Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in storage locker B26, sub-level 1, Site-16 when not being used for testing.
Testing may be performed by Level-2 personnel after submission and approval of SCP-Requisition form E-2. Please submit all Requisition forms to the Site-16 Secretariat. Response will be in 3-5 working days.
When testing with SCP-XXXX all communications must be recorded as audio-logs and transcribed. Individual Researchers are responsible for the re-containment of SCP-XXXX after testing.
SCP-XXXX is not to be deconstructed or significantly altered by order of the Site Director.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a yellow rotary-dial phone with brown cabling. It shows signs of wear consistent with age and rough handling. It requires electricity to function, and has a power cable equipped with a three pronged plug. SCP-XXXX functions with a supply of 240V A.C, 0.1A, 3-phase power (colloquially known as 'mains' electricity). Testing has shown that it is able to function with a variety of power sources consistent with the limits of EU standard Operational-Amplifier components.
SCP-XXXX does not require a connection to a phone-line. Deconstruction has shown that despite its appearance it is a radio-transceiver. The waveform encoding it generates is neither AM nor FM. The encoding scheme is not currently understood, and requires at least 6 terms of a Fourier series to describe with an r2 correlation value greater than 0.9.
SCP-XXXX does not function deep underground or when surrounded by thick walls.
When the handset is removed from the receiver, SCP-XXXX may be used to communicate verbally with an unknown entity, hereby designated as SCP-XXXX-1. There is no need to dial.

- SCP-XXXX-1 was cleared by the Memetics department on ██/██/2017.
- A request to the anti-memetics department has been filed as of 11/04/2016. If it is more than 3 months after this date and you are not from the anti-memetics department or on mnestic medication then SCP-XXXX-1 has been cleared as not having anti-memetic properties.
SCP-XXXX-1 typically presents as male, with some exceptions. Its demeanour has been described as "affable" yet "disquieting" by original researchers [REDACTED] who have declined to conduct further tests. It speaks English with a variety of accents.
Audio analysis has revealed that, when posed a question,SCP-XXXX-1 never pauses for more than 2 seconds before responding.
SCP-XXXX-1 does not appear to require rest. The longest conversation it has held with a researcher was 54 minutes long. Transcripts reveal that it does not retain memory of conversations after 48 hours. It is also sometimes unable to construct a consistent narrative, and occasionally contradicts itself. If accused of being inconsistent it will seek to end the conversation politely or hang up.

It is not currently known what SCP-XXXX-1 is, or where it is located. SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 pose a minor threat to normalcy.
