Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Containment of SCP-XXXX is focused on ensuring that it is not rediscovered by civilian researchers and philosophers. Foundation Surveillance Program ODIN-5 is to be launched in order to monitor all academic discussions and philosophical debates, searching for keywords involved in the conceptual understanding of SCP-XXXX.

A transcript detailing the concept of SCP-XXXX is kept within a sealed vault at Site-77. No personnel are to read its contents at any time without permission from the Lead Researcher, Site-77's Director, and at least one member of the 05-Council.

Testing involved with SCP-XXXX is only authorized after approval from SCP-XXXX's Lead Researcher: Dr. Olman. Tests involving baseline human understanding and questions involving logical mathematical concepts on those who are afflicted by SCP-XXXX are not recommended.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a epistemological concept posed by American philosopher ████ █████ on September 3rd, 2017. When SCP-XXXX is introduced and explained as a concept to any human mind, the concepts of knowledge, intelligence, and consciousness rapidly change from the perspective of that person, rendering their logical thought processes entirely alien from that of an unaffected human. Despite this, a person's emotional and abstract thought processes remain the same, likely causing the affected individual's mind to experience extreme cognitive dissonance.

SCP-XXXX does not seem to affect an individual's ability to comprehend other people's reasoning, but rather seems to effect the individual's beliefs on what knowledge, logic, and intelligence are. SCP-XXXX also doesn't appear to change instinctual processes such as breathing and eating.

Over the course of 8 to 12 hours, an afflicted individual's mind will continue to be altered by the anomaly. As it is impossible to comprehend certain aspects of the individual's mind, not all of these changes are able to be recorded using testing that is currently feasible by the Foundation.

Attempting to remove knowledge and understanding of SCP-XXXX from an afflicted mind through amnestics results in total brain failure.

Addendum XXXX-1: Interview with Afflicted Individual
The following is an interview with D-7512, an individual who was introduced to the concept of SCP-XXXX and given full instruction of its details and ramifications.

Interviewed: D-7512

Interviewer: Dr. Olman

Foreword: Dr. Olman was given a list of questions and logical puzzles for D-7512 to solve in an attempt to determine what changes SCP-XXXX causes to the mental processes of a human being. Due to the difficulty for D-7512 to articulate his thoughts using human language, he was asked to use the best approximation to what he is thinking and attempt to articulate it in English, which he retains knowledge and understanding of.

<Begin Log>

Dr. Olman: Alright, let's cut to the chase. We're going to ask you some questions and give you some thought exercises to determine what SCP-XXXX has done to you. Ready?

D-7512: Preparation isn't adhered to unless you are knowledgeable of (unintelligible) doctor, correct?

Dr. Olman: I… suppose… Er-first question, how do you feel?

D-7512: Doctor, it isn't as if my mind has a greater fulfillment of yours. Umm. My heart. I mean, we are never apart?

Dr. Olman: Slow down. Think for a second.

D-7512 smiles, and points to his face

Dr. Olman: Are you indicating that you are happy? That's great! It looks like we can still communicate in a few ways. Okay, next question. Suppose I have two apples, and I give one of my apples to a friend. How many apples do I have left?

D-7512 frowns at the question

Dr. Olman: Is something wrong?

D-7512: Your apples are irrelevant. As is their number. What matters is how many of you are left afterwards.

Dr. Olman: I don't follow. Can you try to explain? Even just a little bit?

D-7512 stands up and begins jogging in place

D-7512: It is like this, you only have so many of yourself, you must take that into account. The apple is irrelevant. Quantity is irrelevant.

Dr. Olman: Wait, hold on. If quantity is irrelevant then why does it matter how many of myself is left.

D-7512 (visibly frustrated): Because you are imaginary. It's simple.

Dr. Olman: What are you saying? I know I'm real. I know you are real as well. Please explain.

Whenever Dr. Olman says this, D-7512 is visibly confused and begins to violently shake

Dr. Olman: Are you okay D-7512? Do you need something? Please sit down.

D-7512: I am not when. We aren't here. You are beginning when?

Dr. Olman: Um. Yes?

D-7512 seems to relax and sits back down

Dr. Olman: Okay… One more question for today D-7512, then we will be done. Describe to me what knowledge is.

D-7512: Action of the cosmos. Word of mine and all. Zero and one. One and two. Three and Four. Five and six-

Dr. Olman: Alright that's good enough for now D-7512. Thank you.

<End Log>

**Closing Statement: As D-7512's logic thought proved too alien to understand, Dr. Olman was unable to glean much information into how SCP-XXXX affects the brain. D-7512 was returned to his cell. Two weeks later D-7512 was reassigned to SCP-███ and continues to be monitored by researchers.

Addendum XXXX-2: Note from Dr. Olman:

SCP-XXXX is a difficult one. Certainly it's one of the hardest anomalies I've ever had to research. But it's not just hard to research, it's downright impossible to comprehend without being afflicted by it yourself. Once you are afflicted, you can no longer articulate yourself to those with normal human understanding.

The best way to articulate a rational argument is to appeal to another rational argument and use that as a foundation. There is no foundation for a rational argument, no way to bridge the gap with those afflicted by SCP-XXXX. They understand us but we don't understand them.

Could it be possible that this is the next step in the evolution of human understanding? Certainly. Is it a dangerous memetic anomaly that could destroy basic logical thought? Possibly. Once you jump across to the other side, there's no turning back. I'm sure no one is going to want to make that leap of faith and cross over to the other side. If anyone has any theories on how to solve SCP-XXXX, I am leaving my email open to you all.

-Dr. Olman
