Cross-SCP Observation Recordings of SCP-5909
Item: Journal Log Entry
"Nine's ability appears to be far more vast than we originally thought. There appears to be no limit to what he can perceive or "truth" he can "see". The nature of this power seems only to be hindered by his current understanding or perception, or what he focuses on at the time. Should 5909 "see" something he gives attention to, the truth will seemingly reveal itself to him. However, if Nine does not think of something, or does not think to think of it, the "truth" will not be made clear to him and he will remain ignorant of the knowledge. Put simply, I believe that Nine must give something his active consideration in order to understand the truths associated with his consideration. This limitation seemingly inhibits him from having total and complete knowledge of all that exists. If I had to describe it, I imagine his power can be compared to shining a ray of light onto a shadowed page of a book. All that is shadowed remains unknown to the reader until a light is cast upon an area, at which point the text can be read. Only by actively shining a light is the truth illuminated and what was once illuminated must be remembered and recalled to be of use. Extrapolating details or clarification from Nine has proven to be difficult and, frankly, an irritating task as he often simply ignores questions posed to him." - Dr. Quest
Item: SCP-343
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 is seen with several Foundation staff when group passes by containment room of SCP-343. 343 exits room with Agent T. Keen, who had been visiting 343, and walks several steps into hallway as Agent Keen leaves vicinity. 5909 and 343 notice one another and both stare without expression for several moments before 5909 bows slightly with his right hand over his heart, not breaking eye contact and stating "Majesty", before continuing on route to destination. 343 does not react or engage with 5909 but stares as 5909 continues walking until out of sight, after which 343 returns to his quarters.
Whether SCP-5909 has had previous contact with SCP-343 or if interaction is a result of 5909's ability has yet to be determined. It is unclear if greeting was title, reverence, jest or alternative meaning.
Item: Termination of SCP-682
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 is asked by Dr. Bright if he knows a method for destroying SCP-682 permanently, without destruction to Foundation, humanity, Earth or current reality.
SCP-5909 considers the question for six minutes, during which his eyes shift between colors every few moments. Subject's eyes become █████ and momentarily lose their luminescence before returning to normal. Subject appears visibly fatigued and haggard.
SCP-5909: There…is a way. Though even if you I told you, it wouldn't matter.
Further attempts for explanation and elaboration of answer are met with silence from subject.
"Nine's ability to know a truth clearly does not assist in us using said truth." - Dr. Bright
Item: SCP-173
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 informs Dr. Quest of his intention to visit SCP-173. Dr. Quest informs MTF Alpha-9 of intent and unit is mobilized along with Protocol Nine-Zero-Nine. 5909 is allowed to enter 173's containment cell after which cell is closed and secured. 5909 walks toward 173 and touches it lightly. Video feed of containment cell cuts out and alarm is sounded in preparation for possibility of breach. 173's containment cell is opened with all members of Task Force staring directly into cell. 5909 is observed facing away from 173, eyes colored ███, holding a small item. When asked why 5909 was not attacked for not looking at 173, SCP-5909 responds "I am looking at it.
Item Recovered: A 6cm piece of concrete decorated in red and blue paint.
When asked why 5909 informed staff of his intention to engage another SCP instead of simply doing so as is usual, 5909 states that it was preferable to have the Foundation prepare for his entry and exit into 173's containment cell.
Item: Journal Log Entry
"Today was my first interview with SCP-5909 in several weeks. Despite Nine's refusal to answer questions about other SCPs, I make sure to ask him anyway. There have been a few times he actually has spoken about them and there's always a chance we might gather some useful scrap of information. I never know if he's answering because he's being helpful, or if he wants to know about something himself that he hasn't already thought of. I asked about SCP-055 today. Nine's response was that he has told me about 055 twice already and that there would be no point to telling me again. Sometimes it feels like I'm spinning my wheels here." - Dr. Quest
Item: SCP-087
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 is observed leaving Site-17 traveling ████ towards location of SCP-087.
Mobile Task Force Alpha-9 "Last Hope" is immediately mobilized and Protocol Nine-Zero-Nine is initiated.
Upon arrival, SCP-5909 enters stairwell and begins to descend steps. MTF Alpha-9 remains at entrance with Task Force member Morris (Team Code Blue-2) with Protocol Nine-Zero-Nine equipment, following directly behind 5909. Strangely, the light emanating from 5909's eyes, now colored ██████, is observed to illuminate the stairwell past recorded light limit.
After 348 flights, 5909 states to MTF that they should be prepared for an SCP-087-1 encounter. After descending three more flights, 087-1 is encountered and stares at 5909 and Blue-2. Forty seconds pass with no action from any party, after which 5909's eyes change color to ████ and states “[DATA EXPUNGED]”. Instance of 087-1 disappears and 5909 continues downwards. After an additional twelve minutes, audio and video feed from Blue-2 cut out. MTF ordered to standby and prepare for entrance into 087. After forty-six minutes, Blue-2 emerges in a panicked and disoriented state and does not respond to questioning. After an additional thirty-two minutes, 5909 is observed coming up first flight of stairs and exiting SCP-087. Audio and visual feed remains static even after return of 5909. 5909 is returned willingly to Site-17 containment and does not speak to research team when interviewed about event.
Item Recovered: Small piece of porcelain in the shape of a crescent.
MTF member Blue-2 entered a catatonic state shortly after exiting SCP-087 and was hospitalized. Blue-2 recovered after six days and has no memory of entering 087, however grows increasingly disturbed upon mentions of event. Blue-2 has been subsequently removed from Task Force. In addition, while all other MTF members' equipment is intact, Blue-2's equipment playback displays only static, including recording from before entry into 087.
Item: ?????
Observed Event:
Incident reported by Agent Jill Bartlet. Agent Bartlet reports having been engaged in a conversation with SCP-5909. Approximately fifteen minutes into the conversation, 5909 stands up quickly and looks toward the glass panel of exit door in the room as his eyes change to ████. Agent Bartlet is startled and looks toward the door but sees nothing present. As she is about to ask what is going on, SCP-5909 states "I see you. Leave." Agent Bartlet is noticeably apprehensive but does not speak. Neither Agent Bartlet nor 5909 move as 5909 continues to stare at the door. After another minute 5909's eyes return to normal and sits down again, apologizing for the interruption. All attempts by Agent Bartlet to question 5909 about what happened are met with insistence that it was nothing and returns to their original conversation.
Security footage of the event reveals nothing abnormal in area during time of reported incident.
Item: SCP-472
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 enters containment of SCP-472 and holds it within his hands. Interestingly, the pulsing typically felt in the area is noted to cease. 5909 sits with 472 in his hands and closes his eyes. 5909 continues to sit in 472's containment cell for seventy-two hours, during which time nothing of note is observed to occur. After seventy-two hours, 5909 opens his eyes, now observed to be ████ and exits containment cell of 472 looking concerned.
Item Recovered: A silver ring with a small ruby set within it.
SCP-5909 was documented as having a "massive headache" after incident.
Item: SCP-2935
Observed Event:
During a routinely scheduled interview with SCP-5909 is questioned if he knows what happened to the location discovered within SCP-2935. 5909's eyes change color to ████ as he beings thinking. Soon after, subject's eyes widen and nose begins to bleed. 5909 whispers "…that…cannot be." After several moments 5909 returns to normal and when questioned states "some things are best left undiscovered." No further information is able to be extracted from 5909.
"I've asked Nine a question about something the Foundation has discovered during every single one of our interviews and he almost never answers me. I'm equally disturbed by the fact that he responded as I am by his answer." - Dr. Quest
Item: SCP-001
Observed Event:
Agent Nigel Firthing requests access to SCP-5909 for information regarding SCP-001, which is granted by O5 council. Inquiry is focused on what lies behind the entity that is being protected.
Agent Firthing: Nine, O5 wants to know if you can tell us more about SCP-001 and what it's guarding.
SCP-5909: The angel? Your Foundation has many enemies, but also many friends. Compared to all the horrors your organization has dealt with, I would consider that one a "friend".
SCP-5909's eyes change color to █████, then looks at Agent Firthing and says "…why would you send a nuclear missile at it?"
Dr. Quest: I assume that question is rhetorical.
Firthing was going to be administered amnestics if he were to uncover anything useful. Should have expected 5909 wouldn't help. O5-11
Item: SCP-610
Observed Event:
See Incident-5909-610-G.
Item Recovered: [DATA EXPUNGED].
"I will be clear here for the record. The results of this excursion are to be considered absolutely atypical and strictly confidential. At no point will the Foundation ever endorse [REDACTED], nor do we believe [DATA EXPUNGED]. Any personnel overheard discussing this incident will be given amnestics at a minimum and at worst terminated." - O5-10
Item: SCP-162
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 enters containment area as his eyes shift to █████. Subject does not seem to be affected by SCP-162's compulsion effect. 5909 paces around 162 for the next seven minutes, examining the mass, before halting at a spot adjacent from initial facing entrance. 5909 then reaches into 162, completely entangling his arm up to the elbow. After several seconds, 5909 removes his arm, which is covered profusely in cuts, gashes, lacerations and wounds that are bleeding intensely. Research staff present note that 5909 was not entangled in 162's mass and was able to remove his arm without becoming ensnared. 5909 exits 162's containment and returns to his own cell, by which time the wounds on his arm have healed completely.
Item Recovered: A 5" threading needle.
"This is becoming irritating. This is the first time SCP-5909 has exhibited a healing factor and we have to keep revising the damn file classification. Despite Nine's insistence that this was not anomalous and he just "knew how" to heal, it might as well be anomalous, future tech or God damn witchcraft for all we know at this point. Christ Almighty I hate this SCP. - O5-8
Item: SCP-079
Observed Event:
[DATA EXPUNGED]
Item Recovered: None.
CONFIDENTIAL FILE. ACCESS GRANTED ONLY TO O5 COMMAND.
Item: Journal Log Entry
"The more I interact with and observe Nine, the more disillusioned I become. He seems to have access to limitless knowledge that he can simply pull from an ethereal encyclopedia, and yet does nothing to put this to use. Why he doesn't use this ability to further mankind is beyond my understanding. In fact, Nine seems to make it a point to give us as little information as possible and leaves us to figure things out or pick up his mess. There must be some piece that I'm missing. I have half a mind to transfer out of this assignment but I know O5 would never allow it. I'd be lucky to get out of here with an application of amnestics. Better to press on I guess." - Dr. Quest.
Item: SCP-3935
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 is observed leaving Site-17 traveling ████ towards location of SCP-3935.
MTF Alpha-9 ("Last Hope")" mobilized and Protocol Nine-Zero-Nine initiated.
5909 arrives at 3935 site location, enters the building and descends toward access point below collapsed section of the basement. 5909 enters antechamber and stops directly in front of stone archway. Subject reads inscription written upon arch:
The way below winds deeper, longer,
unspeakable its patterns laid.
The lost forever damned to wander
this thing a quiet madness made.
5909's eyes then shift to ████ and after several seconds recites:
The way below hides still in shadow,
a return from the depths unscathed.
The lost forever, here are found, know
the soul a gentle kindness saved.
Immediately after recitation of words by 5909, MTF members notice the air near arch becoming progressively heavier and more humid. 5909 continues on path downwards into depths with Alpha-9 in tow.
Equipment records group reaching the chasm, across from which the previously recorded non-Euclidean structure stands. 5909 begins to cross stone bridge towards structure as MTF members Gant and Ortiz follow behind. After walking halfway across the stone walkway, Gant and Ortiz are suddenly attacked by several female figures with white hair hanging in front of their faces, resulting in both members falling off stone bridge and into the darkness below. 5909 continues crossing as female figures then surround 5909, hovering twenty feet above subject. Figures do not interact with 5909, only moving to maintain circle above 5909.
5909 encounters a small, black humanoid entity in front of the enormous structure and is seen speaking to the entity. Dialogue is impossible to make out due to distance of Task Force members from 5909. After several moments, the black entity reaches its hand out and opens its palm, upon which a small white object rests. 5909 extends his palm outwards and the small humanoid drops it into his hand. 5909 then returns across chasm, upon which the black entity and female figures disappear. Remaining Task Force members egress cavern with 5909 without further losses.
Item Recovered: A calico scallop seashell.
Third recorded instance of SCP-5909 entering a well known area of extreme danger and emerging unharmed. It is unknown whether 5909 possess an additional, currently unknown ability to negate normally deadly effects of other anomalous entities or if subject simply operates under parameters he "knows" will not cause him harm.
Item: SCP-076-2
Observed Event:
During a containment breach by SCP-076-02, SCP-5909 appears in the area of breach and confronts 076-02. 076-02 does not immediately attack 5909 but is observed engaging 5909 in brief conversation. 076-02 quickly grows hostile and aggressively attacks 5909. 5909 is seen avoiding attacks from 076-02, before grabbing 076-02's outstretched weapon arm after a missed swing. 5909 quickly strikes 076-02 in the face, disarming 076-02 as he recoils from the attack. Oddly, 076-02's manifested weapon does not dissipate while 5909 is holding it. 076-02 recovers easily and moves to attack 5909 but is decapitated by a blow from 5909 using the manifested weapon. After 076-02 is fatally wounded, the weapon 5909 is holding begins to solidify in form and reduce in size until it appears as a non-anomalous weapon.
Re-containment procedures reviewed after incident. Psychological analysis of 076-02 pertaining to incident pending approval. Under no circumstances are 5909 and 076-02 permitted to engage one other again.
Item Recovered: A copper-headed spear.
076-02 was unable to deal any damage to 5909, with 5909 dodging, parrying or avoiding all strikes from 076-02. 5909 appeared to know exactly where and when 076-02 would strike. It is suspected that while 5909 was able to gain the upper hand in this particular instance given 5909's ability, a protracted battle between the two would result in 076-02 overwhelming 5909 as 5909 does not posses the combat abilities of 076-02.
Item: SCP-096
Observed Event:
A containment breach of SCP-096 occurred inadvertently when [DATA EXPUNGED]. MTF mobilized for re-containment of 096, during which SCP-5909 is discovered on location after the death of 096's target. Task Force personnel observe 096 in a docile state and facing away from them. 5909 is noted to be facing MTF team but looking down at 096. Task Force successfully apprehends and re-contains 096. Task Force Lead ██████ confronts 5909 as to why 096 did not attempt to assault him after viewing 096's face. 5909 is recorded saying "That is not what I see."
Item Recovered: A vial of clear liquid.
Item: SCP-106
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 recorded exiting containment and walking towards containment cell of SCP-106, but instead moves toward adjacent corridor. 5909 remains there for four minutes before being asked by staff in vicinity what he is doing. 5909 replies that he is waiting and that staff should leave the area. Approximately two-thirds of personnel in location leave after hearing this. After another three minutes, alarm is sounded that 106 has escaped containment as 106 appears out of pocket dimension several feet from where 5909 is standing. 106 makes a distressing vocalization upon seeing 5909. 5909's eyes shift to an unusually bright ███ and pushes 106 back into pocket dimension. After forty minutes, a new dimensional entrance opens 104m from previous location and 5909 exits, with 106 exiting from original opening. MTF teams are deployed and 106 returned to containment.
Item Recovered: A rusted Enfield No. 2 revolver.
How or if 5909 sustained any injuries during time in 106's dimension is unknown. 5909 did not speak to any Foundation staff about incident nor did subject leave his containment cell for twelve days after incident. 5909 responds with agitation or hostility when event is mentioned. 106 was not seen to move for three days after re-containment but has since returned to normal activity.
Item: SCP-035
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 requests access to SCP-035, which is resolutely denied. Several days later, containment breach alarm for 035 is sounded and MTF units are deployed. 5909 is discovered within 035's containment cell but Task Force personnel are prevented from entering the containment cell as the door is locked from the inside. 5909 is then observed, through recording devices within cell, putting 035 over his face. 5909's eyes glow very bright, then change from █████ to ███████. A shriek is heard, followed by loud maniacal laughter emanating from within the cell. During this time, activity on the walls increases dramatically, however the liquid changes from black to red with intermittent streaks of violet. After several minutes the laughter is slowly replaced by a deep and uncontrollable sobbing, followed by a persistent whisper. The whispers are impossible to make out due to both the noise of the sobbing and incoherence of the words. After another few minutes, the sobs subside and whisper from within the cell grows louder and becomes clearer. 5909 has not moved from his original location since he donned 035. The language of the voice is unknown but the prosody of emotion is unmistakable as the voice grows more frantic and hurried. Several more minutes go by with the unknown voice screaming in full hysteria, ultimately yelling the phrase [DATA REDACTED] before stopping. At this point, all activity within 035's containment cell has ceased. Seconds later, 5909 removes 035 from his face, places 035 on its pedestal and pulls an item out of one of 035's eye hollows. 5909 is bleeding from his ears, nose, mouth and eyes, now returned to █████ in color.
Item Recovered: A feather from species Pavo cristatus.
In a rare display, 5909 suggests to staff present after incident that 035's containment be given much higher priority. After returning to his cell, 5909 was noted to sleep for 76 hours straight. Additionally, no activity was present from 035 for several days.
"I don't care if he can enter restricted areas anyway, we can't just give him access to whatever he wants!" - Dr. Clef
Item: SCP-682
Observed Event
After much hesitation from Research Team Q, SCP-5909 is allowed entry into containment cell of SCP-682 for a period not to exceed fifteen minutes and under full observation. 5909 enters containment cell of 682 and is observed changing eye color twice before shifting to two separate colors; right eye colored ██████ and left colored ████. This has not been recorded in any previous encounters. 682 then makes eye contact with SCP-5909.
682: What do you want Seeker?
SCP-5909 does not respond
682: You have come to collect one of your ridiculous trinkets.
5909: I have my destiny, as you have yours.
682: Destiny…pathetic. Neither you or I can do anything about the hand of fate.
5909: That is not what I see.
SCP-682 walks slowly up to SCP-5909, their faces less than a meter apart
682: Nothing you do will matter in the end.
5909: We shall see.
682: Hmmph. I will be free in time, I will kill these sacs of flesh when I am, and nothing will stop me.
5909: I have no wish to help, nor hinder you. You are changed since your first days here, and far more powerful. Were it not for your adaptions to their treatment of you, you would be much less than you are now. Perhaps you owe them gratitude in some way or another, though I would free you from your pain were it within my power.
682: I AM MY PAIN YOU FOOLISH [DATA EXPUNGED]. I AM HATE AND ANGER AND TORMENT.
5909: And yet for all your rage and fury and intelligence, you are sequestered here.
SCP-682 opens its jaws as if to cleave SCP-5909 in half, but instead roars loudly enough to crack the glass the research team is behind
682: Here, take your pathetic trinket and go.
SCP-682 reaches in its mouth, pulls out a lesser canine and hands it to SCP-5909
682: Now leave.
5909: You have my gratitu…
682: LEAVE ME.
"Can someone please tell me what the fuck happened here." - O5-6
Observed Event:
SCP-5909 enters the O5 Command meeting room directly after an O5 meeting has adjourned. All command present react with surprise, but not concern, to 5909's presence within the restricted area.
Interaction with O5 Command Administrator
Administrator: This is an unexpected surprise.
5909: Not to me. I am here to tell you that I will be leaving your organization soon.
Administrator: So soon? It feels like just yesterday that you graced us with your presence.
5909: My time here is almost complete.
Administrator: Ah yes, your quest to collect a hodgepodge of knick-knacks. What is the purpose of your acquisitions pray tell?
5909: Call it what you like. Your Foundation has benefited from my time here. You have seen and observed a great deal.
Administrator: We…appreciate…the opportunity to gleam what we can from your stay with us, and we will forever be grateful for your insight into containing that beast, but you of all people must understand we can't simply let you wander around without our knowledge.
5909: That containment will not last forever, and I will be leaving regardless.
Administrator: We hope later, rather than sooner, for both you and that creature.
5909: Consider this your notice. Do not attempt to hinder me. You are not invulnerable.
Administrator: Is that a threat?
5909: I do not threaten. I merely state fact.
Administrator: When the time comes, I'm sure we all will agree that you'll be more comfortable here.
5909: We shall see.
"The fact that O5 Command was not concerned in the slightest that an SCP, however non-aggressive, was able to enter a restricted room available to a handful of Foundation members, is disconcerting. Not to mention how he even entered the area in the first place. Though I suppose they do have Bright running around. What does Command intend to when Nine actually does intend to leave?" - Dr. Quest
Item: Journal Log Entry
"I think I've discovered why anmestics are ineffective against Nine. Aside from the fact that he can just re-remember the memories erased, amnestics work on the senses and we don't know if Nine uses or even has these senses. I am often surprised at how little we actually know about these things." - Dr. Quest
