Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX should be kept inside a plastic sheath so as to ensure there is at least a 5mm between the blade and any material. SCP-XXXX should then be placed in a secure container sized at least 40cm^3. Biannual checks should be made on SCP-XXXX to ensure that the sheath is still functioning correctly. If the sheath is found to have come loose, the personnel who discovers this should alert a staff member with at least level-3 clearance so that a replacement sheath and container can be found.
Special considerations should be taken when handling the containment of SCP-XXXX, since any physical damage the object has caused will not be detectable. Moreover, any required transport of SCP-XXXX should be overseen by at least one member of level-3 clearance personnel.
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a normal small kitchen knife made of a steel alloy. It features a one material design for the handle and the 10cm blade. When examining the knife, no visible anomalous properties are visible and it appears to be exactly the same model as a common kitchen knife manufactured by [REDACTED].
The primary anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX became apparent when initial testing was carried out. The handle of the blade functions normally and has been deemed safe for testers to hold. However, the blade of SCP-XXXX, appears to be able to pass through any solid material and, at the time of testing, this results in no damage to either the material or the blade. So far the blade of SCP-XXXX has been recorded to be able to pass through paper, rubber, wood, granite, high-carbon steel and diamond. The blade of SCP-XXXX is also know known to pass through biological material found in humans including skin, muscle tissue and bone. This was discovered during incident XXXX-01 and later theorised to have been shown in the initial discovery of SCP-XXXX.
The secondary anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX were discovered on 19/04/15 exactly one year after the initial testing of the object. At 16:04, the materials used in the test chronologically developed incisions that corresponded with the length and diameter of the blade of SCP-XXXX. The current working theory is that, although the blade of SCP-XXXX appears to pass through materials without causing any effect, in fact, the effect is simply being delayed by 365.25 days. After the secondary anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX were discovered, the primary researcher of the project came forward to report incident XXXX-01.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in the house in ███████, ████, North Yorkshire, England which was currently under investigation by the local police as the scene of a murder. SCP-XXXX was discovered by the police clasped in the death grip of a man in his kitchen who they believed had been violently stabbed to death. The Foundation became aware of SCP-XXXX after agents embedded into the national police force noticed peculiarities in the murder investigation report. Not only was the knife the man holding a match for the multiple fatal stab wounds he had acquired, a trail of blood suggested than the man had been stabbed in bed and then crawled across the floor into his kitchen to retrieve the knife.
