Item #: SCP-4421

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4421 is to be contained in a hollow spherical vault and to be sanitized of dust and any particles in which have a potential flat surface. Staff with a level 1 clearance are allowed to enter the vault for conduction of tests. SCP-4421 poses no danger to any biological being, including SCPs that appear to be sentient. In accordance with Incident with 4421-1, staff are required to have a level 3 clearance with authorized equipment before entering the vault for experiments and cleaning. Said equipment includes clothes and other objects authorized staff may or may not bear. D-Class personnel are permitted to entering the vault in accordance with tests that must be approved by the site director, currently Dr.███████ due to the termination of the previous site director occurring at the events of Incident 4421-1. Every surface entering and exiting the vault must not be flat, resulting in most equipment entering the vault being a rounded object. The vault has been fitted with an additional smaller sphere acting as an extra precaution when it comes to contact with SCP-4421 and flat surfaces

Description: SCP-4421 appears to be a Vintage Mitsubishi television hailing from approximately 197█. All television function appears to be lost with the exception of the power switch. Regardless of the television being connected to any variant of a power source or not, the television will power on. SCP-4421's screen begins to heat up to approximately 2438.333 degrees Celsius once the it is powered on. The screen refuses to display any image on it regardless it it's powered on or off. However, any flat surface that SCP-4421 comes into physical contact with will immediately display a randomly selected image or footage. This results in SCP-4421-A. Any flat surface withing physical contact of SCP-4421 or another instance of SCP-4421-A becomes an instance of SCP-4421-A. Instances of SCP-4421-A will continue to spread onto other surfaces until it has reached a non-flat surface, requiring the use of the spherical vault. Flat surfaces do include some variants of clothes, badges, and security cards.

Any instance of SCP-4421-A is harmless to most individuals Unless individuals appear to possess epilepsy, which is dependent on the the image the subjects are displaying.

Update: In accordance with Incident 4421-1, biological material is extremely vulnerable to the effects of SCP-4421-A and contact between staff and SCP-4421, SCP-4421-A or any of it's instances is prohibited and lethal. After attaching SCP-4421 to a power source emitted from [[[SCP-4422]], SCP-4421-A began displaying a new symptom of rapidly heating to 2438.333 similar to the screen of the original SCP-4421. SCP-4421-A also appears to affect biological material regardless if it possesses a flat surface or not. This resulted in the fatality of 3 D-Class Personnel and ██ of Foundation Staff, in which SCP-4421-A almost escaped containment. The events stated were archived as Incident 4421-1. All fatalities were from lethal burns to all parts of the body and autopsy requests have been denied by the site director.

Addendum:4421-1

On ████/4/█ (before Incident 4421-1), SCP-4421 received physical contact from SCP-3671. SCP-3671's flat surfaces displayed an image of an unknown commercial of the Kellogg's brand of frosted corn flakes. This commercial was released by the Kellogg's company two months later. SCP-4421 appears to be able to display footage from clips of any time period, this also raised the hypothesis of SCP-4421 being aware of its surroundings. Approximately an hour later, SCP-3671's contents appeared to be different variations of television remotes.

Addendum:4421-2

On ████/23/11 (before Incident 4421-1) SCP-4421-A displayed CCTV camera footage of the recently escaped SCP-1048 wandering corridor ██ of Site 24. However, the security team was unable to respond fast enough to contain it. Whereabouts of SCP-1048-A is still unknown as it was not viewed in the footage.
