Item #: SCP-5250
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-525X is to be sealed in class V CHEMIR canisters at any site deemed to be at low risk of containment breach by at least 3 members of the O5 council. Any room used to store said canisters must have an air-tight seal and be accessible only through airlocks. All containers storing SCP-5250 long-term are to be checked for leaks on a monthly basis.
Foundation assets are to monitor black market sales, and nuclear research programs for potential SCP-525X presence. Should samples of SCP-525X be found outside of foundation control, agents are to secure all available samples, detain the party in possession of said samples, and administer amnestics to witnesses. Individuals found in possession of SCP-525X are to be interrogated to determine their source and intent for SCP-525X as well as their understanding of its properties. Once all relevant information has been extracted, said individuals are to be administered class-A amnestics, released, and monitored indefinitely. Natural deposits of SCP-525X are to be extracted by foundation front company Scott & Connors Petroleum under the guise of a standard oil drilling operation.
All foundation personnel involved in SCP-525X testing are required the wear level 3 hazmat suits. Tests involving SCP-525X require the approval of both the head researcher and site director of the facility in which the test(s) are to take place, with tests involving exposure to living subjects requiring the additional approval of the site's head of security and supervision by at least 4 armed guards.
Potential instances of SCP-525X-1 are to be destroyed via incineration within 24 hours of the subject's death. In the case of non-human organisms, subjects are to be terminated and disposed of immediately. Termination of human subjects is left to the discretion of the Ethics Committee, with the alternative being indefinite tracking. In either case, foundation assets are to alter the legal records of the subject's final wishes upon their death to indicate that they wished to be cremated and ensure that the body is disposed of within 24 hours. Active instances of SCP-525X-1 are to be terminated on sight.
Description:
SCP-525X is a red colored metallic fluid that generates fields capable of altering the behavior of atomic structures. All attempts to determine SCP-525X's chemical composition have proven inconclusive. Researchers have been unable to determine the fluid's freezing and boiling points, but have determined that it is chemically and radiologically inert.
Notes recovered in the initial SCP-525X investigation revealed processes that can modify the properties of a sample of SCP-525X and the field it generates. The most readily identifiable distinction between these "permutations" is their color. Table 1 lists the permutation's SCP designation, color, and change in the projected field, as well as other relevant information. Researchers are to note that all field properties listed are present in each permutation to some degree, and that despite being soluble in both oil and water, two samples of SCP-525X of different permutations will not mix.
Testing has proven that exposure to SCP-525X is not inherently toxic, but it does accumulate in the body. The primary side effects of exposure stem from SCP-525X's tendency to generate currents in nervous tissue. These effects can include memory loss, irritable or irrational behavior, hallucinations, and in rare cases, seizures. Exposure to certain stimuli can make the SCP-525X in the subject's body induce more extreme reactions based on what permutations are present, and are listed in table 1.

The SCP-525X in the body of a contaminated subject will continue to manifest anomalous phenomena after the subject dies, particularly the generation of electrical currents. While theoretically this should only trigger random nerve impulses for a short time after death, in reality these impulses are much more organized than should be possible. Deceased subjects that contain 0.███ mg of SCP-525X (weather at the time of death or if it is introduced during decomposition) are considered potential instances of SCP-525X-1 and will become active instances within 24 hours or less, depending on the presence of other instances. Active SCP-525X-1 instances regain motor control and partial brain function until their soft tissues are almost completely decomposed. Higher brain functions such as memory, sapience, planning and problem solving, capacity for tool use, reasoning, and even pain response are almost never retained after death. Even with the absence of almost any form of psyche beyond base instincts, instances of SCP-525X-1 are exceptionally more violent than would be expected. All recorded behavior is apparently centered around the goal of killing as many non-SCP-525X-1 entities as possible. Due to the high probability of mass contamination of a population with SCP-525X (See Addendum 2), any such entities killed will likely then become new SCP-525X-1 instances. It is therefore essential to neutralize potential and active instances as soon as possible to prevent a massive containment breach.
As stated in the containment procedures, potential instances can be easily neutralized via incineration. Active instances are considerably more difficult to neutralize without extreme measures.
Through unknown mechanisms, most tissues of SCP-525X-1 instances require drastically reduced supplies of nutrients and oxygen to remain functional. This renders most vital organs as unfavorable targets for attack. The exception for this rule is the brain of the instance, as it is still required to coordinate muscle contraction.
Discovery:
SCP-525X came to the foundation's attention in 1946 after investigation into facilities run by GOI-[REDACTED], which functioned as and advanced research division for the Axis powers during WWII. All facilities known to the foundation were abandoned prior to arrival and apparently built specifically for the study and weaponization of SCP-525X and SCP-525X-1. While the investigating operatives were unable to locate any personnel associated with these facilities, █████████ liters of SCP-525X were recovered along with numerous documents detailing the group's research on SCP-525X (these documents refer to SCP-525X as Xerum 525), as well as blueprints for devices designed to utilize its properties. These documents proved invaluable to early containment and research efforts. Investigating agents reported damage at several facilities indicating they were abandoned in the wake of catastrophic failure of SCP-525X-1 containment, but located no active instances.
Device name: Xerum Energiezelle (German; "Xerum Energy Cell")
Description: Cylindrical power cell 32cm long with a 18cm diameter. Notes indicate that the technology is easily scalable and a model with the given dimensions is capable of delivering █████████ kV at optimal performance. Most recovered blueprints utilize some variation of this design. Typically contained SCP-525X-G but any other permutation could be used to provide an comparable charge.
Device name: Rifainmentobīmu (Japanese; "Refinement/Focusing beam")
Description: Mounted apparatus roughly 1.2 meters long featuring casing that allowed the input of a sample material on one end beneath the firing mechanism and an aperture on the opposite end. Once activated, the device utilized SCP-525X-B to induce motion in objects less than 20m from the aperture that have the same chemical composition as the sample material as the device is moved. The net result of this process was that affected objects would maintain their position relative to the device while it was active. Said objects would also have a drastically reduced effective weight, allowing the operator to move massive quantities of material with minimal effort.
Device name: Die Glocke (German; "The Bell")
Description: Device consists of 2 counter-rotating rings containing SCP-525X-R inside a roughly cone-shaped casing 8m tall. The counter-rotating motion served to create vortices in the SCP-525X-R fields, ultimately resulting in the projection an anomalous form of radiation that is extremely detrimental to organic life, with most organisms succumbing to either cellular mineralization or rapid necrosis within 30 seconds of exposure. Recovered testing documentation indicates the device had an effective radius of nearly 9 km. Unlike most weapons of mass destruction, Die Glocke was not only reusable but also left strategic resources such as weapons, records, and raw materials intact for invading ground forces to capture. However, a key design flaw is the high energy density the device creates in local space-time, which frequently lead to anomalous phenomena. Testing documentation makes references to reality warping, space-time dilation, and gravimetric fluctuations.
Device name: Sturmkessel (German; (roughly) "Storm Cauldron")
Description: Tank-mounted cloud seeding device that lowered local air pressure by shrinking air molecules using SCP-525X-Y. Later variants on this design hint at plans to build a facility capable of generating cloud cover over most of eastern and central Europe in order to negate Allied air superiority. The original designers apparently forgot to take into account the size differential between effected oxygen molecules and normal hemoglobin which, had such a project been completed, would have rendered earth's atmosphere unbreathable for humans within █ weeks.
Device name: Minotaurusapparat (German; (roughly) "Minotaur apparatus")
Description: Primitive cybernetic augmentations designed for application to SCP-525X-1. The base model served the duel function of strength augmentation and command reception. Examination suggests it would be impossible for a normal human to survive installation, even with modern medical technology. Communication with the modified SCP-525X-1 instance followed a simple punishment/reward system; if the instance failed to follow orders, a radio signal would be sent to a duel antenna array attached to the skull, which would then deliver electric shocks directly to the brain's pain receptors. Supply manifests confirm that test subjects consisted of dead Axis infantry, POWs, and concentration camp victims.
Addenda:
- Recovered notes indicate that the original supplies of SCP-525X were extracted from natural deposits located in [REDACTED]. Expeditions to these sites found that they had been fully exhausted. Containment teams enact containment procedures to the surrounding area with acceptable levels of collateral damage. The geology of the area was analyzed in hopes of locating other deposits before they are uncovered by civilians. As of ██/██/20██, an additional ███ deposits have been found, yielding ███████ total kiloliters of SCP-525X. Containment procedures have been amended to compensate for the shear quantity of material requiring containment.
- In their attempts to analyze SCP-525X's composition, Researchers discovered that its component particles are highly energetic, to the point that a mass of SCP-525X will occasionally eject individual particles, which will gravitate back to that mass as they lose energy. This lead to the discovery that any uncovered SCP-525X is surrounded by a nearly imperceptible cloud which represented a contamination vector via inhalation. Following this development, ████ foundation personnel were found to be contaminated. Field agents are issued mandatory retirement and all affected personnel voluntarily change their burial instructions. Air tight seals and hazmat suits are added to containment procedures.
- In 1963 Project Reichenbach was approved to build the devices detailed in recovered blueprints. Of the completed prototypes, █% were found to be nonfunctional, █% were deemed suitable for use by the foundation, ██% were noted to function similar to other SCP objects and artifacts recovered from Groups of Interest, and ██% were considered too dangerous to remain in an operable state and destroyed.
- In 20██, journalist ████ █████████ published a book describing the Die Glocke device detailed in the recovered blueprints. █████████ also referred to SCP-525X using its original designation and correctly described it as the key component for the device. Agents apprehended Mr. █████████ and, after thorough interrogation, determined the only relevant information that wasn't published was the identity his source, a Dr. ████ ███████, whose whereabouts remain unknown. █████████ was administered amnestics and both he and his supporters were discredited through a standard disinformation campaign. Mr. █████████ and Dr. ███████ remain persons of interest.

Object Class: Keter Neutralized Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-████ is to be housed in a standard humanoid containment cell. The subject is permitted access to non-restricted areas and may request reasonable amennities for comfort and entertainment. These permissions are contingent on SCP-████'s cooperation and may be rescinded in response to SCP-████-a breaching containment protocols.
SCP-████-a is to be denied access to any media relating to popular culture and politics. Information sequestration efforts are to focus particularly on keeping SCP-████-a ignorant of the identities, actions, personalities, etc. of celebrities and political figures. Any new information revealed to SCP-████-a relating to these subjects is to be removed via standard amnestic treatment.(See Addendum) SCP-████-a is to be kept up to date on all publicly available information regarding any individuals considered to have a high public profile (i.e. celebrities, political figures, religious leaders, etc.), even those whom the subject expresses no interest in. To this end, SCP-████-a is required to spend no less than 5 hours a day reading/watching relevant media. Personnel are encouraged to verify SCP-████-a's retention of this information and may due so through casual conversation, though any personnel doing so are reminded to not divulge classified information and are strongly discouraged from sharing personal details with SCP-████-a.
Upon the manifestation of a Swap Event, MTF ████-██ is to interview SCP-████-b to determine a likely location for SCP-████-a. MTF ████-██ is to then rendezvous with SCP-████-a, who has been instructed to maintain position and keep as low a profile as possible until the arrival of ████-██. Once ████-██ is on station, SCP-████-a is to take any actions it deems appropriate for maintaining the public image of SCP-████-b. MTF ████-██ is to act as oversite for SCP-████-a, and should SCP-████-a behave in a manor contrary to that typically displayed by SCP-████-b or is otherwise detrimental to his/her reputation and/or well-being, taskforce members are to subdue SCP-████-a, erase any relevant recordings, and administer amnestics to witnesses. At the conclusion of the event, members are to administer amnestics to SCP-████-b and provide him/her a suitable cover story to explain the absence of memories for the previous day.
Description:
SCP-████ describes a recurring phenomena currently centered around SCP-████-a, which is currently designated as the mind of Eric Johnson. When the subject is unconsciousness during the passage of midnight from Thursday to Friday or afterward, a Swap Event occurs. During a Swap Event, SCP-████-a is transferred into the body of a random celebrity, referred to as SCP-████-b, and vis versa. Swap Events last until SCP-████-a and SCP-████-b are simultaneously unconscious 24 hours after the event is initiated. At the conclusion of the event, SCP-████-a and SCP-████-b are returned to their original bodies. During these events, SCP-████-a will be able to make full use of the physical capabilities of the body it is currently inhabiting, and will also be subjected to any limitations has. However, SCP-████-a will not possess any of the learned skills of SCP-████-b. Neither party suffers any side effects from the transfer, but any changes to the subjects' physical bodies (such as injuries, presence of drugs, tattoos, pregnancy) will persist.
The identity of SCP-████-b has so far proven impossible to predict, and all attempts to prevent Swap events from occurring have failed. Notable efforts include placing SCP-████-a within a faraday cage, lining its containment cell with lead, preventing the subject from falling asleep, and even relocating it to Lunar Site-██. SCP-████-a's awareness of SCP-████-b has been shown to not be a factor in selecting SCP-████-b, and SCP-████-a claims to not be able to influence who the phenomenon effects. There is no apparent difference in health, age, race, gender, or even species from SCP-████-a that grants an individual immunity from being an instance of SCP-████-b.

Discovery:
SCP-████ was discovered in 19██ during a routine information survey showed an increase in reports of celebrities briefly exhibiting uncharacteristic, eccentric, and in some cases criminal behavior and then claiming to have no knowledge of their actions. Interviews with effected individuals revealed that at the time they had been observed exhibiting unusual behavior, they all found themselves living as a Mr. Martin Smith, a 35 year old accountant. With the provided information agents where able to apprehend Mr. Smith, the first recorded instance of SCP-████-a, with minimal difficulty.
Addenda:
#Initially researchers hypothesized that SCP-████-a needed to be aware of SCP-████-b for a swap event to occur. In order to reduce the risk of containment breach, and due SCP-████-a's frequent attempts to expose the foundation and breach containment during Swap Events, containment personnel were authorized to administer Class-F amnestics to SCP-████-a. While this did not stop Swap events from occurring, it did result in much more cooperative behavior from SCP-████-a as it removed its desire to reunite with friends and family.
#SCP-████-a expired at the age of 75 on ██/██/20██ from cardiac arrest. The anomaly was presumed to be neutralized for █ years until ███ █████ and █████ █████ released a song in which ███ █████ exhibits phenomena similar to SCP-████-a, with █████ █████ and ██████ ██████ being portrayed as instances of SCP-████-b. Investigation reveals that the two artists realized they had both been affected by SCP-████ and were inspired to write the song based on what they would have done in SCP-████-a's situation. Agents determine that Eric Johnson, a 32 year old account representative for ██████████ Ltd. was the new instance of SCP-████-a and detain him. Mr. Johnson was presumably able to avoid detection for so long because he had little interest in the kinds of disruptive behavior the previous instance exhibited prior to amnestic treatment. SCP-████ was reinstated as a Euclid-class anomaly owing to the generally friendlier and more cooperative disposition of SCP-████-a.
