Item # SCP-????
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedure: Keep stored on high shelf and locked in a safe to maintain out of reach from children and idiots with a sign that states “No touchy” placed on a pink sticky note on the side of the safe.
Objection Description: SCP ???? (The Mathematical Macuahuitl) is a traditional Aztec weapon called a macuahuitl (ma-qua-hoo-ee-tle), composed of a paddle of wood with serrated obsidian stones lining its edges that was used similarly to a conventional European sword. On the bottom of the device there a series of what superficially appear to artistic and frivolous carvings on to the paddle’s sides.
The device was discovered by archeologists underneath the city of Teotihuacan in the year (REDACTED) by a Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican researcher named (REDACTED)). It was then shipped to the Museum of Mexico City for storage. Later after discovering its paranormal properties it was confiscated by the Foundation.
Translation has proven these inscriptions to be previously misunderstood mathematical symbols, each symbol representing either a number or a mathematical function such as division, addition, multiplication or subtraction. These symbols can be changed by turning internal mechanism
When these mechanism are positioned with a function and a number, they will actualize combination on whatever is cut by SCP-????. For instance when given the mathematical function of subtraction and the number one, SCP-???? Will erase whatever it cuts from existence without a trace. If given division and the number two, SCP-???? Will cut it into smaller but equally sized copies of an object. Multiplication and two creates two doubly larger copies of the object and addition will create two new equally sized objects. Exponents and squaring also work as it will multiply or divide whatever object is cut by whatever number is placed in the paddle.
This means that any mathematical occurrence can be actualized on to real objections given the right function and numerical combination.
This has lead some researchers to fear the SCP-???? As one could delete the earth but cutting the ground with subtraction of one inscribed into SCP-????. It could also mean the end of the universe as the Foundation is unsure what would happen if something was divided by zero. It could end the universe in other ways too as multiplying anything by infinity could result in a catastrophic chain reaction.
Origins on what magic or clarketech was needed to construct such an object remains unclear or even who constructed it in the first place, however given the nature of the device, the Foundation has concluded SCP-???? Was probably built by total nerds.
Addendum:
Experiment One: Experiment was conducted using a D-Class test subject who was placed into a small grey metallic testing room. SCP-???? Was set to multiply by ten. The subject then was given the Macuahuitl and then directed to cut in half a cake that was placed on a table on the opposite side of the room. Once cut, the room sporadically burst into a ten separate cakes each with a mass ten times larger than the original cake. The D-Class was suffocated and died into a room covered in chocolate frosting but fortunately the Macuahuitl only needed to be cleaned up a bit. Experiment one concluded successfully and was celebrated with a small party and cake as the main course, of course. Ten out of ten would test again.
Experiment Two: Experiment two was given to another a D-Class to perform. It involved the test subject being instructed
