Item #: SCP-3605

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3605 is to be kept in standard humanoid containment cell 26 on Site-86, this cell contains thermographic cameras which are capable of detecting SCP-3605's presence, despite SCP-3605's relatively weak heat signature when not being observed. It also houses 3 beds for the purpose of observing SCP-3605. After Incident 3605-12, 3 toughened glass walls have been erected surrounding the beds, attached to the wall adjacent to the preparation hall within the cell. Another door leading to the now enclosed beds has been added.

Should no observational research on SCP-3605 be scheduled for any time within a 30 day period, three personnel will be assigned to observe SCP-3605 on the 15th day within said period to make sure it is present. Should the 3 of them fail to observe SCP-3605 on that day, they will be made to attempt it again on the next. Should this continue for a total of 3 days, Dr. ██████, Dr. ████, Dr. ██████ or any of their assistants are to be contacted and informed immediately.

Anyone observing SCP-3605 producing fluids or noticing the presence of fluids of any kind in the cell is to make a mental note of the areas with said fluid, and instruct janitorial staff to clean said areas. Janitorial staff assigned to the area have already been informed of the nature of the fluid and will not require more explanation of it's presence than just directions.

Description: SCP-3605 is a humanoid seemingly around 1.5cm tall possessing a relatively wide body and a back hunched in a way similar to that of someone suffering from Kyphosis, Accurate measurements of height and width can not be obtained due to the nature of SCP-3605. SCP-3605 possesses a white face showing signs of severe malnutrition and old age with several large wrinkles and warts. Said face is often mostly obscured by it's hair, which is in the form of several long bright white dreadlocks extending down from the top of it's head to slightly below it's chin. It is clothed in a red cloak covered in what appears to be dirt and foliage, said foliage does not appear to be capable of falling off SCP-3605 regardless of SCP-3605's movements. It also possess a cane which it uses to walk, SCP-3605 will often drop the cane when startled and fall to the ground, it will then usually proceed to crawl to it as fast as it can, usually expressing severe distress through screaming and heavy crying. Whether or not SCP-3605 has a biological sex and what that sex is is currently impossible to determine Incident 3605-1 has proven it to be biologically male.

SCP-3605 is completely invisible to anyone not experiencing sleep paralysis, those experiencing sleep paralysis with a direct line of sight to SCP-3605 will experience an elongated session of paralysis and be able to observe it, they will also have improved ability to recall what occurs during observation as opposed to those experiencing normal sleep paralysis. The presence of SCP-3605 has been found to increase frequency of sleep paralysis occurring, however it does not guarantee it, tests have shown that approximately 70% of the time sleeping in SCP-3605's presence will cause sleep paralysis. It was discovered and captured on ██/██/20██ in ███████, Mexico when three out of the five members of the █████ household started attending therapy. During those sessions the mother, ████████ ██████ and two out of her three children, ██████ ██████ and ███████ ██████admit to all suffered from regular sleep paralysis for most of their lives. The mother claims that she assumed that it was hereditary, but was concerned when both her children had described seeing the same hallucination as her multiple times. The three of them had all given similar, fairly accurate descriptions of SCP-3605 and claimed that regardless of how calm they attempted to be, the hallucination would not vanish. The children also described rare instances in which it would accidentally knock over objects such as pencil cases and books, according to them these objects would change position according to what SCP-3605 does, the mother proceeded to dismiss it claiming it was their overactive imagination. This prompted the foundation to survey their home, leading to the discovery and capture of SCP-3605.

SCP-3605's ability to exert forces on physical objects is greatly diminished when it is not being directly observed by someone experiencing sleep paralysis, outside forces will still affect it in this state, due to this anyone colliding with SCP-3605 in this state may reportedly feel something akin to wind resistance while they are in fact unknowingly pushing SCP-3605 effortlessly. This makes SCP-3605's presence effectively unnoticeable in this state without prior knowledge of it's existence and presence. It is because of this that it was so easily captured, during a night where a member of the family was experiencing sleep paralysis and anomalous events were observed, it's presence was noticeable enough to make it easy to capture through the use of [REDACTED] caging mechanisms, and once it was taken away it was effectively incapable of resistance.

SCP-3605's behavior share's striking similarity to the suspected behavior of neanderthals, when exposed to new stimuli it will more often than not express a copious amount of fear followed by extremely cautious curiosity, explaining SCP-3605's aversion to interacting with objects for any reason besides necessity. SCP-3605 is capable of seeing hallucinations produced by observers experiencing sleep paralysis and will usually be extremely terrified of them, SCP-3605 has never experienced a curious desire to interact with any hallucinations thus far. Tests have shown SCP-3605 to be capable and adept at observational learning, and posses above average ability to form long-term procedural memory. Following Incident 3605-1, SCP-3605 very rarely expresses the same passive curiosity and is instead prone to fits of rage, often violently knocking it's body onto the glass, door, walls, and floor of it's containment area. More often, however it seems to experience symptoms of severe depression, it will often produce loud screams followed by extremely heavy crying ending with relatively quieter weeping, often done in the corner of it's containment area. Sounds produced by SCP-3605 are entirely hallucinatory, any observers will be thinking the sounds as SCP-3605 makes them, thus they will always sound as though they're coming from within the observer's head regardless of the location of SCP-3605 within the room, despite this the sounds obviously correlate with SCP-3605's actions. Another change in SCP-3605's behavior post Incident 3605-1 would be the activation of it's [REDACTED] instincts, it will proceed to remove it's [REDACTED] from it's cloak and [DATA EXPUNGED] in the same way as it did in Incident 3605-1, however due to the installment of the glass barrier it is no longer capable of [REDACTED] on any observers, it will instead do so on the glass itself. SCP-3605 will fall to the ground and begin heavily crying. This process occurs biweekly.

Incident 3605-1 report by Dr. ██████: ██/12/20██, ██:██, scheduled 7-14 day period of observation and testing of SCP-3605 had commenced, day 1 was planned to include no testing of SCP-3605, and to instead be purely for the sake of observation to note any changes to the entity that may have been caused by previous sessions of testing. D-3605-8, D-3605-9, and D-3605-10 were instructed to sleep, and make note of everything SCP-3605 does should they experience sleep paralysis. Due to SCP-3605 never interacting or noticing it's observers or researchers, it was assumed that it was unable to sense or see humans, thus the beds within it's room were placed with no barrier to allow for easier observation of SCP-3605. It was impossible to notice anything abnormal during the observation period, however D-3605-9 had woken up in a panic, waking up D-3605-8 and D-3605-10 who also proceeded to panic. All three immediately began attempting to wipe something off of their body and backed themselves off to a corner of the room, each yelling several expletives. When questioned about what happened each of them claimed to have experienced sleep paralysis, they then described it removing what appeared to be a [REDACTED] from within it's cloak and approach them, it then proceeded to [DATA EXPUNGED] mostly on each observer's faces while yelling. This continued until SCP-3605 completed it's [REDACTED] producing copious amount of an orange and red fluid, supposedly enough to cover most of each observer's lower bodies. SCP-3605 then proceeded to drop it's cane and fall to the floor and begin crying loudly instead of attempting to reach it's cane. This process is most likely [REDACTED] sharing obvious similarities to the process in humans. Upon further inspection, I've come to the conclusion that SCP-3605 is most likely influenced and learns from it's observers. As several of the D class personnel that have been assigned to observing it had previously committed at the very least ██████ ██████████ and at most ████, and █████████ ████. Since psychiatric tests have been issued to everyone assigned to SCP-3605, it's very likely that it is influenced by an observer's memories rather than their current mental state. Requesting the addition of a toughened glass barrier surrounding the observation beds, observation will be handled by researchers and staff with no prior felonies once the barrier is constructed.
