Description: SCP-XXXX is an area of the Argonne Forest of Northern France. This section of the Argonne Forest has been the site of Meuse-Argonne Offensive and the location of the encircled Lost Battalion. SCP-XXXX differs from the rest of the forest as it consists of birch trees with evergreen properties and yellow leaves. The yellowing of the leaves are thought to have caused by lack of chlorophyll in the leaves due to mustard gas being brought into the plant through absorption and the air. Compared to the rest of the forest, weather has no effect on the environment of SCP-XXXX, which stays at a constant temperature and environment throughout the year.

Whenever an individual who is currently serving in or retired from any nations armed forces enters the area (designated SCP-XXXX-A) they are drawn towards one of the instances of SCP-XXXX. This individual will then rest near the instance and the instance will twist and contort to form a more humanoid shape. Regardless of whoever is around them the individual and the SCP-XXXX instance will begin to discuss that individuals service and will attempt to help the individual. After the conversation concludes, SCP-XXXX will release bulbs of pollen that relax and slowly coerce the individual to sleep before SCP-XXXX wraps its roots around the individual. After this event a sapling will appear near the instance with a rough wooden sign inscribed with a description of the person and a quote they are to be remembered by [See Description Log SCP-XXXX 1]. Any attempt to stop this event has so far proven unsuccessful and may also have negative effects on the individual it is occuring to.

Discovery: The first noted instance of SCP-XXXX occurred in 1805 from a journal of a member of the Régiment Occulte National. That area of the forest was set aside as a graveyard for fallen soldiers and after a French psychologist who helped many soldiers was buried there, the anomalous abilities started to occur. Throughout history soldiers and civilians living around the forest have reported that soldiers that enter the woods never return, in life or in death. The latest discovery of SCP-XXXX occurred when a ground of retired marines went hiking in the woods and one of the marines was absorbed by an SCP-XXXX instance.

SCP-XXXX-1 Gen. Jim Ayres "The men in dirt-covered uniforms trudged through mud, smoke, and soot, all to get back to where they knew they'd belong. Home."

SCP-XXXX-3 Atatürks messenger to France, Canberk Hanim “Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives … You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours … You, the mothers who sent their sons from faraway countries, wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.”
