Item #: SCP-XXXX: The Deceitful Wolf

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Protocol: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard 5m x 5m containment unit. The entity to be monitored constantly through video surveillance. Personnel designated as communicator with the entity is to be monitored in the security room which oversees the entity’s containment unit until such a time that the entity switches designated communicator.

After incident XXXX-02 containment protocols have changed. SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 5m x 5m containment unit with no windows and reinforced steel walls. Between the entity and the door, a polymethylmethacrylate (plexiglass) barriers is to be set up with a small opening with a sliding door near the floor to allow food to be passed through and small circular holes near average human eye level to allow the passage of sound through to the entity.

All personnel or test subjects who are to interact with the entity, including but not limited to: those who are to feed the entity, interview it, or guard the containment unit much be matched with a photo identification before and after entering the area of the entity’s containment unit by a security personnel who has never had any interaction with the entity. Any noted discrepancies between the identification photograph and the individual leaving the containment unit are to be reported immediately and the individual is to be detained while security personnel monitoring the cameras confirm the entity is still in containment. Any individual who has been designated by the entity as its communicator is to be monitored in the security room which oversees the entity’s containment unit until such a time that the entity switches designated communicator.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a large male specimen of common wolf (Canis lupis lupis) measuring in slightly above the size averages for members of its species at approximately 1.5m at the withers and 2.5m in length from head to tail. The entity’s eyes and mouth are noted to be disproportionately large for its head to such a degree that is not typically noticeable at a passing inspection but becomes more obvious the more its features are studied. Its fur is black in color and while areas of it on the entity’s body are matted and grungy the entity takes special care to keep the fur of its face clean and smoothed.

SCP-XXXX is capable of communicating with humans telepathically. Results of experiment XXXX-03 seem to indicate that the entity is only capable of linking telepathically with a single human at a time. Once designated as communicator, any measured amount to distance between the entity and the communicator does not seem to weaken the connection. However, if the entity changes designated communicators it cannot reconnect with a previous communicator unless the entity is within sightline of the intended communicator.

Individuals who have communicated with the entity describe its voice as “smooth” “dignified” and “soothing.” Interviews with the entity have shown it to have a penchant for telling blatant lies. Individuals who have communicated with the entity note that the creature has no change in tone or cadence when lying of speaking truthfully. Those who communicate with the entity are compelled to believe what the creature says with no provided evidence even if the statement in question is demonstrably false. Most lies told by SCP-XXXX seem to be intended to seclude a single human individual in the cell with the entity.

Successful lies told by SCP-XXXX include:
• “If you go back out of here the way you came you may not survive. There is a safer passage deeper into the room. Follow me.” [Said to a guard bringing the entity lunch. The guard began following the entity into its cell before prompting from the security team over the PA system seemed to bring him to his senses.]
• “Your friend is not who he says he is. He is dangerous. Get behind me. I will keep you safe.” [Said to one of two D class subjects who were exposed to SCP-XXXX as part of an experiment. The D class subject showed signs of immediate apprehension towards his companion and backed away from her. Guards entering the room to subdue SCP-XXXX caused the apparent trance to be broken.]
• “I believe my camera is malfunctioning. Please send someone in to fix it.” [Said to a guard in a security room in another wing of the facility. He began making his way to SCP-XXXX’s containment unit before being stopped en-route by another security personnel]

Multiple incidents of SCP-XXXX coercing individuals into his cell or away from other individuals within a group were noted in the early days of its incarceration within the foundation’s facilities. Placement of a guard that has had no prior exposure to SCP-XXXX outside the door of its cell has proven effective at stopping entrance of any unwanted individuals. When SCP-XXXX managed to get itself successfully alone with a human it has been known to attack and consume the individual in an abnormally short time frame.

The entity’s risk of attack has not shown to be dependent on how much it has been fed. Several D-class subjects and two research personnel have been killed and consumed when they were exposed to SCP-XXXX for interviews and other tests. As such, individuals are not to interact with SCP-XXXX in groups of less than three and must have constant communication with an individual outside the cell who is watching the interaction on camera.

In addition to its attempts to lure human victims into its cell, SCP-XXXX’s most common conversation topic is a request for additional food. This request is frequent and does not seem to be associated with the recency or amount of food which it has been provided. Different feeding schedules, food types and quantities of food per meal have been experiment with, but no amount or frequency of rations seem to discourage its requests for additional food.
SCP-XXXX has shown no signs of any sort of abnormal strength beyond what would be expected for an animal of its size. Despite its ability to speak and its hypnotic lying abilities it does not seem to have any abnormal physical properties. After incident SCP-XXXX-02 it has been determined that SCP-XXXX does in fact possess at least one powerful abnormal ability. See Incident log SCP-XXXX-02 for more information about this ability and how it was first observed manifesting.

The foundation first came into contact with SCP-XXXX on ██/██20██ after reports of mysterious disappearances in wooded areas of rural England near the small town of █████ ████. Foundation field personnel were sent to investigate the disappearances. Below is a transcript of video footage taken from the helmet camera of field Agent █████ MacDonnell.

Incident Report SCP-XXXX-01

Foreword: A team of three operatives was deployed into the forests near the town of █████ ████ to investigate a suspicious missing persons report.
Date: ██/██/20██
[Camera feed begins as investigation team departs from the helicopter transport into a clearing in the woods. As the transport departs Agent MacDonnell surveys the surroundings before turning back to his squadmates. Unit commander █████ Covell begins speaking]
Covell: “Command this is Epsilon. We have arrived on location.”
Command: “Copy Epsilon. Proceed with investigation.”
Covell: “Copy that Command.”
[Covell turns his attention away from his microphone over to the other two members of his squad.]
Covell: “Alright boys, let’s go.”
[Covell walks towards the woods and gestures for the other Agents to follow. As they enter the woods their pace slows, and all three Agents become much more observant of their surroundings. Suddenly Agent ██████ Michaels raises his gun and stops running.]
Michaels: “Stop right there! Who’s there?”
[Covell and MacDonnell both turn abruptly to Michaels and raise their weapons]
Covell: “Michaels what the hell are you doing?”
Michaels: “You don’t hear that?”
Covell: “Hear what?”
Michaels: “You didn’t hear that voice?”
Covell: “No I-“
MacDonnell: “I hear it too. It sounds like a little girl…”
Covell: “A little gi-“
[Covell is interrupted by the appearance of a small girl from behind a tree. Her clothing is tattered. The Agents keep their guns trained on her. She fixes her gaze on Agent Michaels.]
Covell: “What are you doing here?”
[The girl continues to look at Agent Michaels]
Covell: [More aggressively] “What are you doing here?”
[Michaels turns around and points his gun at Covell]
Covell: “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Michaels: “She’s right. You’re not who you say you are.”
MacDonnell: “Michaels what are you talking about?”
Covell: “Put that damn gun down right now. What do you mean ‘she’s right’? ‘She’ hasn’t said a damn thing”
Michaels: [Shaking] “S-she says you’re dangerous. Whatever’s out here must have gotten to you”
MacDonnell: “We’ve been with you the whole time ████”
Covell: “You’re gonna take the word of that damn thing over your commanding officer? Look it that thing! Look at its eyes! It’s not even human!”
MacDonnell: “H-He’s right! Its mouth too! Its teeth are huge!”
[Michaels his head back towards the girl]
Michaels: “It’s … It’s a wolf!”
[As he speaks what was once a small girl is now clearly a large black wolf wearing the tatters of a girl’s dress. The wolf appears shocked and turns to run away. Agent MacDonnell draws and fires several rounds from a tranquilizer gun. The wolf stumbles slightly, trips and collapses.]
MacDonnell: “Well I think we can confirm the disappearances are anomalous.”
[MacDonnell’s camera pans back up to Michaels. Michaels appears shaken]
Covell: [Sighs] “Yeah I think so. Alright boys let’s bag it up and call it in. Stop pissing your pants Michaels, we’ll talk about this when we debrief command.”

Addendum-1: Individuals watching this footage a second time or after having been informed of SCP-XXXX’s nature and the face that the girl in the footage is SCP-XXXX in disguise do not see a child when SCP-XXXX first appears and are capable of seeing through the disguise as soon as it appears in the footage.

Interviews with the entity have provided information of unknown veracity due to the creature’s penchant for lies and deceit. Regardless information received from a series of interviews with the entity is listed below.

When asked if it had a name, the entity stated that animals need no names, though humans have referred to it as “The Deceiver”, “The Great Hunger”, and “The Big Bad Wolf” which it noted was its favorite of its given names. When asked about this preference, SCP-XXXX suggested that the name made it feel “imposing” and “powerful”.

When asked why it seems so determined to get humans alone in its cell with it, the entity replied that it “enjoys company” and politely asked what was wrong with that concept.

The entity was asked why it so frequently asks for additional food. It simply responded, “I was still hungry.” In response to this a researcher what it would take to sate its hunger. The creature replied, “Nothing can. I’m always hungry.”

Incident Report SCP-XXXX-02

Foreword: Transcript and description of footage from two different cameras from ██:██PM to ██:██PM. Camera 1 is the camera inside SCP-XXXX’s cell. Camera 2 is a camera in the hall outside of the cell. The door to the cell and the guard outside are visible. SCP’s designated communicator at the time was researcher Dr. █████ █████ who was at the time being monitored in Security Office #██ in Sector █. All dialogue ascribed to SCP-XXXX was gathered by interview with Dr. █████ after the incident.

Date: ██/██/20██
[Camera 1’s footage begins with SCP-XXXX sitting overtop a large bloodstained metal dish]
SCP-XXXX: “Hello? Yes? Dr. █████? I finished the serving of food that you’ve brought me. I’d like a second helping please.”
[Dr. █████ is not within range of the camera’s microphone, but did respond negatively to SCP-XXXX’s request]
[SCP-XXXX appears clearly agitated]
SCP-XXXX: “If you wish to kill me there are much more humane ways to do it than starving me.”
[SCP-XXXX paces back and forth across the cell, sulking.]
SCP-XXXX: “I will give you a warning Doctor. If you don’t bring me more food I’ll have to get it myself.”
[Dr. █████ once again denied the request.]
[At this time, SCP-XXXX inhales deeply and releases the air with a slight whistling sound.]
SCP-XXXX: “So be it.”
[SCP-XXXX inhales deeply once again and releases it in the same way. The whistling is louder. SCP-XXXX braces itself slightly before repeating the process again. This time a small amount of mist is noticeable coming from its mouth. SCP-XXXX takes one more deep breath and exhales much more forcefully. A torrent of air is visible shooting from the creature’s mouth. As air pressure increases in the room, the room’s door begins to buckle and the windows can be seen shattering before the camera lens shatters and the camera goes offline.]
[Camera 2’s footage shows the door buckle before being launched off its hinges and hitting the far wall of the hallway. A torrent of air fans out from the doorway. Officer █████ ████, the guard posted outside the room is caught off guard and takes a surprised step back. Before the guard can recover, SCP-XXXX pounces on him, knocking the gun from his hands. SCP grabs Officer ████ by his leg and drags him into the cell out of view of the camera. A loud crash and a scream can be heard. After a few moments Officer ████ can be seen walking out of the cell.]
END TRANSCRIPT

Afterword: Officer ████ was seen by several personnel and staff at the facility wandering around in what has retrospectively been noted to have been searching for the exit to the facility. Officer ████ was eventually stopped by Security Officer ███ ███████ who was at the time Officer ████’s roommate. Officer ███████ attempted to converse with Officer ████ and eventually made comments on abnormalities of his facial features, notably abnormally sized eyes and teeth. Officer ████ became panicked and revealed himself to be SCP-XXXX in disguise and attempted to escape. SCP-XXXX was quickly detained and recaptured. Special containment protocols to be reexamined ASAP.
