Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Any subdued instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained in Standard Humanoid Containment Cells at Echopoint Zulu until the instances can be transported to Site-76. If any personnel are to come into contact with an SCP-XXXX instance while on patrol non-lethal ordinance should be used to attempt to contain the instance, but if the instance gets within a 5m area of personnel, small arms fire and incendiary ordinance are to be used to neutralize the instance.
SCP-XXXX move unpredictably and are incredibly hostile to other Humanoid creatures. SCP-XXXX are incredibly capable of maneuvering on snow and attacks are unprovoked and unexpected as they can burrow through the snow using their nails. The only way to escape an attack of SCP-XXXX is to lose line of sight.
Description: SCP-XXXX instances are Homo Neanderthalis. A majority of the known instances are male however female and children instances have also been discovered. It is currently unknown how different genders affect the different behavior. Whenever SCP-XXXX emerge from the tundra they open up a new access point to their dwelling, a cavern of unknown length below the antarctic surface. A detachment of MTF Epsilon-2 “The Northern Lights” were sent into the cavern but only two squad members were found alive, the rest of the detachment is determined MIA. [See Exploration Log]
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered wandering 2km outside of Echopoint Zulu by Agent Chang and Agent Smith. After trailing the instance for 15 minutes, a second instance, SCP-XXXX-1, emerged from the ground beneath Agent Smith. Both instances began devouring Agent Smith before Agent Chang discharged 3 rounds from his pistol and both instances and Agent Smith disappeared under the snow.
Exploration Log: A squad of MTF Epsilon-2 “The Northern Lights” in tandem with a Mark 4 surveillance drone codenamed “Borealis” ventured down into the hole in which SCP-XXXX-1 created when it took Agent Smith. Head cam footage from SSGT. Conrad showed that as the squad descended deeper into the cavern the temperature increased substantially and moss and other vegetation was seen growing on some of the rocks. Borealis was sent into the center of the cavern while the squad was positioned overhead providing overwatch. The ground beneath Borealis collapsed leading to the emergence of 10 SCP-XXXX instances from within the cavern and other tunnels. The order was given to immediately evacuate the caves and shaped charges were placed around structural pylons and within a geothermal vent. During evacuation of the cave 5 of the 9 members were devoured and dragged back into the cave before the order was given to blow the charges and sacrifice the remaining members. SSGT. Conrad and the teams explosive specialist stayed behind in the cave while the squad medic and an injured operator left the cave. The helmet cam from SSGT. Conrad shows that after the remainder of the squad left the cave he collapsed the entrance and was overrun by SCP-XXXX instances. The two remaining squad members were recovered and brought back to the base for an interview and rehabilitation. [See Interview Log]
Interview Log:
Interviewer: So please tell me your name and specialization please
Interviewee: My name is Gwen Chambers. I, I was our squads medic.
Interviewer: Can you please tell me what happened down there.
PFC Chambers: After Borealis moved to the center of the cave one of the Privates spotted Agent Smiths body near Borealis and he went to recover his body. Smith was gone, we found him with his abdominal cavity empty. Borealis fell into the vent and those things started coming out of the caves.
Interviewer: Why didn’t SSGT. Conrad blow the charges in the cavern?
PFC Chambers: We determined that a collapse of the cave would have destabilized the surrounding ice and part of Antarctica would have collapsed in on itself.
Interviewer: Thank you for your time.
- PFC Chambers leaves the room-
Interviewer- Send a request to the O5 council to approve another expedition into the cavern.
