SCP-XXXX- Memory Cut
Item#: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be contained in multiple lockboxes when not in use for testing, making sure not to expose the film or damage the lens or mirrors within the body SCP-XXXX is to only be handled by researchers with Level 3 clearance or higher due to the sensitivity of its anomalous properties. It is currently unknown if it only works on humans, or if it's applicable to animals and SCP’s.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a Panaflex Millennium XL2 35mm Film camera with a wide-angle lens attached. When SCP-XXXX was found, an internal mirror inside the camera was cracked, however, this was repaired with no impact on XXXXs anomalous abilities. On discovery, a box of alternate lens’ was also found, many of them seemingly unused, as well as a used roll of Ilford HP5+ 400 CineFilm within a development tank.
When SCP-XXXX is used targeting a person with film loaded, an assumed random assortment of memories and thoughts are removed from their mind, making them forget what-XXXX had picked up, and these memories can be found on the film after standard film development procedure, and can even be played back, however, on viewing the film, the subject won’t be able to remember ever seeing the events recorded. If the subject is encouraged to speak about a certain event or be told to think about an event, however, only memories attached to what they are thinking or talking about will be found on the film, however, playback will be the same, with the subject having no memory of what they were talking about and the other memories attached to that thought.
SCP-XXXX is also able to pick up on subconscious thoughts, which has lead to many incidents where the subject has lost the ability to do many subconscious activities necessary for survival, including blinking, breathing and control of internal organs, including keeping the heart beating, and subject to losing any of these abilities are not to be resuscitated by any means as they will either remain unable to respond or can’t be resuscitated. When viewed, any subconscious thoughts and practices are only seen as white noise, as they are not manifested in the form of memories. Testing on whether SCP-XXXX can be used to explore and discover the minds of humans and SCP’s is ongoing.
