
Extra curricular Log:
[Purpose: To keep track of who has signed-in and signed-out to play with SCP-(4196)]
Note: “Playing” with SCP-(4196) only became allowed following the date of 12/25/2017 after a meeting was held with O5 Command to try and keep (4196) in good physical condition.
12/29/17- Field Agent Jackson. Time:13:05-15:23
4/05/18- Containment Guard Forest. Time: 11:27-12:02
5/12/18- Containment Guard Forest & Researcher Grant. Time: 11:39-17:01
5/20/18- Researcher Stable. Time: 15:03-15:05
Note: [By: Researcher Stable] That thing scared the ████ out of me!! Everyone was making it sound like some cute, adorable, little puppy with “black fluffy ears.” I took one step through the door and it’s running laps around it’s containment cell… ON THE WALLS! Then it jumped at me and tackled me to the ground with a ███████ chew toy in its mouth!
Note: [By: Containment Guard Samsworth] Containment Guard Myles and I were on duty, we let him in and shut the door behind him and like 30 seconds later we hear a thud and the man screaming his bloody head off! We bust into the containment cell and (4196) is on top of Stable with a chew toy. We were ready to shoot (4196) before we realised he wasn’t attacking Stable, just trying to get him to play!
5/28/18- Researcher Stable, Containment Guard Myles, Containment Guard Samsworth, Doctor Jacque, Doctor Bennet, & Doctor Frost. Time: 10:27-16:56
Note: [By: Doctor Frost] We found out SCP-(4196) enjoys being scratched between the ears and being pet on the stomach (or at least where the stomach would be if it had organs). Just thought I should let you guys know.
6/13/18- Doctor Frost & Doctor Jacque. Time: 12:25-14:34
[REQUEST FOR USAGE OF SCP-(682) AGAINST SCP-(4196)]
[REQUEST SUBMITTED TO O5 BY A-38 SCIENTIST WAXX]
Additional Note: I would like to see SCP-(4196)’s full tactical capabilities to find out how useful it could be in recontaining dangerous SCPs.
[REQUEST DENIED BY O5 COMMAND]
Reasoning: SCP-(4196) is a valuable resource to the foundation and if it were to be accidentally terminated in a experiment it could be detrimental to the foundation.
[BY ORDER OF O5 COMMAND, A-38 SCIENTIST WAXX HAS BEEN DEMOTED TO A-8 SCIENTIST OF LEVEL 2 CLEARANCE]
Overseer [Written by O5-██]: Following Doctor Samuel Frost’s promotion, he has been assigned to SCP-(4196)’s Overseer.
[Reason:] Doctor Frost has a strong bond with SCP-(4196) and the two have a history together, allowing for a more precise relationship, and has proven to be useful on several occasions.
