SCP-5909

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-5909's anomalous properties, no containment procedures have been found to be effective or necessary. Subject has been thus far content to remain in Foundation custody and has been provided two 25 sq. meter adjoining rooms furnished with standard accommodations. SCP-5909 may interact with Foundation staff and traverse facility at will, under the provision subject is accompanied by a minimum of one (1) Agent or Research staff to monitor behavior. When feasible, personnel accompanying SCP-5909 are to attempt to keep subject in locations requiring level two clearance and below.

SCP-5909 has been known to leave the Foundation premises at Site-17 on occasion. This is not to be considered a breach of containment, however subject is to be tracked and monitored by Mobile Task Force Alpha-9 during these instances.

Containment Addendum:
Since SCP-5909's "containment" by the Foundation, subject has periodically engaged in encounters with other SCPs or anomalous entities in order to procure objects of an unknown nature. The purpose and/or significance of these objects is currently unknown. When confronted about encounters or objects, SCP-5909 refuses to answer or responds in cryptic fashion. These encounters and the objects acquired are considered items of extreme interest to Research Team Q1 and to Overwatch. Any information observed by Foundation personnel regarding these incidences is to be reported immediately to Dr. Brendan Quest2.

If it becomes apparent that SCP-5909 is beginning to or currently engaged in interactions with other SCPs, Mobile Task Force Alpha-9 is neither to aid nor inhibit SCP-5909 activities but is to remain within closest possible proximity to subject and immediately begin Protocol Nine-Zero-Nine until SCP-5909 has completed engagement with anomalous entity(s).

Description: SCP-5909 is a male humanoid of athletic build, seemingly European or Mediterranean phenotype with shoulder-length brown hair, approximately mid-30s in age, standing 1.9m (6'2") and weighing 84kg (185lbs). Subject possesses bioluminescent, pupil-less eyes that shift in color sporadically between all colors of the visible light spectrum.

SCP-5909 has demonstrated capabilities of situational omniscience, which when questioned about this ability has referred to as being able to "see the truth of things". Further attempts at discerning the nature and extent of this ability have proven difficult and have generally only been observed in non-test conditions as subject has been unwilling or unable to cooperate with experiment efforts. Use of this ability does not appear to be limited in scope or potential and efforts to utilize this ability for the Foundation's benefit have been met with refusal or silence from the subject. SCP-5909's precision when using this ability appears to be correlative to the amount of concentration expended during the time of "activation".

Subject has been shown to accomplish seemingly impossible feats after concentrating on an unknown or unknowable piece of information. SCP-5909's eyes have been observed to change color depending on the nature of what it is considering, though at present it is unknown if subject's eyes are the source of this ability or a byproduct effect of the anomaly. Evidence suggests that the color of SCP-5909's eyes is related to the type of information being perceived.

Displays of this ability include:

  • Opening locks regardless of constructed material, clearance level or sophistication of mechanism.
  • Viewing redacted, omitted or confidential information; or data limited by security clearance.
  • Solve complex cryptography and mathematical equations, complete astronomy maps of currently uncharted locations, discuss quantum and theoretical physics without prior knowledge of field, and provide unrecorded historical data currently impossible to verify.
  • Conversed with flawless dialect in every language presented to subject.
  • Seemingly aware of events from unrecorded or reality warping phenomena and appears to be mostly unaffected by the reality warping abilities of other SCPs.
  • Recited facts of deeply personal or intimate nature to individuals he has conversed with.

SCP-5909 was discovered after subject was observed picking up a rusted metal cog from location of Foundation's successful containment of SCP-████. SCP-5909 was questioned on-site and applied Class A amnestics, to no effect. Subject was contained for transport to Foundation Site-17 in preparation for further analysis, after which point SCP-5909 escaped the secure containment of transport vehicle. SCP-5909 was subsequently contained using the most secure available methods on hand and placed inside transport vehicle Delta for transport. Containment methods included physical restriction of appendages with redundant devices and a locked transport cell. After approximately two kilometers, subject exited transport vehicle Delta and began heading away from transport caravan. SCP-5909 was re-contained only after Agent John Nile asked subject if he "would please come with them to the Foundation for research." SCP-5909 was not physically restrained in subsequent transit to Site-17.

Addendum Description
SCP-5909 has displayed the secondary ability to open what appears to be a small dimensional portal (location unknown), designated 5909-01, to store items collected. After retrieving an item from an encounter with another anomalous entity, SCP-5909 will open this gateway and place the item inside. When questioned about this ability, SCP-5909 states that it is non-anomalous in nature and that "anyone can do it if you know how."

SCP-5909 rarely speaks about his anomaly or his interactions with other entities. Interviews with subject have been met with either severe reluctance or outright refusal to provide any information that would assist the Foundation in location and containment of other SCPs. Efforts to extract further details on what information has been given have resulted in silence or hostility from subject.

SCP-5909 is colloquially referred to as "Nine" by Site-17 personnel and will respond when addressed as such. Subject can often be found staring into space and will frequently ignore his surroundings for prolonged periods of time unless addressed. When questioned about such behavior SCP-5909 responds with "just thinking".
