Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in an outside enclosure in Somerset, England measuring 100 meters squared, surrounded on all sides by a steel fence. No personnel are permitted to enter without the prior written consent of Dr Roudes. SCP-XXXX is to be fed one common seagull (larus canus) every three days. Prey seagulls should be released outside containment, no further action is required.
Testing is no longer permitted. (See Test Log 2)
Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a flock of common seagulls (Larus Canus) comprising of between five and fifty individuals. (see addendum 1)
SCP-XXXX acts as a single minded entity, with individual instances walking in unison with one another. SCP-XXXX is not capable of flight.
Its anomalous properties begin when any individual is within fifteen meters. When the individual is at range of ten meters from SCP-XXXX all observers have noted the sound of distant seagulls. Though where this sound is coming from is currently unclear. At a distance of five meters all instances of SCP-XXXX will approach and encircle the individual who will immediately cover their ears and show signs of stress. After approximately five minutes the individual will stop any prior movement and remain still for a further five minutes at which point they are considered assimilated and will show the same behavior as SCP-XXXX.
Over a 72 hour period the individual will show signs of extreme accelerated decomposition and movements will slow accordingly. After 72 hours the individual will collapse and continue to decompose. For anything other than common seagull individuals no remains apart from the skeletal structure and skin will remain.
Five to six days after the individual has been assimilated new instances of SCP-XXXX will appear. Any subject other than common seagull will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1-3.
SCP-XXXX-1 is any individual, intended or otherwise, that consists of any animals except common seagull and human. These instances should be destroyed on sight.
SCP-XXXX-2 is comprised of human individual. SCP-XXXX-2 have a wider range than SCP-XXXX. Although they have the shape of a seagull and behave similarly to SCP-XXXX they are made of the inner organs. Anyone who has witnessed an occurrence of SCP-XXXX-2 should be given immediate psychiatric treatment and class B amnesiacs.
SCP-XXXX-3 should be treated as severely hostile and a risk of containment breach.
Discovery Log SCP-XXXX was discovered in on █/██/███ in ██████ town square UK. The foundation was alerted after several police officers attended the scene and were assimilated. Task force Delta and agent K███ were the first on the scene finding fifty individual instances of SCP-XXXX and ████ instances of SCP-XXXX-2 which were killed on sight. All attending task team members were administered class B amnesiacs and sent for psychiatric treatment.
Addendum 1: Six individual SCP-XXXX should be kept alive at all times.
Test commenced at 16:15 on █/██/███. D-class D-2960 was told to enter containment with a microphone attached to his shirt. Agent M██ oversees from a distance of 50 meters to SCP-XXXX
Agent M██: D2960 please proceed to containment and enter.
D2960 enters containment. He is approximately 30 meters from SCP-XXXX.
Agent M██: Approach SCP-XXXX and tell me what you see.
D2960 walks at a fair pace towards SCP-XXXX
D2960: Its just a bunch of seagulls.
Agent M██: Can you describe what they're doing?
D2960: They're just walking. Heh, they're all walking together. Just a bunch of birds walking around.
D2960 reaches approximately 15 meters from SCP-XXXX.
D2960: Huh, that's weird…
Agent M██: Elaborate.
D2960: They're still walking around, but… they're all staring at me. Is this normal?
D2960 stops walking, appearing unsettled.
Agent M██: Its what we were expecting. Please proceed.
D2960: Oh, alright.
D2960 continues forward at a slower pace.
D2960: I can hear… something…
Agent M██: What do you hear D2960? Please provide an accurate description of anything unusual.
D2960: Uh. Its music, I think. It sounds nice. Its… its getting louder. There's a smell too…
D2960 begins to hum quietly. The microphone he is wearing does not pick up any other sounds.
Agent M██: Describe the smell and music D2960.
D2960 does not respond. He keeps humming. D2960 stops walking at 5 meters from SCP-XXXX.
Agent M██: D2960, respond.
D2960: What? Sorry, couldn't hear you. Haha! This song is…
D2960 begins to scream and covers his ears. SCP-XXXX encircles D2960 and stares at him.
Agent M██:Christ… D2960? Respond… can you hear me?
D2960: I..Its so loud! Its horrible… Help me! Help me! Make it stop!
D2960 does not make any attempt to move away and continues to scream. At five minutes into the test he goes silent. His hands drop to his sides. SCP-XXXX resumes previous behavior.
Agent M██: D2960, respond.
There is no response. 5 minutes pass. D2960 begins to move, mimicking the behavior of SCP-XXXX. Visuals are maintained for the next 60 hours. During this time D2960 lost bodily functions rapidly and appeared to be in a state of advanced decomposition. Over the next 12 hours D2960 collapses and twitches as his body continues to decompose.
A retrieval team is sent in once SCP-XXXX has moved to the far end of its containment.
48 hours later three new instances of SCP-XXXX-2 were discovered in the main flock of SCP-XXXX and destroyed. Team was administered class A amnesiacs and given psychiatric treatment.
I was certain I could hear seagulls, though it wasn't picked up my my recording equipment. It didn't seem to come from SCP-XXXX either. Odd. Agent M██
Agent L███ and Doctor G██ oversaw from a distance of 30 meters. Video recording software was placed around them to pick up any abnormalities. One small UGV equipped with a live feed camera and microphone was sent into containment of SCP-XXXX on █/██/20█
No anomalies were recorded until the UGV reached 10 meters from SCP-XXXX. At which point the sounds of distant seagulls were picked up over the microphone.
Agent L███: Do you hear that doc?
Doctor G██:Yes. It sounds far away. Likely not coming from SCP-XXXX.
Agent L███: Agreed. Still, I don't like it.
The camera feed flickers red intermittently.
Doctor G██:Are you seeing this too Agent L███?
Agent L███ leans closer to the camera feed and appears to go pale.
Agent L███: oh lord…
The camera feed shows the ground as a red, throbbing mass. At a distance of 5 meters from SCP-XXXX the UGV stops moving. Its microphone bursts into loud static with the sound of a woman screaming and crying occasionally being heard. SCP-XXXX stands around the UGV although each instance does not appear to move on the camera feed. Agent L███ cuts power to the live feed from the UGV. The static and screaming can be heard for a further 3 minutes, at which point the UGV is observed to collapse in on itself. SCP-XXXX stands still around it.
Agent L███: What are they..?
There's a moment of stillness before Doctor G██ and Agent L███ begin humming quietly to themselves. What the tune is is indiscernible. SCP-XXXX moves away from the fallen UGV. Two instances of SCP-XXXX-3 emerge from the flock. SCP-XXXX-3-A moves away from SCP-XXXX towards Doctor G██ and Agent L███ before collapsing seconds later. SCP-XXXX-3-B moves forward.
Doctor G██:This is…nice… Can you… hear that?
Agent L███: Haha! Yes! It reminds me of…
SCP-XXXX stands tall on its legs and spreads its wings. SCP-XXXX mimics its behavior. All instances face Doctor G██ and Agent L███. SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-3-B began to screech loudly. Two minutes later SCP-XXXX-3-B collapsed and twitched before ceasing movement. At the moment movement ceased both Agent L███ and Doctor G██ [DATA EXPUNGED]. A clean up crew was sent in once containment had been assured. Cleaning finished on █/██/20█ approximately three days and 6 hours since this incident occurred.
Further testing is no longer Permitted.
