SCP-XXXX (The Recycling Bin)

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard inanimate object containment cell inside of Site-19. Ambient sounds of a New York City boardwalk are to be played into the chamber. The floors are to be composed of older wooden boards. SCP-XXXX is to have any recyclable materials placed inside of it once every 24 hours. The amount of materials needed to be placed inside does not matter. All materials are to be emptied weekly. If these conditions are not met, a loud vocalization can be heard coming from the containment cell demanding to be taken home. If ignored or SCP-XXXX can not detect any effort to comply with its demands, the vocalizations will become louder. No sound proofing materials have been found capable of muffling the vocalizations SCP-XXXX emits. SCP-XXXX believes to currently be in use as a New York City public recycling bin and no one is permitted to speak in a manner to convince SCP-XXXX otherwise. If SCP-XXXX begins to yell, authorized staff are to enter SCP-XXXX's cell and take it outside into a transporting truck and drive it around. SCP-XXXX is then to be unloaded, brought back into it's cell, and then remark in a manner to convince SCP-XXXX that it has been returned to New York City. A maximum volume of the vocalizations SCP-XXXX emits has yet to be discovered. Ear drums being ruptured and migraines have both been reported after SCP-XXXX begins to emit it's vocalizations.

Description: SCP-XXXX has the appearance of a blue, plastic, New York public recycling bin. SCP-XXXX is capable of speech. The means of SCP-XXXX’s speech is currently unknown. SCP-XXXX speaks with a deep voice of a male in his mid-30’s with a thick New York accent. SCP-XXXX does not contain senses that most living creatures posses other than hearing and touch. The methods of it's hearing ability is unknown. SCP-XXXX is capable of holding 121 liters worth of recyclable materials inside of it. SCP-XXXX believes to be an ordinary recycling bin and attempts to convince it otherwise have come up negative.

Discoveries:

Interviews with SCP-XXXX are extremely difficult due to the fact it believes to be an ordinary recycling bin. Conversations with SCP-XXXX are simply composed of insults directed towards researchers.

SCP-XXXX was discovered by the foundation when a Mrs. [REDACTED] reported to local authorities that the recycling bin at [REDACTED] New York City, New York had sworn at her for placing bubble wrap from a package she had ordered inside of it.

SCP-XXXX will comply with research staff if asked about the importance of recycling as it seems to be the only thing SCP-XXXX cares about.

Incidents: On December 21, 2013, personnel were attempting to complete the daily task of placing recycling materials inside of SCP-XXXX. Shredded paper was attempted to be placed inside of SCP-XXXX from a shredder kept on Site. SCP-XXXX began to curse out personnel, claiming that "Shredded paper can't be placed inside of [it]. It is too [REDACTED] small to be put inside of [it]." The volume of the vocalizations reached a height of 120 dB.
